QLIT ID edit
Originally proposed at Wikidata:Property proposal/Authority control
Description | Identifier for an authorized term in Queerlit database. "To date, there are no scholarly inventories of Swedish LGBTQI (lesbian, gay, trans, queer, and intersex) literature (prose, poetry, drama), and the difficulty identifying texts with LGBTQI themes, motifs, or characters is an obstacle for further research. Queerlit is focused on the question of how the history of sexual and gender minorities can be made accessible through metadata and indexation, and how the historical conditions and current development in LGBTQI literature can be captured with these methods. The purpose of the project is to create a database of Swedish LGBTQI literature, and to develop the indexation of LGBTQI literature, serving to enable further research within the field." |

Motivation edit
From the English explanation on the About page: "The fiction in the Queerlit database depicts same-sex desire and transgressions of binary gender norms. Among other things, it thus contains LGBTQI figures. But not only. We have deliberately chosen to include stereotypes, images and delusions. Such depictions are an important part of our history—no matter how misleading they may be. Fiction can bring us insight into opinions, prejudices and fantasies that are otherwise difficult to access. In addition, fiction is particularly important for understanding the conditions of LGBTQI people, as minority groups are often underrepresented in archives." A database for LGBTQI fiction, and a thesaurus for indexation of such themes.Tore Danielsson (WMSE) (talk) 13:33, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

- Comment Should we preemptively include a “v1” in the property label, since the external concept URIs suggest there is room for future versions? (Do we generally do that? Or is that something we’d come back to in the (perhaps not even very likely) event that the administrators of the external Queerlit database decide to introduce another version?) ―BlaueBlüte (talk) 19:08, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
- Comment Can we come up with a slightly more informative description, for example include a mention of the University of Gothenburg, or say what the database is about? The repetition of “Queerlit” from the label is redundant and that name itself sounds somewhat generic. ―BlaueBlüte (talk) 19:08, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
Thank you very much for discussions, support and comments. Perhaps it can be useful to use the short description from the University of Gothenburg web page – QUEERLIT data base. I will ask the project about any planned coming versions and why or how they use the two different names here, QLIT and QUEERLIT. Tore Danielsson (WMSE) (talk) 07:57, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
- There is no version 2 planned right now so "v1" is only marked in case there is a revision in the future. I have changed the name of the property propsal to QLIT ID as the thesaurus is named QLIT and the project, bibliography and database is what is called Queerlit. - Thanks again! We are planning to do an upload of data in early August of the thesaurus and relevant books. There is also a video presentation of the project at YouTube now – in Swedish, but perhaps the automatic translation can be used, if this is of interest.
