Q105080687 and Q105080700
These two items were created for use as values for qualifier end cause (P1534) of spouse (P26). These unnecessarily duplicate the function of existing items death of subject (Q99521170) and death of subject's spouse (Q24037741). (There is no one-to-one correspondence, so a merge is not in order.) Additionally, the two new items contain English-specific gendered possessive pronouns, require additional logic to determine if a person is deceased or widowed, and do not function at all for same-sex couples.
Here and here are previous discussions on this topic, which resulted in near-unanimous consensus that the items are not necessary. The only contributor who has spoken out in favor of the items is the person who created them in the first place @Richard_Arthur_Norton_(1958-_): - here is where I attempted to reach out to him.
I have already carefully and manually converted all death of spouse data to use death of subject (Q99521170) and death of subject's spouse (Q24037741). The what-links-here for both items in question should be clear. --Phillipedison1891 (talk) 02:57, 4 December 2022 (UTC)

- I agree to Delete. I see no structural need for the new items and thus they are not notable. While understanding what death of subject means, requires the reader to understand what the term subject means, readers can learn. In this case a reader who doesn't know, can easily figure it out by looking at the actual dates of death of the two people. If the reader does, the reader learns what the term subject means within Wikidata which is going to be helpful for them in other cases as well.
- Using his/her makes it more complicated to automatically evaluate which person is meant. Gender itself is also a hugely complex subject. sex or gender (P21) is able to capture the complexities of gender, but a simply his death/her death distinction isn't. In homosexual relationships his/her is not a way you can distinguish the two spousal partners. I think the new labels of death of subject and death of subject's spouse are a good improvement. Comment Wouldn’t an even more general name for death of subject's spouse (Q24037741) be “death of object”? At least that would make it truly complementary to death of subject (Q99521170). However, there is another Wikidata object (Q506) which contains multiple articles in different languages on the same topic.
