MergeEdit

Please be careful: Q1413824 and Q12185286 are two different elements that didn't need to be merge, as you can see on the properties assigned to each one of them. Andreasm háblame / just talk to me 01:37, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

I see your point and would agree in theory, but in practice I stil think it would be useful to merge them, especially as there would not be any conflicts. --Joostik (talk) 16:54, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
On the contrary. Being separated, they can be used as statements in properties (Q1413824 with Property:P106 and Q12185286 with Property:P425 and others). Andreasm háblame / just talk to me 01:10, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
Depends on what you find more important. Most users don't care about properties, but they do follow language links. --Joostik (talk) 16:41, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

Unrelated merge noteEdit

Two things: Please list both the page you merge from and the page you merge to. I had to clean up a mess today (ugh; not your fault) that I wouldn't have realized was a mess without poking.

Second note: You might want to consider using the Merge gadget for merging. --Izno (talk) 01:59, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I know, I'm sorry. I usually do but was lazy this time. --Joostik (talk) 09:08, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation pagesEdit

Hi Joostik. I noted that you re-merged disambiguation pages named "Obraz" back into Image (Q185675). I moved them to a new item again, Q13628444, per the guidelines for disambiguation pages on Wikidata:Disambiguation pages task force. Regards, --Kam Solusar (talk) 19:13, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

Any particular guideline? --Joostik (talk) 08:09, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
Okay, I think I see the guideline. Frankly, and that's not just my opinion but I heard from others as well, it's an utterly ridiculous guideline. --Joostik (talk) 18:15, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
Hmm, I would like to see these items merged too. And I don't like this understanding of the guideline. --Infovarius (talk) 18:52, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Delete reasonEdit

Hi, could you please use better reason than just "empty"? If you have merged the items, it's better to write something like "merged with Q123456". This way admins can delete those items faster. --Stryn (talk) 13:08, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

Okay. --Joostik (talk) 14:42, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

Q5675296Edit

Hey Joostik, I have replied to your deletion request at Wikidata:Requests_for_deletions#Q5675296. Delsion23 (talk) 23:10, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

Merge gadgetEdit

Hey Joostik , Just so you know, there is a gadget in your preferences that when activated allows you to merge items automatically. It can even send the emptied items to RfD automatically. There is more info at Help:Merge. It's such a useful feature :) Cheers. --Vivaelcelta (talk) 20:59, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

  • Thank you very much; I'll look into it! --Joostik (talk) 21:03, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
    • As an added note, you can set your merge gadget to merge to the lower Q number so that the older item is kept :) Thanks. Delsion23 (talk) 22:12, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

Q10972215Edit

Why have you merged template and category? --Infovarius (talk) 13:19, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

  • You are right; sorry for that. I must have not been paying enough attention. --Joostik (talk) 18:11, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Q2006180Edit

Hallo, Joostik. Why did you merge Q2006180 with Q14438808? The articles in Esperanto (eowp) and Dutch (nlwp) have an other topic than the articles in German (dewp), English (enwp) and Portuguese (ptwp). --Tlustulimu (talk) 15:31, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

From the English wiki: "L. L. Zamenhof, the inventor of Esperanto, called a table of systematic interrogative, demonstrative, and quantifier pro-forms and determiners in a language a table of correlatives, after the relative and demonstrative proforms, which function together as correlatives. The table of correlatives for English follows." So they are either essentially about the same thing or the English wiki should be rewritten. --Joostik (talk) 14:39, 15 April 2015 (UTC)
I think, that the English article mixes the both topics. :-( I propose, that you undo the merge and let the English article in the group with the German and Portuguese articles. It isn't possible to link an article with two groups in Wikidata. Do you have an other idea?
Do you edit in the English wikipedia? If yes, you can propose there the separation of the chapter in an own article. --Tlustulimu (talk) 12:06, 17 April 2015 (UTC)
I'll try to sort it out in the near future, when I'm back from holyday. --Joostik (talk) 08:07, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

instance of (P31)Edit

Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 17:35, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Groten, Bever (talk) 23:28, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

Hartelijke groet, Spinster (talk) 20:36, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

Vasily mergesEdit

Hi Joostik,

I undid some of your merges as they combined different scripts and/or spelling. I also tried to fix some of the item before the merges. Wikidata:WikiProject Names/lists/given names/Vasily should give an overview. --- Jura 17:22, 9 November 2018 (UTC)

About note (Q12823770) and footnote (Q59615872)Edit

Hello! When you unbundle so many interlinks to another item, you should at list do the same with the relative labels and description (as I did here), otherwise you leave a big confusion behind you. --Horcrux (talk) 11:06, 11 December 2018 (UTC)

Thank you! Sorry for that. To be honest I didn't realise you could make them visible for all languages (actually you'd expect them to migrate automaticaly with the item, but that's clearly not the case). Yours, Joostik (talk) 17:05, 11 December 2018 (UTC)

BraidEdit

“Braid” (the structure) and “braid” (trim used in sewing) should not have been merged. Among other things, braid (trimming) usually isn’t braided. The Getty Art & Architecture Thesaurus has two separate entries for these concepts for a reason. Can you undo this merge, please? - PKM (talk) 19:07, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

Okay, restored the old versions. Joostik (talk) 19:15, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

RequestEdit

Hello.

Can you create the article about the prominent actor en:Haluk Bilginer in Dutch?

Thank you.

Sarvathi (talk) 17:03, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

Pan Grave CultureEdit

Hey Joostik, I noticed there were two wikidata items on the Pan Grave Culture (one added by you with a link to wiki-nl, as well as another one with wiki-es and wiki-de links). I wanted to help out and merge them, but I seem to have made a mess of it. Q1665306 is the most complete, but I think I messed up my redirect from Q61832307 and I don't know if and how I can delete that one. My apologies. WikiLies (talk) 20:19, 23 February 2019 (UTC)

Thank you! I really searched for different-languages articles, but somehow did not find these. The redirect seems to be allright now, though? Joostik (talk) 22:19, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure a bot solved the issue! Phew! WikiLies (talk) 09:30, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
