Motivation edit

The United States Coast Guard (Q11224) issues Manufacturer's Identification Code ("MIC") to identify boat manufacturers and importers in the USA. It is listed as a Federal dataset from USCG on data.gov. It will help better identify and remove duplicate boat manufacturing company (Q73126803). Example of what the property would look like USCG manufacturers list (Q106135311) Simon.letort (talk) 19:27, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot for the various   Support. Given that it's been a week since proposal, I changed to status=ready.   WikiProject Properties has more than 50 participants and couldn't be pinged. Please post on the WikiProject's talk page instead. Simon.letort (talk) 19:24, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Vladimir Alexiev, Simon.letort: It takes a day or two before the links become active. That is normal. Check again in another day. I didn't add the short name constraint. It was added after I created the property. I don't see why that should be a constraint either, but if there is a good reason for it, it should not be mandatory. @Vladimir Alexiev: 1- formatterURL now shows as link. 2- Mix-n-Match Catalog 4346, and also as csv file (I'm working on adding the coordinate location). 3- I plan to use short name (P1813) with qualifier Q106366270 to input the 3 letter USCG MIC code, exemple JBO for J/Boats (Q85770361). Simon.letort (talk) 04:50, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Vladimir Alexiev  , Hello Simon.letort   Many abbreviations or code are already used in short name (P1813), when creating this property: example, Ph. D (See Aliases). I added: USCG MIC (P9411)qualifier for this property (P8379)code (P3295). You can remove formatter URL (P1630) if you want to put the MIC instead, but you cannot include the MIC in the URL you provided (as I wrote before, the link fails). If you don't want to put P1813 in the items used by this property, you can use code (P3295). It takes all your problems away from you, Vladimir. With this property, you have the option to add it as a qualifier or as a main value (like the change I made on P9411). While preparing the filling of WD, I realize that this site is filled with a lot of errors even in the MICs! Simon, there was no need to create Q106366270, applicable 'stated in' value (P9073) is expected to reference datas from this site (so with USCG manufacturers list (Q106135311)). You can add required qualifier constraint (Q21510856) to P9411 to force to put the MIC with P3295, for example. Or item-requires-statement constraint (Q21503247) as I had done: really no need to do another property for that. Cordially. —Eihel (talk) 06:36, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Eihel  . Thanks again for your knowledgeable input. I now understand how to use code (P3295) as a qualifier for USCG MIC (P9411). I've updated J/Boats (Q85770361) and Catalina Yachts (Q5051288) accordingly. And I'll clean up the rest of the "mess" in the next days: remove Q106366270, add required qualifier constraint (Q21510856) and add code (P3295) to the 35 items with a MIC.
