At some point, would someone check the result of all the ip edits? --- Jura 06:22, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Their edits have now been reverted twice by Infovarius but they just keep restoring their version. They've also been doing similar things on other items, so it seems like all of their edits need checking. From what I've seen, some of their edits seem ok, but they've also been manually adding a lot of imported from Wikimedia project (P143) English Wikipedia (Q328) references (sometimes even replacing proper references with that), and if they notice you reverting the changes, they just restore their version again (like they also did on Gord Robertson (Q19629830) after Sjoerddebruin undid their edits). :/ - Nikki (talk) 12:31, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
I suppose we have to protect it. --- Jura 10:21, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
Semi protection for a month. If IP users continue after that, we might want to consider longer protections. Mbch331 (talk) 11:21, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

Possible spam issue with NNDB ID

I have noticed that several links from the NNDB people ID (P1263) are leading to http://www.goal.com/en-gb. For example on William Strickland (Q1132047) where I first noticed it: I have checked a couple more examples. This presumably is a hack. Charles Matthews (talk) 09:32, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

Greetings,

I would like to add the greek translation of the article International Amateur Theatre Association to the Wikidata entering this [1] site, but the system doesn't allow such actions. Oversight update

Hi everyone,

I have submitted my resignation as an oversighter today. While I still surpass all formal activity requirements for my administrator and oversighter rights, I am unable to be active enough to fulfill requests (especially on IRC), and I think that the spot should go to someone who is more active. I am retaining my administrator rights.

I am grateful to the community for their overwhelming trust and support over the last two years. And, we probably need a new oversighter, so I would encourage those with the right experience to apply! --Rschen7754 04:59, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for the work you have done these two last years and happy contributions for the rest   Pamputt (talk) 06:04, 20 July 2015 (UTC)
😩 Thanks for your work. We will have 2 oversighters and I hope that someone who is active will apply for OS. Stryn (talk) 11:05, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

(Re) approval of the ProteinBoxBot on adding information on Genes on Wikidata

Upon a discussion in the notice board, we were requested not to add anything through our bot (ProteinBoxBot), until we got (re)approved. We took the opportunity to completely overhaul the bot code. The code is now ready and tested (i.e. we ran the requested test runs. We are eager to proceed with our efforts in enriching wikidata with info on genes. Is it enough to get reapproved, or do I need to take some additional steps? Andrawaag (talk) 15:46, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

@Andrawaag: Hello. On the English Wikipedia side, I am interested in this information being put into Wikidata as part of a project to include this information in English Wikipedia by route of Wikidata. This is being discussed on English Wikipedia. I am at hand to comment further. I cannot say anything about the mechanics of the bot because I do not understand it, but I can say that I support the idea of giving English Wikipedia access to this information. Ajuda

Eu gostaria que você proteja os dois artigo que foi recentemente editado por mim primeiro Patrícia Poeta, Willian Bonner. AliadoG (talk) 16:23, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

Wikidata hasn't got any articles, only items. Patrícia Poeta = Patrícia Poeta (Q3370128) and Willian Bonner doesn't have an item. And q3370128 doesn't look like it needs protection. If you need to Wikiquote articles to be protected, you need to contact an admin over there. Mbch331 (talk) 16:49, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

This looks like another sockpuppet of Tamawashi. The account was created a few hours ago and has already made several hundred edits to administrative regions, just like #Special:Contributions.2F80.134.89.98 above was doing (@GZWDer: pinging you since you started that section). This edit to a Kosovan municipality on enwiki restores a version of a page which was originally created by a suspected sockpuppet and the last edits by 80.134.89.98 before they were blocked were also to Kosovan municipalities. They've also commented on Talk:Q56061 pointing out cases where edits by 80.134.89.98 were reverted.

Also, unrelated to this, but thanks to everyone who supported my admin nomination. :)

Disruption at Template:Authority control properties

Further to a report I filed here last month, I'm sad to say that User:Kolja21 has again removed ORCID iD (P496) from the "International" section of {{Authority control properties}}, with an edit summary falsely accusing me of spamming. The same user still has a personal attack on their user page, accusing me of "massive PR". I one again request admin intervention to prevent their disruptive behaviour. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:02, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

Viewing random revisions, seems ORCID was in international previously. As such I have reverted to the status quo and in my reversion asked for a consensus to be reached. If this continues, I may decide to sysop protect the template as it seems it is a point of controversy and a source of disruption for several editors and does not contribute positively to the project every time an edit is made without consensus or countless edit wars. John F. Lewis (talk) 13:13, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
@John F. Lewis: Thank you. Now would you please addresses the false accusations? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:15, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
I've asked them to stop. At the moment I don't feel it goes to the level of needing full intervention from an administrator but definitely is not constructive and makes the environment toxic. John F. Lewis (talk) 13:22, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Pigsonthewing has been asked several times to stop his massive PR campaign for ORCID. It is not enough for him that ORCID - a social media account more like Facebook than Library of Congress authority ID (P244) - is part of Template:Authority control properties, ORCID must be in shown in the first line.[2] [3] He didn't edit this template except for promoting ORCID. It's now the second time Pigsonthewing is misusing the administrators' noticeboard to force his campaign. Imho this proves that he is not the right person as a Wikipedian in Residence. --Kolja21 (talk) 15:02, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Are you sure John F. Lewis there is no COI by Mr. ORCID? --Succu (talk) 21:54, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
@Kolja21: As I said in the previous section that was on AN... "well after looking at Template:Authority control properties for possibly the first time if you are going to remove ORCID shouldn't you also remove ResearcherId for the same reason?". IMO both should be left and they should be jointly discussed rather than this silly fighting.... If the reason for removal is that anyone can have one and that they are "a social media account more like Facebook" and the community consensus is not to include such things on the template then remove them. Otherwise keep them.. ·addshore· talk to me! 16:22, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
This one single template is not the problem. Nobody would care. What Wikipedians dislike are Pigsonthewings ORCID edits in Arabic WP, Portuguese WP, Tagalog WP, Russian WP, Finnish WP, Vietnamese WP and dozens more Wikipedias. He doesn't speak any of those languages and promotes ORCID and his personal ORCID homepage in English. If he is criticised he reacts aggressively. That's the problem. --Kolja21 (talk) 22:52, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
Is the problem caused by any actions by the user on Wikidata, or only on those local Wikipedia's? In the latter case, it are local matters and not Wikidata matters. If the template isn't the problem, then why an edit war on the template? Mbch331 (talk) 07:19, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
Well I haven't seen any discussion about that category on the Finnish Wikipedia, so I would not say that Finnish Wikipedia dislikes his edits. And personally I can't say my opinion about those categories (fi:Luokka:Wikipedian käyttäjien auktoriteettitunnisteet) because I don't know why should user pages contain those authority control links. Well, I'm going to start a discussion locally on fiwiki about that, since it's not a Wikidata matter. --Stryn (talk) 13:49, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
Without wanting to get into sides in this debate, it's very misleading to describe ORCID as a "social media account". It's an identifier, albeit an unusual one in that it can be user-created rather than always externally assigned. It's also about the only non-commercial academic identifier out there, and for that alone it's potentially very useful. Andrew Gray (talk) 18:24, 16 July 2015 (UTC)Flew

Sadly, the personal attacks continue; and I must again request admin intervention. cc User:John F. Lewis Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:08, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

Andy, you got a clear conflict of interest here. You work for ORCID and you're very aggressively promoting ORCID. Some people do consider that spamming and I think especially the German speaking community is sensitive about this. I don't consider this user being out of line. Oh, and @Kolja21: so he sees this.
