Siege of Borovsk Monastery of St. Paphnutius (Q109408289): 1610 short siege and capture of the monastery during the Time of Troubles: (delete | history | links | entity usage | logs | discussion)

- Keep well-known event of Russian history. I've fixed some errors.--Nicoljaus (talk) 09:04, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
- Delete I found absolutely nothing on this alleged siege. It seems to me it is a hoax. There is not even a Russian article. No WProject element is currently linked to this item. Veverve (talk) 18:03, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- Delete Have a look at the write-up on enwiki and the relevant AN message as well. Also see WD:PC.CrystalLemonade (talk) 20:54, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- Here's some information from the site of the monastery, and here's some article (written by an alumnus of the Kaluga Orthodox theological college, I don't know if you consider this a valuable publication). Probably not a hoax, anyway, the Time of Troubles affected the area around Borovsk and, in particular, that time it was under control of the Polish interventionists and by False Dmitry II, so a local monastery should've been under attacks. In the other hand, I am not sure if a siege of that monastery was an outstanding event, something like this could happened pretty much elsewhere. --Wolverène (talk) 05:09, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
- Also, the event is 'googleable'... Anyway, you may try to ask here or here, however both projects aren't very active, surprisingly. --Wolverène (talk) 05:27, 1 July 2022 (UTC)

There is no valid use case for such item. In which situation adding this would be preferred over removing false statement? I just run into this in https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Wikidata:Project_chat&oldid=1676962494#canal_classified_as_%22non-physical_entity%22 and for me it just looks like a trap for any user of data. What next "this statement is deliberately false, lol, you should magically know about random obscure qualifiers, lol" qualifier? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 19:22, 13 July 2022 (UTC)

- If this item has some obvious valid uses - then I would suggest documenting it on its talk page or some other obviously accessible place. I run into it in united nonsense statement that results in all canals getting classified as objects that exist outside physical reality. Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 20:30, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
- You may have misclassified them as such, but as explained to you elsewhere, the error was yours. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:42, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
- Those result from things like churches that exist as a building and as a congregation, the congregation may occupy many church buildings in their 400 year history at a location. The building is physical but the congregation will probably follow a path "outside physical reality". You can split each church into two entries, but why bother unless you have information that can fill in a second entry. We do that with famous churches because we have enough info to fill in two entries with their own start dates. --RAN (talk) 00:01, 15 July 2022 (UTC)

- Speedy keep We don't delete bad data from reliable sources, we show people that it is wrong, and why it is wrong. We store the bad data so the people administering the bad database can one-day fix their mistakes. After it is fixed, we delete the bad data. See Wikidata:VIAF/cluster/conflating entities for instance where the VIAf database has errors that remain uncorrected. --RAN (talk) 22:53, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
