scientific article labels edit

Hi Maxwan. I'm wondering why you are formatting the labels of scientific article items as (for example) "Basaltic Meteorites / Harry Y. McSween Jr. and Edward M. Stolper. - (6.1980)". Per Help:Label, only the proper title of the article should be used as a label... supporting details can go in the description. See "Labels can be ambiguous" and "Disambiguation information belongs in the description" specifically on that help page. I would request that you no longer format labels as you have been, and to please go back and remove the extra information on items you've been working on to bring them to standards. Don't include NACE codes in titles edit

Hi Maxwan!

I see you've been adding NACE codes at the beginning of industry titles eg "11.01 Distilling, rectifying and blending of spirits". I don't think that's right: no other titles start with some specific coding, and consider there are at least 20 other classification systems (eg ISIC, SIC, NAICS, GICS, ICB...) Please remove them, thanks! --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 07:28, 5 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Maxwan: Any response? --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 08:34, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Use "subclass of" not "has part" to make the hierarchy edit

WikiProject Taxonomy has more than 50 participants and couldn't be pinged. Please post on the WikiProject's talk page instead.

Hi @Maxwan: please use subclass of (P279) rather than has part(s) (P527) and part of (P361) to make the NACE industry hierarchy. Why:

Thanks in advance for fixing this! --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 08:41, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Invalid NACE codes (these are NACEBEL) edit

You've added a number of invalid NACE codes. You can see a lot of them at the beginning of this query: https://w.wiki/4SEY.

There are many other problems with these entries:

  • The title should not mention "(NACE: code)"
  • These should be merged to appropriate items (usually all of them have English titles)
  • The parent (hierarchical) link should be "subclass of" not "part of": Growing of cereals and other crops n.e.c.

Thanks for fixing this! --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 16:39, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

NACE codes apply only to Industries edit

NACE codes apply only to Industries (economic activities).

You have applied NACE code "13.30" to eg British Cotton and Wool Dyers Association, Ltd. (Q100790265).

Please fix all such errors. Thanks! --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 16:57, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Works and Editions edit

Please do not add information about a specific edition to the data item for a work. Each work usually exists in multiple editions, and scans of specific editions, and publication about those specific editions, should be placed on the data items for those editions, and not mixed in with information about the work in general. --EncycloPetey (talk) 20:53, 28 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Embryo at GND edit

Although the label for 4014555-4 at GND is ambiguous, the "other data" listings, as well as the Dewey Classifications listed, make clear that this ID is for human embryos. Embryos in general would be in 578, since it would cover plants, animals, fungi, algae, etc. Any listing in the 610s is specifically human medicine, and not general biology. --EncycloPetey (talk) 18:47, 7 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Amerikanische Unternehmen edit

Hallo Maxwan,

Maxwan (talk) 20:51, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

may Fendel-Schiffahrts-Aktiengesellschaft (Q107167366) be considered a duplicate, or not?-- U. M. Owen (talk) 08:05, 17 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

It's a duplicate. Thanks for your consideration. Maxwan (talk) 12:59, 17 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

made from material edit

I'm not convinced that [1] this is correct, appropriate and reasonable way to achieve what you want. In fact, I think otherwise. On one hand, this was never the intention with this property to be used with chemical substances to indicate reagents used to synthesise something. This was rather a property for materials used to made something using physical methods, not chemical ones. On the other hand, it is not feasible to use that: chemical substances can be prepared using various of methods. There are probably dozens if not hundreds of methods of preparing acetylene, with much more reagents that can be used for this. Putting dozens or hundreds of statements like this would give no information at all, as it would be a collection of different chemical compounds in no way related to each other, with no way of knowing which of them reacts with which others.

Probably a slightly better solution would be to create a separate item describing a given chemical reaction, specifying the reactants in this item, and in the case of acetylene only stating that it can be formed in such a reaction. However, so far no one has discussed how chemical reactions should be modelled in WD, and some preliminary discussions are just emerging in the WikiProject Chemistry. Thanks for your contribution. I agree with you that this entry is ambiguous because there could be several possibilities. Maxwan (talk) 15:30, 24 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Mary Elizabeth Boyle Q116871198 edit

Hi! I have removed US as nationality of Mary Elizabeth Boyle as I can't find any sources that support that statement. It's clear that she was born in Scotland and lived there and in some other European countries, mostly France, also Spain and Italy, as also in South Africa. I've read this article, which comes from a North American source. If you have a source to state otherwise, please do add it with a reference. Thanks! B25es (talk) 18:44, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
