"family name" in Bengali

edit

Just a heads up, since this was present in your previous surname run: the term for "family name" in Bengali is "পারিবারিক নাম", not "পারিবারিক নামাম". Mahir256 (talk) 00:49, 20 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Mahir256: Thanks for the note, I'll take a round with my bot to replace it! Jon Harald Søby (talk) 00:53, 20 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Would you be able to fix the rest of the errors of this sort? I thought I got to them all once, but apparently not... Mahir256 (talk) 23:03, 1 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
I suspect that somewhere in your scripts (not hosted on Wikidata itself) is this error, as I recall back in March adjusting other users' namescript.js to correct it. Mahir256 (talk) 23:07, 1 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Mahir256: You are absolutely correct, it snuck into my personal Python script for creating surname items. I'll fix the errors now. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 23:09, 1 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Jon Harald Søby (talk) 09:04, 31 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Språk i etikettlisten

edit

Hei.

Det beste er kanskje å koble de to pekersidene sammen med said to be the same as (P460). Jon Harald Søby (talk) 12:25, 27 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

hello I need help, I thank you for deleting Page on [enwiki] deleted: Lorenzo Alejandro Laviosa Lopez) but it will be possible to delete the Spanish version https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorenzo_Alejandro_Laviosa_L%C3%B3pez because the information is defamatory towards me--Kraken1982 (talk) 11:07, 5 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for welcoming me in wiki data. I want to make list like this , but i dont know how to start, can you help me?--Mojackjutaily (talk) 22:49, 9 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Mojackjutaily: Sure! The difficult part of these lists is to create the right SPARQL query. They can be a bit tricky, especially if you've never used them before, but luckily there are plenty of good examples available on the query service.
If you tell me what you would like the list to contain, I can help you create an example, and show what the different parts of it do. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 23:04, 9 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
well, i wanna make lists about different topic . one about Directors without an article in the Arabic wiki (here a list about actor), a wanna make Similar one . And second list about singer with the same idea.--Mojackjutaily (talk) 20:47, 10 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

and both with most sitelinks.--Mojackjutaily (talk) 20:52, 10 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Mojackjutaily: Alright, so for film directors, this query will do the trick. What you need to do with it is to copypaste the query, and use it in the {{Wikidata list}} template on a page (preferrably on arwiki). I put some comments in the query to explain what is going on in what line. To do the same for singers, just replace "Q2526255" on line 4 with "Q177220". (Tip: When editing a query on that site, you can click Ctrl+Space to write label for something in your language, instead of having to remember or copypaste the Q numbers.)
In the {{Wikidata list}} template there are many things you can choose to have displayed, as is explained on the template documentation. For this list of directors, I personally would choose their name and picture, gender, citizenship, date of birth and death and IMDb ID, as well as the number of sitelinks. To get that in the template, use the following for the parameter "columns":
P18:Image,label:Article,P21:Gender,P27:Country,P569:Date of birth,P570:Date of death,P345:IMDb,?linkcount:Links
The label that is shown will be in the language of the wiki by default, so if you put this on the Arabic Wikipedia, it will be shown in Arabic as long as there is an Arabic label for that person in Wikidata. If there is not, I think it will show English, but it might show the Q number instead. Also, with the parameter links you can choose whether it should have red links to create articles in the Arabic Wikipedia, or if the links should point to the Wikidata item. I imagine a lot of these people will not have Arabic labels, since there is no article, so I would actually recommend you to link to Wikidata (using links=all) so that you can visit the item to see other Wikipedia's article titles, making it easier to transcribe names.
I hope that's enough, but if you're having any trouble with the template or anything, don't hesitate to ask – I'd be happy to create the list for you, but it's an even better learning experience to try yourself first. :-) Jon Harald Søby (talk) 21:20, 10 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

turn out someone made a list about directors, so i made one about female actor but nothing happening. here is mine . --Mojackjutaily (talk) 11:39, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Mojackjutaily: Works now, you did things correct, the only thing missing was that you need to click the "Update list manually" link ("تحديث القائمة" in Arabic). Jon Harald Søby (talk) 11:41, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
yes it did, thank you very much my friend, now i will do list for singers and then albums . i really appropriate your help. --Mojackjutaily (talk) 11:45, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
No problem, any time! :-) Jon Harald Søby (talk) 11:47, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your message

edit

Thanks, Jon Harald Søby. I am not sure what I would find to do here. For now I work here indirectly through page moves on various Wikipedias that are captured as Wikidata entries. However, if you noticed somthing specific that I could be doing by virtue of speaking Portuguese/ working with Angola, please don't hesitate to drop me a line. Rui Gabriel Correia (talk) 09:22, 10 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Rui Gabriel Correia: Yeah, I realize most of the people I welcome probably didn't actively go to Wikidata to edit, but I think it's still useful to have the welcome template, as it gives some good links and pointers to where to start and how to edit. After all, more and more wikis are using infoboxes containing information from Wikidata, so it's nice to be aware of where to go to edit stuff that pertains to that.
As for Angola, I don't know anything specific, but there's always plenty of stuff to do if you look in the right places. Especially for African countries, Wikidata's coverage is–like Wikipedia's–often rudimentary, so for example going to items about places in Angola and adding the relevant located in the administrative territorial entity (P131) for example could be a good place to start. But don't worry too much about it, if you're busy editing Wikipedia that's just as valuable a contribution! Jon Harald Søby (talk) 21:35, 10 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your comment. I am very very new here, and have only made one or two minor corrections on the past. My biggest contribution by far is my recent inclusion of a Greek language entry for Voltaire famous (or infamous) novella, Candide. Any assistance or instruction you may provide in terms of improving my entry will be very much appreciated.DMaiga

Hi, Dramaiga52! That looks like a very good start to me, but I'm afraid I can't help too much because I don't understand Greek. I did notice that the user Texniths added a few templates to the article, which indicate that the article needs some formatting (the subject of the article in bold, internal links to relevant pages, etc.). If you take a look at Βικιπαίδεια:Βοήθεια, there should be a lot of links that can help you with that, and I'm sure Texniths would be happy to help if you ask him/her. :-) Jon Harald Søby (talk) 01:59, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your note, Jon. I'm probably going to stick to editing existing Wikipedia-started entries until I get the hang of it but I appreciate you reaching out to offer assistance. BologniousMonk (talk) 04:55, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Radziwon

edit

Similar pages are qualified as disambiguations or as surnames in different language versions. It's a problem to be solved rather than a vandalism diagnosed by you. Xx236 (talk) 08:57, 18 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Xx236: Sorry, didn't mean to imply it was vandalism! The rule for names here is that one string = one item. So the names Radziwon and Radzivon (and whatever other variations) should be different items. It does lead to some inconveniences with regards to interwiki links, but I don't really think there's a better way to solve it than to keep it separate when the articles are (purportedly) different classes. Anyways, an item can't be (or shouldn't be) both a Wikimedia disambiguation page (Q4167410) and a male given name (Q12308941), they are logically two very different things.
Also, the two sitelinks that you merged into the male given name "Radziwon" are actually about the surname "Radziwon", which would be Radziwon (Q37216792). Jon Harald Søby (talk) 09:06, 18 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Referanser

edit

Hei, Jon Harald. --Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 10:59, 29 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Anne-Sophie Ofrim: Bruk skriptet dragref.js ved å legge inn dette i User:Anne-Sophie Ofrim/common.js:
// [[User:Magnus Manske/dragref.js]]
importScript( 'User:Magnus Manske/dragref.js' );
Jon Harald Søby (talk) 16:14, 29 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ok, takk, får se om jeg tør det da. He he. --Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 17:05, 29 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

organisasjoner

Jon Harald Søby (talk) 13:25, 2 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Takk for svar.

Search Wikidata | Search nb.wikipedia | Google-search Wikipedias | Google-search Wikidata

--Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 11:36, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Jon Harald Søby (talk) 12:00, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Ok!--Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 12:02, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hei.

--Wikijens (talk) 19:19, 6 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
