@Rua: Let's collect possible values for this qualifier:

What else? I wonder about gerund (Q1923028) KaMan (talk) 07:18, 21 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Anything that's a subclass of derivation (Q728001), really. —Rua (mew) 08:54, 21 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
I just noticed one of those subclasses is compounding (Q29445010), but we already have combines lexemes (P5238) too. —Rua (mew) 08:55, 21 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Rua: Perhaps we could drop combines lexemes (P5238) in the future in favor to compounding (Q29445010) to make etymology system simpler to use. Because of this split Wikidata Lexeme Graph Builder had to be extended to allow two properties at once. KaMan (talk) 09:26, 21 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
That probably makes sense, but the question is which of the two parts of the word is compounded. In Germanic, Finnic and Samic I'm inclined to say that the last part (the head) stays the same and that the first part is compounded onto it. For example, in sámegiella (L558) the first part is modified to fit onto the second. In Slavic you have compound words, where the first part has an -o added onto it before it's attached to the second. We could also simply say that both words are compounded, but this doesn't always make sense. You have compounds like long-legged (L23252) and guhkesjuolggat (L23100) where there is both compounding and affixation at the same time. Neither "legged" nor "long-leg" are words, so you can't see them as separate stages, the entire word is created at once.
What doesn't make sense to me is that diminutive and augmentative are modes of derivation. In Dutch you create diminutives by suffixation, and as far as I know it's the same in Polish. —Rua (mew) 09:42, 21 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Rua: Yes, it's the same in Polish. So do you suggest me to convert them all to combines lexemes (P5238) with some suffix? I can handle this. But where to write it's diminutive or augmentative. With instance of (P31) in lexeme? KaMan (talk) 10:01, 21 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
I'd say so, yes, but there probably need to be subclassed items for diminutive noun, diminutive adjective etc. I also proposed Wikidata:Property proposal/creates to allow you to specify on a suffix lexeme, what kind of thing is created by it. But that will have to wait until senses are added. —Rua (mew) 10:04, 21 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Rua: I've created diminutive noun (Q56682890), diminutive adjective (Q56682891) and diminutive adverb (Q56682895) and already started to use them Special:WhatLinksHere/Q56682891. KaMan (talk) 16:24, 21 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
