Main page link

The Main page link in the sidebar points to the deleted [[Main Page]] article -- can it be updated to point to Wikidata:Main Page?

Remove Item by title

Suggestion: remove "Item by title". It seems to be confusing to users. They expect a search there, but it really doesn't work like this. I don't think that's a highly frequented page and warrants inclusion in the sidebar anymore, since the search has become so much better. Query Service

{{Edit request}} Direct link to Query Service from sidebar code - this is bad idea!

In my opinion, it is necessary to withstand the general principle and create two messages:

1. queryservice-url with url //query.wikidata.org/
2. queryservice with text label Query Service

   This label may be further localized.

   As example, queryservice/ru = Сервис запросов

So the proposed code for this sidebar line is: queryservice-url|queryservice

RecentChanges accesskey broken

The recent addition of the Lexicographical data section with its own Recent changes link has broken the regular Recent changes accesskey. Presumably this is because the message being used for the new link is also MediaWiki:Recentchanges (recentchanges in Mediawiki:Sidebar), causing it to share the same Mediawiki:Accesskey-n-recentchanges hotkey, overriding the original's. I think that duplicating MediaWiki:Recentchanges on a different Mediawiki page and pointing the new link to that would fix this. --Yair rand (talk) 05:03, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

Update for good localization

{{Edit request}} Several strings in the sidebar were not conveniently localizable. They are supposed to be conveniently localizable now after a fix was deployed.

Please change:

• "queryservice-url" to "wikibase-queryservice-url"
• "queryservice" to "wikibase-queryservice"
• "lexicographical-data" to "wikibase-lexeme-lexicographical-data"
• "randomlexeme-url" to "wikibase-lexeme-randomlexeme-url"
• "randomlexeme" to "wikibase-lexeme-randomlexeme"

Once this is done, test:

1. Open https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Sidebar?uselang=en and test:
   1. Everything in the sidebar must be written in English.
   2. "Query Service" must lead to the Query Service.
   3. "Random Lexeme" must lead to a random lexeme.
2. Open https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Sidebar?uselang=ru and test:
   1. Everything in the sidebar must be written in Russian.
   2. "Сервис запросов" must lead to the Query Service.
   3. "Случайная лексема" must lead to a random lexeme.

If the tests pass, please delete all the local messages that appear in these lists:

• Special:PrefixIndex/MediaWiki:Queryservice
• Special:PrefixIndex/MediaWiki:Lexicographical-data
• Special:PrefixIndex/MediaWiki:Randomlexeme
