Sports-reference

edit

Hei.

--Wikijens (talk) 14:37, 17 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Jon Harald Søby (talk) 18:27, 17 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Removal of statements

edit

Hey! I realised that you were removing lots of statements for the properties follows (P155) and followed by (P156) when used for persons, but you are not replacing them with the properties replaces (P1365) or replaced by (P1366). Could you please do this operation properly so no data is lost? Andreasm háblame / just talk to me 20:06, 7 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Andreasmperu: Hi, the thing is that these properties used in the way they are are worthless. When a person has the property "previous" or "next" pointing to another person, what does that mean? Previous what? Previous king? Previous crown prince? Previous leader of something? Previous person to exist? Previous person to win something? All of these values were erroneously imported from infoboxes (of all the random samples I've taken, all were added last March by UnderlyingBot), and make no sense. They should not have been created in the first place, so I feel that removing them without replacing them is not really doing it "improperly", but just fixing a past mistake.
Of course, information about who had which position held (P39) before and after the subject (replaces (P1365) and replaced by (P1366)) is important and deserves to be done properly with qualifiers, but there's no efficient way off doing that while I'm fixing the first issue (removing erroneously added follows (P155) and followed by (P156)).
Do you see where I'm coming from here? Jon Harald Søby (talk) 20:34, 7 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
So, you did know about replaces (P1365) or replaced by (P1366) and still decided not to use them (I was hoping you were unaware of this). There is a consensus about not removing statements without adding that information with other properties. Deprecated property P107 (P107) has not been deleted because there are still items using it. What you are doing is leading to an easily preventable loss of data. Please, stop deleting statements without using other properties to preserve that information (by the way, if something makes no sense to you, it does not mean that other people have to agree. We can all be wrong from time to time). So, before starting mass edits on a sole purpose, it is always a good idea to see what other people have to say about it. Andreasm háblame / just talk to me 21:03, 7 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Andreasmperu: Sure, I understand your objection and won't remove any more. A list of the removals I did is here, the top ~500 or so.
Like I've said, these properties were added erroneously and I don't agree that we shouldn't just remove them, I'll leave it for now. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 17:11, 9 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia translate page

edit

Hi Jon! I don't know if it's correct but I would like to translate in english (it's already done) an italian page I made in Wikipedia. I've understood that I need to do it here. Is it correct? Tnank you for helping me! --Juliopm (talk) 13:16, 16 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Juliopm! I am not sure what you mean. Do you wish to add an article to the English Wikipedia, or to connect a page in the Italian Wikipedia with a page in the English one? Wikidata is used for the last part, the so-called interwiki links between languages. To add a link from the Italian Wikipedia to the English Wikipedia (and vice versa), just go to that article in the Italian Wikipedia and click "Aggiungi collegamenti" in the sidebar to the left, and follow the instructions. To add an article to the English Wikipedia, you can see here (it's mostly the same procedure as in the Italian Wikipedia, I think). Jon Harald Søby (talk) 13:34, 16 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Jon, for your answer. You have understood well, I would like to "to connect a page in the Italian Wikipedia (that I have already created, Renato Signorini) with a page in the English one" that has to be created. But where I had to write the english page? Should I create a new page in english in en.wikipedia and then connect it clicking "Aggiungi collegamenti" in the italian page I've already created? After clicking "Aggiungi collegamenti" there are no instructions, apart the "language" and the "link" to the english page. But the question is: where can I create the english page in order than to collect it to the italian one?--Juliopm (talk) 15:16, 16 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Juliopm: OK yeah, to create an article in the English Wikipedia you would do it the same way is in Italian -- go to the article's name (for example en:Francesco Chiaffredo Marini), click "Create source" and start writing. However, I know the English Wikipedia used to have a restriction saying that new accounts can't create new articles; if they still have that restriction, you must create a draft article (for example en:Draft:Francesco Chiaffredo Marini), and an experienced editor will move it to the "main namespace" when it's ready. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 15:23, 16 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Jon! Finally I've understood and every thing is clear! --Juliopm (talk) 15:27, 16 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

That's good to hear, Juliopm! If there's anything else just ask. :-) Jon Harald Søby (talk) 15:28, 16 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Q14954461

edit

Just a note to let you know that I have restored and added references to Q14954461. Also to note that it was notable at the time of deletion. ·addshore· talk to me! 17:44, 17 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Addshore: Eh, I don't really see why this is notable. Just because it had some statements? This is saying that anyone can have an item as long as the Wikipedia article it came from isn't deleted right away...? Jon Harald Søby (talk) 18:16, 17 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
It has referenced statements. And no, it does not mean that anyone can have an item, the face that it is notable has nothing to do with Wikipedia! ·addshore· talk to me! 00:08, 18 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Q14336572 and Q17433341 = the same.

Hello, how can I merge the both pages? I don't know. It's about a template on Prva HNL top scorers, but I haven't managed to merge them. Could yopu help me, please? Cordially. --FCNantes72 (talk) 12:37, 18 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

@FCNantes72:   Done. The easiest way to merge is to use the Merge.js gadget (Settings » Gadgets), which will give you a link to merge in the dropdown menu next to "Search". You can also use Special:MergeItems, but that is more cumbersome. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 12:48, 18 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Property

edit

Hi Jon Harald Søby,

Would you create the one proposed at Wikidata:Property_proposal/Place#Category_for_films_shot_at_this_location ?

It has been proposed for a week and not opposed. --- Jura 16:25, 9 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sure! Jon Harald Søby (talk) 17:01, 9 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

If you feel like it, this one has been up for a week as well. --- Jura 06:32, 20 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Jura1: Alright, I'll take a look. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 07:57, 20 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

So efficient! If you are in the mood (simple one). :) --- Jura 17:07, 23 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Never mind, it was already created. BTW would you look into this one ? --- Jura 09:29, 28 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi Jura1, I'm on mobile now and will be going on vacation tomorrow, so ll probably be quicker you ask someone else for now. :-) Jon Harald Søby (talk) 11:23, 28 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Ok, happy holidays then. --- Jura 11:51, 28 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Land

edit

Mvh. --Wikijens (talk) 11:04, 19 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Wikijens: Ikke noe stress, hehe.

--Wikijens (talk) 23:18, 5 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
