Hey there Reza. Hope you don't mind, but I simplified your template using something that Bene*, Merlissimo, and I put together a while back. The template I used to simplify it, {{LangDirSwitch}}, is based on MediaWiki:rtl. If you see anything missing in here, feel free to add it. Everything you mentioned in your template documentation is there except for am, dz, and ha... I've found the problem! It adds all info into an element called "siteSub", which is in fact hidden by default on Wikidata. One can show it by calling

I barely glanced at this script but there are some serious flaws with it.

1. You should use site.dbName() rather than trying to manually construct the name.
2. remove_old_IW will not work. It removes anything with a 2-3 letter prefix, including "WP:Page", and will miss things like "be-x-old". There is already a function in pywikipedia standard lib that does this perfectly, I don't know why you're rewriting it.
3. Why are you manually querying with templatequery? Why not use the default function.
4. Same with Check_Page_Exists, redirect_find.
5. get_interwikis uses the API, which cannot tell whether the link is from Wikidata or locally. This is the biggest problem.

Sorry if this comes off as harsh, but these are serious problems that will cause even bigger ones the more people reuse the script. Legoktm (talk) 02:48, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for your time and your comment. I answer your questions by the number

1. I didn't know about this function because according to project chat I thought pywikipedia has bug with prefixes which have - in their name but now code doesn't have any problem with them .thanks for your recommend :)
2. It doesn't remove "WP:Page" because of line 85. it checks prefix if it is in database dictionary after that it will remove Also it can remove correctly be-x-old or similar prefixes here or here or you can check my bots contributes here. I didn't use pywikipedia function because I didn't want to remove every interwiki. I wanted to remove only which are existed in wikidata or which are their interwiki's changed in wikidata but existed (e.g. en:page1 existed in article and en:page2 existed in wikidata so en.wiki has interwiki in wikidata and my bot will remove en:page1 from article because it is bad link or conflict.) like: here
3. for templatequery I had these queries so I used it. but for Check_Page_Exists and redirect_find I had bug from pywikipedia and it cause error so I used mine which are tested before in many codes and they are OK. (If I remembered I will report in soursefourge)
4. for interwikis in my code I didn't care the place where they stored because in many cases My bot only added labels which are not in fa.wiki interwikis! it means bot checks all interwikis (locale and repository) if they don't have label it will add (if they didn't have conflict and after Bot's edits they are existed in the item). e.g. this which is other bots didn't add label!

before publishing this code It had more that 17000 edits in wikidata and fa.wiki and I checked most of it's edits. writing this code and debugging takes more than hundred times. this code also had possibility to guess category interwiki name and template interiki name which are in English. Minor bugs in new_interwiki.py

Thanks for this script, I found these minor bugs, so if you can repair them, It would be much useful:

1. When name of page contains / bot skips it as subpage. But in main namespace there are usually not subpages, but part of name: C/2012 S1 or Silnice I/3
2. Some categories are skipped (only ---- appears in terminal window), your previous vesion did the same for articles too, but after removing some lines (in old version lines 368 and 464, per amir) it worked fine for all namespaces (but project namespace crashed often for unknown reason)
3. some {{Interwiki conflict}} are not written to page when there is no interwiki to remove
4. interwiki to anchors ([[en:foo#bar]] should be skipped and not to be removed; these cases are usually not in conflicted state
5. when page contains interwiki with -(roa-rup, zh-min-nan...) bot crashes, because unknown wiki roa_rup - in families/wikipedia.py in section self.obsolete you must add line for each of these language:

1.  Done. but now it will only work for namespace 0 because for others may be it makes subpages
2. when it shows --- it means it passed 200 new pages after that it will check all pages.
3. please show the example
4. usually [[en:foo#bar]] has conflict because we have item for [[en:foo]]
5. I solved it by replacing _ to - in some part of code please show me an example which dosen't work on these links because now it works fine.

5-Additionally, you removed (10s) pause after wikidata edit and now bot cannot be stopped by ctrl+c (this pause should be defined in the localisation part). THe problem with roa_rup was in first version, I updated my wikipedia.py, so it worked for me.

2-cs:C-3PO has item Q51787

de:Figuren aus Star Wars#C-3PO has item Q51805

so bot and users can not add de:Figuren aus Star Wars#C-3PO as iterwiki to item Q51787 and these old interwikis (which has #) after wikidata are useless! and they makes interwiki confilict! because they suggest two different item for one page!

4-for the first categories which has --- you can set Skip_New=0 after that it will add item for them

for the rest categories they have item so bot don't have any work to do.

take care in bot's comments which is shown in CMD the abbreviation has meaning

IW-Item=: means it has Interwiki in local wiki (old one or wikidata one) & Item in wikidata

NOIW-Item=: it dosen't have Interwiki at all ( in local and wikidata) but it has Item in wikidata

IW-NOItem=: it has interwiki (old one or wikidata one) but doesn't have Item in wikidata

NOIW-NOItem=: No interwiki and No Item

Iw-others=: means it has interwiki and bot found item for other languages which are linked there

I added a comment which shows the rank of the skipped page in red

6- because of some un-none API errors bot stopped! So I made it automatic to skip the errors Now we should press Ctr+C for some minute ! to stop it and I couldn't find any general solution in internet to break the while loop :(

Next bugs :-)

I updated my script (it would be fine, if also line with path to passfile will be on the top, so I can only replace everything under translations) and is much more useful. But there are still some not serious bugs.

1. When is conflict solved and bot again works with that page, and there is nothing to remove except conflict template, bot write in red that removes template, but template is still in page (e.g. cs:Kategorie:Čínská lidová republika)
2. When is in page dead link, bot skips all other valid links (cs:Portál:Chorvatsko with dead link to bs:Portal:Hrvatska
3. When in page is shortcut like [[WP:Foo]] (where WP means Wikipedia), bot take it as interwiki and add conflict template [2], [3]
4. Bot does not ignore interwiki in <nowiki> section [4]

new_interwiki.py and anchors

Hello, I solved all conflicts on cs.wiki, but there is still couple of pages with links with anchor, like [[en:Foo#bar]]. We don't want to remove them, there is technically no conflict, but bot skips these pages without updating labels or adds {{Interwiki conflict}}. Can you change your script to completely ignore such links? eg. cs:62 contains link to als:60er#62 and bot cannot update labels of 5 other languages. JAn Dudík (talk) 09:45, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

"Gadget-properties" using templates

Hi Reza1615, in this conversation we were talking about how to automate adding statements depending on a category or template item. Your gadget already does that, so I was wondering if you could share your thoughts on the conversation? The latest proposed method is as follows:

1. A gadget sets a template on the category/template item talk page with all needed parameters (language, exclude items, statements to add, recursion, etc)
2. A bot scans the language category and creates periodically a list of candidate items with the missing properties (similar to {{Constraint}})
3. Depending on the number of hits, a person or a bot can add the missing statements

new_interwiki.py : no → nb

Hi, could you update your script so it uses language code "nb" instead of "no"? Seems to be a matter of line 364 in new_interwiki.py. We are trying to move away from the use of "no", and I have a bot running that moves labels from no to nb, but another bot running your script re-added a label my bot had just removed :) Danmichaelo (talk) 12:26, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

The bot still adds labels with the language code no (example). nowiki has the wgContentLanguage nb. uselang=no is converted to wgUserLanguage nb and shows the content of the label with language code nb.
