is probably a unapproved bot and sock of NowProperty.--GZWDer (talk) 16:12, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

Are the added values wrong? Ajraddatz (Talk) 16:14, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
At least unapproved bot is illegal.--GZWDer (talk) 16:36, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
It isn't editing very fast for a bot, and it's stopped now. I really don't like blocking things unless they are doing something wrong - adding bad properties and the like. My inaction shouldn't set a precedent though; any other admin is free to do what they will with this. Ajraddatz (Talk) 16:39, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

I've filed a request for CheckUser at m:SRCU#Sanela@wikidatawiki, as it is a possible case of sockpuppetry.--Jasper Deng (talk) 07:56, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

Update: All the accounts mentioned are   Confirmed (per the CheckUser request) and have been actioned accordingly.--Jasper Deng (talk) 08:24, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
Per SRCU, there're one user operating it. Please contact this user and let him(her) make a request in WD:RFBOT.--GZWDer (talk) 12:08, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

Autopatroller

Were autopatrollers abolished while I was away? Can't seem to be able to give that permission anymore... Thx Littledogboy (talk) 14:02, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

The permissions have been merged with (auto)confirmed. John F. Lewis (talk) 14:07, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

Is this a bug? Please help me fixing!

Hi guys, http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulo_Coelho

If you click in the English link from the PORTUGUESE page, you will be redirected to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Paulo_Coelho

When you should go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulo_Coelho

The funny thing is, I have edited the wikidata links from this article, and it is redirecting to PAULO COELHO, not TEMPLATE:PAULO COELHO.

Can you guys help me fix that? Please? Perene (talk) 14:32, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

I solved the problem by opening https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulo_Coelho?action=purge --Fomafix (talk) 15:23, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
You didn't ;) I fixed it, look at this. Iw-links were not inside of noinclude-tags. --Stryn (talk) 15:25, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

Currently, I'm not able to use merge feature on IE browser.

I have been used it on IE10 since before, but now the button has gone. Even I've already checked my gadget feature activated, but still I can't use the gadget. Is it only me having the same problem? Or do you have any solution for me?-Priviet (talk) 07:16, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

Works on IE11 and FF25. Maybe problem is just on IE10, if someone else could try it and comment here? --Stryn (talk) 07:24, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
IE sucks, administrators don't have anything to do with this. --Ricordisamoa 08:08, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
If it would have been something wrong with the Gadgets, it would have been a admins task, but I do not think it is.
Myself is now experiencing some problem when I add values to properties with time-datatype in IE11. The cursor and the text I add, do not synchronize, they are 1-2 seconds behind my typing. I do not think this either is any Gadget who have problem, it's just Javascript who also sucks, like it always do. -- Lavallen (talk) 09:48, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
Fortunately, It was just a temporary problem. Thank you for all advice of you. -Priviet (talk) 14:15, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

Inactive admin

I want to make discussion here. We have 2 inactive admin in now. OK. do Waring is fine. But My knowledge In every 1st, that admin define as a inactive admin (less than 10 actions in 6 month ). Than going request removal. There is any discussion that should notice and warning before 24 hrs or more day before removal ?--DangSunM (talk) 15:50, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

Two inactive admin became one: NuvieK's sysop permission is removed. --by Revi at 07:38, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
The point of this discussion in case anyone missed it, was because I asked 분당선M to give a little more warning than 24 hours to someone we are desysopping. One of the two he mentioned was fairly active (but not active all the time) and he was warned that in 24 hours he was going to be desysopped and he was 1 action short. Luckily they came back and made a few. 24 hours is not enough, however, and if someone gets caught up doing something offline and they are a couple actions short, it's not particularly fair if they just can't make it to a computer within 24 hours. And with no way to regain adminship other than RFA again, it makes it all the worse. We just need to extend good faith to our less than active administrators that they come back and do something with an earlier warning. The point of inactivity policies is to desysop administrators who are no longer here, not to get rid of administrators who are here but fall short of our standards by pushing them out the door forcibly. Regards, — Moe Epsilon 16:58, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Well, in my opinion we don't even have to notify them. Every admin should know if they will be desysopped soon. So 24 hours is enough, and for me also no notifying at all is ok. As Vogone has said, this sounds like playing... if they are not active enough, they will be desysopped, it's not our problem. --Stryn (talk) 17:02, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
You guys honestly believe that in the 90 (95 if you include WMDE) administrators we have, we have admins that are just "playing" the inactive game for the fun of it, even though there has been no evidence of that? That doesn't seem like good faith at all.. it sounds like paranoia. Like I said, inactivity policies deal with the people who really aren't here, they shouldn't be desysopping administrators who are (semi)active editors who came a little short on the number of admin actions and punish them. Regards, — Moe Epsilon 17:34, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
No, not all 90. But we already had problems with a tiny minority of them which once even lead to an admin acting pretty clueless when he tried to escape from an inactivity desysop with some unfortunate actions (this even lead to an RFC by another community member, by the way).
"The point of inactivity policies is to desysop administrators who are no longer here, not to get rid of administrators who are here but fall short of our standards"
This is just wrong. The community explicitly decided against a policy which would save for example administrators who edit, but don't use their administrative access. The point of the policy is to have only administrators who are up-to-date regarding policies as they change a lot and regularly on a beta project like Wikidata. A user who uses his access 10 times only after a warning on his own user talk page certainly does not fulfil this criteria. I don't particularly disagree to any kind of warning but I find it a bit useless and in no way convenient. But a solution as recently proposed by YMS (warn only once, but 3 months beforehand) could be a method to keep some more admins active here. Regards, Vogone talk 18:00, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
One more sentence regarding RFAs. I think it is still pretty easy to obtain adminship here and if a formerly active administrator comes back some time with the motivation to get active again after having been desysopped for inactivity, I don't think he would have any problems to pass. As our RFAs also only take 7 days, going through this process should be no problem at all, either. Vogone talk 18:08, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
My only reply to this is that I think it's a mistake for you think that an active, editing administrator who doesn't perform as many actions doesn't know how to use the tools. Policies and the community do change rapidly, but someone who is an active editor will surely keep up with that, even if an administrative action isn't performed. I've been largely inactive from en.wikipedia for a period of two years at one point, and I was still up-to-date on it because I was around, just not actively participating. Regards, — Moe Epsilon 19:18, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
I think there is a slight difference between Wikipedia and Wikidata as on Wikidata additionally much more software changes occur (compare Wikidata in 2012 with Wikidata how it is now). Anyway, what you have written above is your opinion and I don't think it is wrong to think like that, it's just not what the community decided in the RFC. :) Vogone talk 20:19, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
The community never decided against giving inactive admins reasonable notice about being desysopped, and that's something I think we should do. I also don't buy into the concept of an admin needing to use the tools at least 10 times in 6 months to still know how to use them. If anything, a regularly-editing admin might have more clue what is going on that one who only uses the tools to clear RfD. But yes, we must be defined by a "consensus" of the past involving a fraction of the community who turned out to vote on such an issue... Ajraddatz (Talk) 05:38, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
Not knowing all of the policy is not a problem, as long as you know where to find it. To be honest, I have never known the policy/practice for counter-vandalism anywhere. -- Lavallen (talk) 16:48, 3 December 2013 (UTC) (Who has been promoted to sysop four times.)
"The community never decided against giving inactive admins reasonable notice about being desysopped"
Yes, that's true but as I've already explained I find this a pretty useless thing to do and thus nothing which should be regulated by a policy or guideline like for example Jasper Deng proposed. Anyway, everyone is free to write on other user's talk pages and if there are admins who are willing to waste their spare time on warning inactive administrators there is nothing which prevents them from doing so. Vogone talk 14:53, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
I find highly unfair that an actively editing administrator gets desysopped just because he decided to stop using his tools. If the user is editing, he surely is aware of all the updates on the wiki, and we should take that into account when considering a possible desysop. I think that common sense should trump the actual wording of the policy, and that we should enforce inactivity desysops only when the user is truly gone (e.g. has not edited at all in a couple of months). — ΛΧΣ21 15:05, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
"I find highly unfair that an actively editing administrator gets desysopped just because he decided to stop using his tools."
Where is the point in having the sysop tools then? A user who decided not to use his sysop access anymore also doesn't need it. The sysop flag is still not a trophy which you carry around to show what a great contributor you are. Vogone talk 15:20, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
I have a different perspective of it. What if you simply moved on to a different area of the wiki and stopped using the tools because they suddently became useless to you? You wouldn't have them gone because you can go back to what you used to do before (which would mean you would use your tools again) or you can be of help to anyone who needs a sysop. Being an administrator is not a trophy, but it makes no harm to leave the tools to someone who had our trust when we first gave it to them, specially if they are still editing. — ΛΧΣ21 18:59, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
Might be better to start a thread on project chat to change the policy. Ajraddatz (Talk) 15:11, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
You guys (pinging all involved in above conversation: Vogone, Hahc21, Ajraddatz, Lavallen, Moe Epsilon, Stryn, Hym411, 분당선M): Can you please take this to RFC or elsewhere? AN is not the appropriate place to resolve questions of policy. --Izno (talk) 15:51, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
I do have a watchlist :) Vogone talk 16:36, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
Me too :) And I agree that an RfC on this matter would be a good idea. — ΛΧΣ21 18:59, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

  • mw.user.anonymous() is deprecated (mw:ResourceLoader/Default modules#mw.user.anonymous) and should be replaced by mw.user.isAnon().
  • window.wpAvailableLanguages only used in the included file and should only be defined, when the file is used. The languages are redundant to wb.getLanguageNameByCode() and should be merged some day.
  • I updated the definition.

--Fomafix (talk) 09:34, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

I updated wpAvailableLanguages (did not check the changes, but it's the version from the given source) and replaced the deprecated function. I did not move the wpAvailableLanguages definition into the if. You're probably right with what you're saying, but is there a way to check whether some user script is using this global variable? --YMS (talk) 09:52, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
The search just finds Wikidata:Administrators' noticeboard/Archive/2013/04 and MediaWiki:Common.js. --Fomafix (talk) 10:16, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
Done The search function ... sometimes the answer to questions like "where do I find..." can be so easy. Completed the requested changes. --YMS (talk) 17:13, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Undelete Q235389

And merge Q14220749 to it. Q235389 is used in 14 pages.--GZWDer (talk) 15:31, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

Done - Also switched any statements using Q14220749 to use Q235389 instead. TCN7JM 15:39, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

Block of User:KrattBot

I have blocked KrattBot (talkcontribslogs) until such time as the bot operator (WikedKentaur (talkcontribslogs)) stops the bot and fixes the errors. See also User talk:WikedKentaur#Coords for spacecraft. Another admin is free to unblock the bot when the bot operator has stopped the bot and (promised to) fixed the code. --Izno (talk) 14:56, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

@WikedKentaur: the bot is still blocked since then. Any updates? --Ricordisamoa 15:38, 11 December 2013 (UTC)
The operator asked me to unblock the bot at my talk page, which I denied. I have not heard since his request. --Izno (talk) 16:29, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

While investigating on a bug in the AuthorityControl gadget, I discovered that the script's performance could be improved. I have uploaded a fixed and optimized new version that runs approximately 5 times faster than the current script. Henning (WMDE) (talk) 17:14, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

Done Thanks! The Anonymouse (talk) 17:35, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
Does not work correct with all qualifiers. See IUCN conservation status (P141) in Podocarpus annamiensis (Q1024023). --Succu (talk) 07:37, 7 December 2013 (UTC) Some references are broken too e.g. taxon name (P225) in blue water-speedwell (Q159711). --Succu (talk) 12:37, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
@Henning (WMDE): --Izno (talk) 13:53, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

Sorry that the script had some flaws. I updated User:Henning (WMDE)/AuthorityControl.js adding the left-out qualifiers detection, fixing references detection and some additional issues. While the lines of code increase, still, the script's performance improvement stays on the same level. Henning (WMDE) (talk) 12:09, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

MediaWiki:Gadget-labelLister.js is vulnerable against JavaScript injection. You can see this on Q4115189

I created a new version of this gadget and fixed this and some other errors. Please copy User:Fomafix/MediaWiki:Gadget-labelLister.js to MediaWiki:Gadget-labelLister.js. --Fomafix (talk) 10:49, 17 November 2013 (UTC)

The loading of the gadget can be speed-up per mw:ResourceLoader by changing in MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition the line

* labelLister|labelLister.js

to

* labelLister[ResourceLoader|dependencies=mediawiki.util,mediawiki.notify,jquery.ui.dialog,jquery.tipsy]|labelLister.js

All modules mediawiki.util, mediawiki.notify, jquery.ui.dialog and jquery.tipsy already get loaded by other gadgets or modules. --Fomafix (talk) 12:48, 17 November 2013 (UTC)

Wishes?

Heya folks :)

You're doing an amazing job. Thank you for that. I wanted to ask if there are things that the development team could do to make your work easier. I can't promise we'll be able to do it but I am willing to spent some resources if it makes a difference for you and fits in the overall picture. (I am talking specifically about admin-type tasks here.) --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 17:25, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

I would personally like to have a notification when RfD gets overloaded (say over 100 unhandled requests) and possibly for some other backlogs, but it is not essential and has low priority.--Ymblanter (talk) 11:19, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
Have you tried adding User:BeneBot*/RfD-stats to your watchlist? -- Lavallen (talk) 11:39, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
I have it, and I am on RfD every day, as it is easy to check. It is just more convenient to have a read square at the top of the page every time smth needs an attention. As I said, this has a low priority.--Ymblanter (talk) 11:50, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
@Ymblanter: Inspired by w:Template:FilemoverTalkpageNotice, I've created Template:RFDNoticeBox, which can be transcluded in one's userspace for a handy notification. Perhaps someone who is skilled with templates can make the number of RFDs required for the message to appear be a parameter instead of a fixed number. --Jakob (Scream about the things I've broken) 14:22, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

The biggest thing we need is a sane deletion interface (e.g. WD:RFD is not sane), which may not be something specifically scoped to Wikidata, but it's the place where the pain is most felt because we don't. If I had an admin-type paper cut (which this seems to be a question on paper cuts, though my comment doesn't seem to be oriented toward an easy thing to fix), that would be the one. Otherwise, thanks for bothering to think of us. :) --Izno (talk) 22:39, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
Do you have an idea about how it should look like? Or a list of things that make it especially painful? As I am not using this I might be missing important painpoints. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 11:17, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
Primarily, the biggest issue is that everything goes to WD:RFD, which causes edit conflicts, a page which is now too-large to move, much less delete, and requires bot maintenance, which doesn't always correctly work (e.g. I am required to add a line with {{Done}} and my signature to cause archival of the page). It would be neat if we could do something Page Curation-esque, where a user could change the state of any page (not simply new pages) to "nominated for deletion" (this idea has extensibility to other things on this wiki, I suspect), which would dump it into a tracking category or to a Special page with the page to be deleted and the submission reason (the second is neater, the first is the minimum). Alternatively, you might give us free-text fields while we control what goes into those via filters, but I see that as a poor choice of UI design (i.e. you'd be giving people the change to free-text while we would end up necessarily restricting what goes into the field). --Izno (talk) 23:40, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks! Does anyone of you have time to sit down with me in a hangout or similar to go through the page and discuss what is usually done? --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 15:24, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
Are redirects coming soon? I thought the plan was to redirect instead of deleting so Qids are more stable. If all merges resulted in a redirect instead of a deletion then the traffic on RFD would drop a lot. If any user could set a redirect (because it is easier to reverse than a deletion) then Admins would only have to deal with the few remaining items on the RFD page. Filceolaire (talk) 16:34, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
If that solves most of the issues I will try to speed up redirects. Daniel is working on them. The ticket for it is bugzilla:38962. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 16:42, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
@Lydia Pintscher (WMDE): Yes, this will solve a lot of issues. Please give it high priority. -- Bene* talk 21:38, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

@Izno, Lydia Pintscher (WMDE): I think we should have a JavaScript tool listing all items that have been emptied recently. Every admin could choose to filter only sitelink removals for some languages, then he should be able to see if the removed data have been added to another item, and which. 1-click deletions would be the cherry on top. Mergers take ~99% of the RFD page, so the latter would be used for other requests. --Ricordisamoa 14:05, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

Filter logging merging

Could an admin create a filter catching edits like [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]? If the filter can catch them, we will find more empty pages. Matěj Suchánek (talk) 11:54, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

Maybe we should just disable the option in the merge script to prevent the tool from reporting the merge at WD:RFD. Best regards, -- Bene* talk 15:01, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
But these edits were not done by the script. They were done by Wikibase using 'Edit links' (in Wikipedia). Matěj Suchánek (talk) 16:36, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
Ah, now I see... I will try to create one until we have entity redirects. --Bene* talk 16:44, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
Just thinking. Is it really the best to create a filter for that, or would a bot be the better solution? -- Bene* talk 18:15, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
@Bene*: Or a bot. But the bot could use the filter tags. Matěj Suchánek (talk) 15:28, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
My bot (source) uses the API equivalent of Special:ShortPages, and checks the items' history without need of any tags. --Ricordisamoa 20:20, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
Hmm, did not see this. I created the filter anyhow and created a tag for that. -- Bene* talk 21:36, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

When I try to edit Special:AbuseFilter/5 to block users who trip the filter, I get the message "You cannot edit this filter, because it contains one or more restricted actions. Please ask a user with permission to add restricted actions to make the change for you." Is this a user rights thing or some kind of bug? --Jakob (Scream about the things I've broken) 22:26, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

I have to confess that there are some gaps in my knowledge about how this whole MediaWiki internationalization works. Maybe someone can give me a pointer on where to read something about it - or maybe someone can tell me how to solve my specific problem now at least (or solve it directly). We have a page MediaWiki:Sp-contributions-footer-anon here, to add a footer with all those Whois, globalcontribs etc. links on an IP's contributions list. However, this footer is only displayed with my user language set to English (you may check: en, de). Now I could create MediaWiki:Sp-contributions-footer-anon/de (note that this page does not exist yet at the time of writing this, even though it's a blue link), translate those links and (hopefully) I would have this footer for my language. But then still most other languages wouldn't have those useful tools displayed. I thought MediaWiki:Sp-contributions-footer-anon (note it's not MediaWiki:Sp-contributions-footer-anon/en) would be a fallback for all languages. Can we get this somehow? --YMS (talk) 13:09, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

I did some random try but my project smashed into the includeonly> thing. So, I think we can use a series of template subpages + langswitch. --Vituzzu (talk) 14:47, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
The MediaWiki messages are at Special:AllMessages; you can select your language preferences there and change the relevant messages as you see fit, or I think you can also ask the MediaWiki/Wikimedia devs to change the default config files. TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 06:24, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

vandalism?

Hi, I found that 68.100.160.250 made a mess, if not vandalism, to many items. Please check his edit history. I don't know how to revert them since his edits were too many and complicated. Can anyone help? --Neo-Jay (talk) 14:48, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

I have to leave now, but after a quick look on the IP's edits, I don't think he/she's a vandal. It more looks like a quite helpless attempt to clean up several items at once which mixed up several things. It actually looks like the IP has created more chaos than it solved by this, but (as I said, from a quick look) I don't think it has been done with bad intentions. --YMS (talk) 14:54, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply. No matter whether it is called chaos or vandalism, is there any convenient method to revert this IP's edits? Or I have to remove the misplaced links one by one and then add the correct links, again, one by one? --Neo-Jay (talk) 20:00, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
You can use the undo or restore function (accessed in the page history and diffs). --Jakob (talk) 20:31, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
I had tried to "restore", but in vain. This IP exchanged a lot of links between different items. Thanks. I struck out four links. --Neo-Jay (talk) 10:45, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
Your edits aren't completely correct either, the way I see it. In the course of cleaning up here, I e.g. created Q15389434 with the only sitelink being de:Säkular, a disambiguation page. According to Wikidata:Disambiguation pages task force/guidelines, this item then only should have sitelinks with the lemma "Säkular", of which there only is the German one. You removed it and put it back to Q2287046, which mixes up several disambiguation pages with completely differently spelled translations of "secular". And then you re-use Q15389434, adding completely different sitelinks, starting with en:Layperson, which is not even a disambiguation page, so giving the item a totally new meaning. Even though we can safely assume that this item has never been used anywhere, an item should never change its meaning. And if there is a mismatching link to be removed of an item, labels and descriptions should be checked. Now Q15389434's labels and descriptions in 3 out of 4 languages still suggest it's a disambiguation page called "Säkular", while you made the links and the English label to describe a "person who is not an expert in a given field of knowledge" (and the still active IP incorrectly added the addition "( Noun - "amateur" )" to the label). --YMS (talk) 10:09, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
Sorry. Feel free to delete Q15389434 and create a new item to include en:Layperson et al.. If you think that de:Säkular should not been included in Q2287046, then feel free to revert Q15389434 to its original version. Thanks. By the way, 68.100.160.250 changed Q3220111 from its original fr:Laïcité en France to irrelevant fr:Laïcat et. al.. And now fr:Laïcité en France is homeless. --Neo-Jay (talk) 06:53, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
We need to fix this up, really. I was going to block the IP because it was ignoring me but they answered, although that did not solve anything really. I am tempted to semiprotect all these items until we fix this properly, and then hand out warnings if somebody messes up again. — ΛΧΣ21 15:07, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

@Neo-Jay, YMS: I have turned secularism in France (Q3220111) again into fr:Laïcité en France. I moved all Laity sitelinks to new item laity (Q15407657), and all Layperson sitelinks to new item layperson (Q15407654). I took the preventative measure of semiprotecting them for a week to make sure they are not corrupted. — ΛΧΣ21 15:16, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Proposal to change Abusefilter 10

I'm making a proposal here to the admins to change Special:AbuseFilter/10 so that it adds the function "Trigger these actions after giving the user a warning" to IP/new users. My reasoning is that so far, all edits I've monitored which were tracked and tagged by Abusefilter 10 are rarely constructive, are probably test edits, and may simply come from scripts and bots using IP addresses. Disallow on the first attempt to remove a link (the possibility of disallowing subsequent removal to be discussed at a later time) will mitigate vandalism and other nonconstructive edits. TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 17:38, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

AF warnings on Wikidata are less effective than elsewhere, since it just gives a help bubble with the warning in it. Still, a warning would be good for this filter because it gets so many hits, so I'll enable one. I'm not going to enable disallow with it, because there are still IPs that make constructive edits removing sitelinks. Ajraddatz (Talk) 18:22, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
Perhaps remove sitelink should be disallowed but there should be an option to move a sitelink. This should be possible even for ips and with a move feature we would also never loose sitelinks. -- Bene* talk 10:18, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
But what do you do if a sitelink has to be removed (for example, deleted article)?--Ymblanter (talk) 15:12, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
Deleted articles should be removed by the software. If you think about it, there is no case where a sitelink has to be removed. Either the items should be merged or the link should get moved. Things like deleting or page-moving must happen automatically. Bene* talk 16:39, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
Completely agree with Bene, though perhaps it would be good for admins to be able to remove them for certain circumstances that we can't predict. Page deletion or moving should result in automatic changes here. Ajraddatz (Talk) 17:16, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
Yes, of course admins and perhaps also logged in users should be able to do this but ips not. We could enable the move sitelinks gadget by default and disallow removes that are not performed by the gadget, but an api solution is much cleaner and also more stable. What about this idea: Enable the gadget until we have an api feature for this and disallow normal removal by ips? Bene* talk 20:27, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

These requests is not in Wikidata:Requests for comment, probably creaters forget to place them:

  1. Wikidata:Requests for comment/Wikimedia Commons OpenStreetMap cross-references
  2. Wikidata:Requests for comment/links to wikidata from a template at an arbitrary WMF project page

RfC pages are all created more than two months ago.
