Old formatter URL still validEdit

@Succu: You deleted the old value, theorically in the wikidata spirit, this would have been better to deprecate it. I readded the statement and maybe we should put it back at preferred rank because after a mail to the IUCN guys (the contact mail on the API) i learned that the old url are now redirectd to the new pages. I’ll do it actually, it’s better than to redirect to the old site. author  TomT0m / talk page 16:49, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

@Succu, TomT0m: both url are not working any more. fr example for Canis aureus (Q128098) the url was https://www.iucnredlist.org/apps/redlist/details/118264161/0 and now it is https://www.iucnredlist.org/species/118264161/46194820. The url change (from apps/redlist/details to species), the previous ID is still the same but it have a second one (in the old URL all species have 0 and now it is different number for each one. you can compare to black-backed jackal (Q188944) that it new URL is https://www.iucnredlist.org/species/3755/46122476). not sure what we can do. for now it is probably better to use the old website (http://oldredlist.iucnredlist.org/details/118264161/0). - yona b (talk) 19:18, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
The redirect works for me. --Succu (talk) 08:01, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
Hm, Canis aureus has a global and a local assessment... --Succu (talk) 08:16, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
Do you have any idea, how to change the formatter URL (P1630) ? Texaner (talk) 12:31, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
Looks like https://apiv3.iucnredlist.org/api/v3/taxonredirect/118264161 works. --Succu (talk) 13:14, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
yes the api work for me too. - yona b (talk) 18:46, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

Shouldn't this be an External identifier instead of String?Edit

I'm not well versed in data analytics or programming, but why isn't this property considered an External identifier? The arbitrary ID linking to the IUCN profile is not an inherent property of the taxon. Why is this property in a different class of Data type than ITIS TSN (P815), GBIF taxon ID (P846), and virtually all other external taxonomic database profiles? -Animalparty (talk) 05:43, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

Proposal - Change Data type of IUCN taxon ID (P627) from String to External identifierEdit

I think String is the wrong type for IUCN taxon ID (P627). Can we please change it to be External identifier.

As per Help:Data_type#Changing_datatype please indicate support/opposition below. Iwan.Aucamp (talk) 16:51, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
