Merging items edit

Hallo Anne-Sophie,

When you are merging items, please use the Merge.js gadget. It helps you nominating, gives the option to always keep the lower number (which is older, so preferable) and makes it a lot easier for the admins to process the requests.

With regards,

Thanks, I will. Regards. --Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 15:05, 22 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

P107 (P107) edit

Hey, please do not any longer use P107 (P107). This property is deprecated. Use instead instance of (P31). Thanks. --Pasleim (talk) 23:11, 8 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your work on J.C. Dahl edit

Hi I noticed you added some paintings by J.C. Dahl and I just wanted to say that I love his work and appreciate what you are doing! I added the collection qualifier and location to one of these (The ruined church at Avaldsnes on Karmøy (Q21973918)) and would like to ask you to include these in future, though it may seem like you are doubling up the info. Within the SoaP project we use these to query paintings per painter per collection/location/country and so forth. If you have any questions you can ask them at the talk page of Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings. Thanks again, and Happy editing in 2016 --Jane023 (talk) 09:43, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I will try to remember that. ;-) --Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 09:52, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Oliemaling edit

--Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 18:35, 8 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Qualifiers/references edit

Hi, I noticed some of your items in the constraint violation reports. Can you qualify inventory number (P217) with collection (P195) (not location) and use reference URL (P854) instead of described at URL (P973) (example)? Thank you and keep up the good work! Multichill (talk) 13:33, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I do not understand why, Multichill (talk), described at URL (P973) is a problem. That is the way that I use it (and probably have used it to reference pages on smk.dk for paintings). To me the version with described at URL (P973) looks ok. It follows the example at Property talk:P973Finn Årup Nielsen (fnielsen) (talk) 14:53, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Fnielsen: look again. I'm talking about not using described at URL (P973) in a reference (this change). Multichill (talk) 15:11, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Multichill: Ok, thanks, sorry. — Finn Årup Nielsen (fnielsen) (talk) 15:30, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Well, yes, I probably have done this several times, I`m sorry. Thanks for telling me. --Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 18:34, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

No worries, easy to mix up qualifiers and references. Multichill (talk) 22:05, 25 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Europeana Art History Challenge edit

Danmichaelo (talk) 06:05, 27 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Danmichaelo: Hei! --Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 15:49, 27 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nasjonalmuseet edit

Hi, I'm importing the about 4000 paintings from this collection, see Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Collection/National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design. I expect quite a few of the painters to be on Wikidata, but some won't be here yet. This tool helps in finding and creating the missing painters. Care to help out? How to help is described at this page. Multichill (talk) 20:28, 6 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Multichill: Thanks for letting me know, I will look into it. Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 05:44, 8 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I noticed your edits on Cloud Study (Q19829719). Looks like I caused some duplicates because of the museum merger. I missed that. I added the new collection to all the items without an inventory number (mainly Munch works) and for the other ones I have this list for easy checking and merging:
SELECT ?item ?item2 ?inv WHERE {
  ?item wdt:P195 wd:Q3330707 .
  ?item wdt:P31 wd:Q3305213 .
  ?item wdt:P217 ?inv .
  ?item2 wdt:P217 ?inv .
  ?item2 wdt:P195 wd:Q1132918 .
  FILTER(?item!=?item2)
}
Try it!
Only 18 now so not too bad. The others can probably be found on Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Creator/Edvard Munch. Multichill (talk) 16:25, 9 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
Import is finished. We're currently at about 4800 paintings of which over 4000 are already matched with artists. I split up Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Collection/National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design by time period because it was getting too big. If you know any other good museums for paintings that have a decent collection online, please update Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Location/Norway.
Maybe nice to also invite some other people who are interested in art and speak the language to help out? Multichill (talk) 11:36, 10 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Multichill: Thanks for your import! Your lists look fine to me. I have tried your tool, too. Regarding National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design (Q1132918) and National Gallery of Norway (Q3330707) there are a lot of mistakes at items already created, I believe. Some of them are created by me, unfortunately. I have corrected some of them, after asking a question here https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata_talk:WikiProject_sum_of_all_paintings#collection_(P195)_and_location_(P276) Yes, maybe I will invite someone. Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 10:29, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
Looks like Einar Myre is helping out with the merges. Great! I finished the ones in the query and looks like Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Creator/Edvard Munch only has 4 paintings left without a catalog code. Quite impossible to merge without access to the catalog.... Multichill (talk) 15:39, 12 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Multichill, Anne-Sophie Ofrim: I found the catalog at my library, so I was able to find the last four paintings. I've merged three of them; the last one, The Sick Child (Q55421856) is described at The Sick Child (Q2267579), but that's also the item for the painting series. I'm not sure how this should be handled, possibly the best would be to move the statements related to the 1885 painting to Q55421856, and let Q2267579 describe the series, similar to The Scream (Q471379). Einar Myre (talk) 09:09, 14 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Einar Myre: good to hear. I am a bit puzzled by [1] and [2]. The collection was set to Munch Museum (Q844926), but turns out not to be the case? So these paintings have never been in that museum or you incorrectly merged two paintings into one. Let's assume the first case (never been in that museum), makes me wonder how many more paintings at Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Collection/Munch Museum are actually not in that museum.
Yes, I would make The Sick Child (Q2267579) the series item and The Sick Child (Q55421856) for the individual work. You can connect them with has part(s) (P527) and part of the series (P179). Bedroom in Arles (Q724377) is a good example of how to handle series. Multichill (talk) 13:46, 14 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Multichill: Yes, according the book, both of those paintings are in the National Gallery, and there was no mention of the Munch Museum in either entry.
I tried moving the painting-specific statements from The Sick Child (Q2267579) to The Sick Child (Q55421856). Since this isn't really my area of expertise, I'd appreciate it if you'd check that they're both correct now. Einar Myre (talk) 14:35, 14 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please avoid creating duplicates edit

Hello, I'm Marsupium. Before creating an item, please make sure it doesn't already exist. There had already been Lisa Engqvist (Q43864592) when you created Lisa Engqvist (Q55366188). Same situation for Johan Caspar Herman Wedel Anker (Q55422929). Please be careful. Thank you! If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! --Marsupium (talk) 20:31, 13 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Dahls Dresden. Nasjonalgalleriet 11. oktober - 7. desember 1980 (Q56681826) edit

Are you sure this catalog is complete on Wikidata? Currently only 9 works link to it. Multichill (talk) 17:03, 22 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Multichill: Eh... not yet, I am working on it. Maybe I should remove the item from Wikidata:WikiProject Visual arts/Catalogs ? Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 17:10, 22 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
If it's not complete, why did you add it to the complete catalogs section? Probably not really the right place ;-) Multichill (talk) 17:14, 22 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
I see that the first time I added a catalog (in 2016), I put it under the wrong header. Later on I have added new ones under the first one, unfortunately. I have corrected this now.Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 18:55, 22 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

monument i Riksantikvarens register edit

God formiddag! Mvh Pmt (talk) 10:33, 23 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Pmt: Hei!

Hi Anne-Sophie, https://digitaltmuseum.no/search/?aq=descname%3A%22Maleri%22 looks quite interesting. Do you want me to add these paintings to Wikidata? Multichill (talk) 21:45, 1 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Multichill: Hi ! Sorry for my late answer, I have been away since before Christmas. Yes, that is a good idea. There will be some duplicates as for example National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design (Q1132918), KODE Art museums and composer homes (Q12715958), Oslo Museum (Q6877320) and Museum Stavanger (Q19382034) are among museums with paintings here, see Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Collection/National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Collection/KODE Art museums and composer homes, Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Collection/Oslo Museum and Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Collection/Museum Stavanger. But I do not see that as a problem.Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 08:07, 5 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
No worries, I hope you had a good time!
As long as the inventory numbers are correct, the bot will just expand existing items so that should indeed not be a problem. Multichill (talk) 10:53, 5 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
I think I'm going to pick this one up again. Looks like the Oslo Museum has about 1200 paintings that I can also retrieve in their API.
Do you want to help? I can have the bots import the paintings and upload images. Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Location/Norway would need to be updated so I have an idea of what collections to process. Multichill (talk) 18:39, 13 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Usage of deprecated rank edit

Hi Anne-Sophie, I see quite a few of your edits at Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Deprecated collection without reason for deprecation so I think you're using the deprecated rank incorrectly. It should only be used for statements we thought to be true, but turned out to be wrong. For example a painting first attributed to Rembrandt, but after research it's attributed to one of his students instead. On The Blue Kitchen (Q7718785) for example you set a lot of National Gallery of Norway (Q3330707) statements to deprecated. These statements were valid between 1913 and 2003 so shouldn't be set to deprecated. Now you're saying that the work has never been in that collection. For the collection I would fix it like this. Do you agree? For location I wonder if it's currently on display in the National Gallery of Norway (Q3330707). Keep up the good work. Multichill (talk) 11:53, 13 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Multichill: Hello, Multichill! Yes, I see what you mean, and that my way of using deprecated rank is incorrect. I will try not to do so in the future. As to your example; I think it`s fine. To your question about National Gallery of Norway (Q3330707); they closed on January 2019, so nothing is on display there.--Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 15:15, 13 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Given the whole restructuring, it might make sense to split National Gallery of Norway (Q3330707) as an organization and a building at some point. We did that too for the Rijksmuseum to make things clearer: Rijksmuseum (Q190804), Rijksmuseum (Q25861166) & Rijksmuseum main building (Q17307050). The organization item can be used for collection (P195) and the building one in creator (P170). Multichill (talk) 17:20, 13 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Bruken av rang edit

@Anne-Sophie Ofrim: God dag! Mvh Pmt (talk) 13:16, 13 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Pmt: Hei!

@Pmt: Hei! Jeg kikker på det i morgen. --Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 22:15, 10 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
--Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 10:47, 11 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Artists signature on works edit

Good day! Do you have any idea of which Propety I can use to describe the artist or deseigners signature/initials on a work. As coin engraver Ivar Throndsen (Q11977733) used IT, and Edvard Munch (Q41406) E.Munch on his paintings. I do have unabbreviated text (P7008): (qualifier) text in inscription with the abbreviations expanded in a fairly reliable way. But dont think this prpoery will cover the issue. Breg Pmt (talk) 13:37, 21 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Pmt: Hello! I`m sorry, but I don`t know. I looked at creator's signature (P7457), but that`s only for images on Commons, I think. Perhaps Multichill can help. Regards --Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 15:56, 21 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Anne-Sophie Ofrim: Thanks. Maybe also @Jane023: do have an idea? Pmt (talk) 16:37, 21 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
The easiest is to use a picture as an an exemplar and then qualify it with inscription, or stated as, or start/end dates (sometimes artists change their signature). I have not added these but you can see it's not a popular issue - Rembrandt had many signatures and only one appears on his page. Jane023 (talk) 17:16, 21 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

We have a brand new property which can be used now: has graphical element (P9344). Best, Jane023 (talk) 12:27, 22 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Jane023, Multichill, Anne-Sophie Ofrim: Was informed about the same. What do you think should be the best way of modeling this. Like has graphical element (P9344) -> inscription (P1684)} as qualifiet and still bearing in mind inscription mentions (P6568) and unabbreviated text (P7008) together with image (P18). signature (P109) states handwritten, so I dont want to use that one. Hjælp med oprettelse af WIKIDATA edit

Hej Anne-Sophie,

Vil du have lyst til at hjælpe?

Vinternatt i Rondane edit

God ettermiddag! NrK sier at Vinternatt i Rondane er solgt hos Sotheby for 16 mill. Hvordan ville du modellert dette innenfor Winter Night in the Mountains (Q19689132) ? Nasjonalgalleriets eksemplar har jo sitt eget emne Winter Night in the Mountains (Q56284782).

Call for participation in a task-based online experiment edit

Dear Anne-Sophie_Ofrim

I hope you are doing well,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at King's College London, and I am working on a project as part of my PhD research, in which I have developed a personalised recommender model that suggests Wikidata items for the editors based on their past edits. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I am inviting you to a task-based study that will ask you to provide your judgments about the relevance of the items suggested by our model based on your previous edits.

Participation is completely voluntary, and your cooperation will enable us to evaluate the accuracy of the recommender system in suggesting relevant items to you. We will analyse the results anonymised, and they will be published in a research venue.

The experiment should take no more than 15 minutes, and it will be held next week.

If you agree to participate in this study, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfA1wfdBfCRlcG3WhDyc-V8lzgPNx3fDFCNXkyn4CSwahXZ_A/viewform?usp=sf_link

Then, I will contact you with the link to start the study.

For more information about my project, please read this post: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Kholoudsaa

In case you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me through my mentioned email.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Kristian Stein edit

God ettermiddag! På Kristian Stein (Q113562688) har du brukt subject has role (P2868) Holocaust victim (Q5883980). Gitt at holocaustoffer har beskrivelse "a person of Jewish nationality murdered during a planned German extermination operation during World War II" så faller vel ikke Kristian Stein innenfor det å være av jødisk nasjonalitet.

Beklager. Mvh.Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 19:29, 15 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
