Function details: --GautierPoupeau (talk) 11:08, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- @GautierPoupeau: Comment can you make around 50 test edits, so we can see that the bot works? --Tobias1984 (talk) 21:01, 18 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- OK I try this week-end --GautierPoupeau (talk) 09:36, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- @GautierPoupeau: You have not registered "GPUBot". Please register one via Special:UserLogin/signup and make some test edits.--GZWDer (talk) 10:59, 31 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- @GautierPoupeau: You're probably running bot in your main account. If you want to make GPUBot approved, please create a account names GPUBot and run bot via this username.--GZWDer (talk) 12:26, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- @GZWDer: I didn't understand bot account was a specific user account, I thank you for this information. You're right, I used my main account. When I will find back a better web connection, I will create an account and I will test my bot again. Thank you for your help GautierPoupeau (talk) 17:16, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

- Edits look fine to me, they just need some kind of source indicating they came from dbpedia. Are there any licensing issues here given that dbpedia data is not CC-0? [1] Legoktm (talk) 23:44, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- I made some tests with GPUBot account but I was blocked by the spam warning. I added a source : French Wikipedia (Q8447) because I used data from french Dbpedia. I don't know if there are any licensing issues, Dbpedia's Licences are the same than Wikipedia, is there a problem with that ? GautierPoupeau (talk) 18:08, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- I gave your bot the
'confirmed'
permission so that it doesn't get stopped by the CAPTCHA. The Anonymouse [talk] 14:52, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]- I made some tests and that works fine now. Thank you @The Anonymouse: Can I use this bot to make my contributions ? GautierPoupeau (talk) 15:19, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- Wikidata does not use the same license as Wikipedia; see the bottom of the page for details. The data in items have to be in the public domain, or CC0. dbpedia is CC-BY-SA, which is not compatible. I'm not sure if this is a problem or not, considering you are not copying the data directly, per se.
- Besides licensing concerns, everything else seems fine. The Anonymouse [talk] 16:09, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

- Support. Looks fine. I dont see more concerns with copyrights than for other bots extracting data from Wikipedia (except that DBpedia is already a database ?). I would support chainging Wikidata license to make it more compatible with other Wikimedia projects, but that is another issue.--Zolo (talk) 09:33, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

- Support I am doing a similar work with ShonagonBot. About the issue of reutilizing data from DBpedia (data extracted from Wikipedia) and Wikicommons, I really don't see the problem, because Wikidata is first an extraction of Wikipedia metadata and the main source for imported from Wikimedia project (P143) is still at 90% Wikipedia ; it's a similar work here. I agree that is important to put source with imported from Wikimedia project (P143) ; it's done now. So it's more than ok, it's great, welcome and go on! --Shonagon (talk) 01:40, 9 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
