Anomalies and potential corrections edit

Discussion edit

Reason for changing fromatter URL edit

The old formatter URL ("http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=$1") doesn't work, I replaced it with a new one: "http://list.historicengland.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=$1". I'm still working on finding a reference. It might have something to do with English Heritage being spun off into a charity recently (was formerly a government entity), and the restructuring that followed. Historic England is now the government entity that replaces English Heritage's role in the government. --BurritoBazooka (talk) 00:13, 13 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

This is the best I can do for a reference for now. It details how English Heritage was spun off into a charity, and the government entity called Historic England remains: https://historicengland.org.uk/about/what-we-do/historic-england-and-english-heritage/ --BurritoBazooka (talk) 01:59, 13 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Query edit

This shouldn't list items with a Cadw Building ID (P1459) - adding MINUS { ?item wdt:P1459 [] } to the end of the query seems to remove them. It still lists buildings in England and Wales, but I'm not sure if there's an easy way of separating them with the information in the items without adding each local government district to the query. Peter James (talk) 16:30, 22 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

I've added this to the query. Peter James (talk) 21:35, 2 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Constraints edit

World Heritage Site (Q9259) and protected shipwreck (Section 1) (Q21408194) should probably be allowed as heritage status; protected shipwreck (Section 2) (Q21408206) also says heritage status but I'm not sure it is. There's Grade I listed park and garden (Q26789527) which is for Registered park or garden (Q21405908) at grade I; I've used it but it isn't defined properly and there are no items to specify grade II* or II status. Download a dump edit

At this page, a data dump of the National Heritage List for England seems to be downloadable. However, Historic England (Q19604421) asks for a lot of personal details which I am not willing to share with them. Does anyone have an idea whether we can have their data dump without registering?

I plan to update ~1.12M references of the form "imported from Wikimedia project (P143): English Heritage (Q936287)" to a more appropriate format. To do so, I want to verify the claims against the database and need this data dump. If anybody can help me, please contact me here (with ping), on my talk page or via email. start time edit

On adding a start time to Q7796399 I get a message that this is not a valid qualifier. This and possibly an end time should be added. Agathoclea (talk) 09:44, 5 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Start time and end time should be valid, but in this case it was for the heritage status, as the identifier is more recent. I assumed the listing was at the same grade. Peter James (talk) 21:35, 2 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

I've added this as a valid qualifier as used on Fleet Building Murals (Q27087535) (which was listed, moved, then listed again at its new location). Peter James (talk) 15:52, 6 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Constraint error edit

"An entity with National Heritage List for England number should also have a statement country United Kingdom." - Not really. Wales and Scotland have their own government bodies for heritage status, so this should be "should also have a statement country England". Rodhullandemu (talk) 16:53, 17 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Does it really need a label in British English edit

The constraint on requiring a label in British English, rather than English, is nit-picking, as in 99.9% of times the values will be the same Vicarage (talk) 08:20, 3 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

The history tells the tale here. It's part of my 21. march 2023 job of converting complex constraints into 'label in language' constraints. This was converted into an ORed statement so that it would accept english OR british-english. This was later changed by another user, probably because KrBot2 doesn't handle this variant, but works with standalone constraints. This is kind of a big deal since you can't have constraint violation reports without it.
I haven't noticed anyone get picky about asking people to specify british-english labels. The only picky tendencies I detected when I did the conversion was people asking for labels in catalan but not spanish, which just strikes me as weird. Most of the places it was just a matter of allowing for variants of the main language, such as traditional chinese or simplified chinese or taiwan-chinese.
A complete overview over label languages and missing ones can be found at Wikidata:WikiProject_property_constraints.
I'm inclined to trust a British person's judgement here, so just go ahead and remove the constraint. Infrastruktur (talk) 10:48, 3 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Changed from en-gb to en. Vicarage (talk) 15:46, 3 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Single value constraint to be removed edit

The single value constraint is inappropriate, as the same site can have different Listed Building and Scheduled Ancient Monument entries, in the same database. See Dunster Castle (Q2969173) Vicarage (talk) 09:50, 15 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Vicarage: We have 398,859 items using this property of which 776 have more than one value. That's 0.19%. Removal would be very inappropriate. The separator has already been configured so just add it. Multichill (talk) 20:40, 15 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
