All "People from" the federated states of the USA need Wikidatalinks in German. Sadly, they have their own now. I fixed Idaho, Maine, Massachusetts, Oregon and Washington. J 1982 (talk) 18:27, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

Q21 on the P17 report

According to the report, there are about 9181 items using this. The required change to do is:

P:P17=Q21 => P:P17=Q145 and P:P131=Q21

To avoid flooding the report, it currently doesn't list each of them, but it can easily be changed to detail them. --  Docu  at 12:57, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

Request: please complete phase 1 first

Please all complete phase 1 first, still thousands of interwikis are on the Wikipedias left still waiting to be transfered to Wikidata. And please understand, phase 2 can't fully be deployed on Wikidata unless all the interwiki troubles are solved. (Of course thanks for all the hard work, and thanks for the interwikibots to relocate them to Wikidata, but please, complete that first.) Also if there are interwiki conflicts or protected templates, creating lists for the local communities to solve the problems of local interwikis that should have been moved would help much. I speak in particular for the Dutch Wikipedia now, but while I was moving hundreds of interwikis the past days, I noticed many other projects facing the same issue: many interwikis still have to be moved. Thanks for helping! Romaine (talk) 21:30, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

My bot is running now on a high speed. But I prioritize namespace 0. If my bot tryied to add every article from every language I will do other namespaces on requestes too. Currently all Wikipedias with more then 250k articles (over 20 wikipedias) are scanned at least once. The smaller wikipedias should be run through faster. --Sk!d (talk) 23:13, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Now SamoaBot is creating dozens of items for unlinked articles in Categorie:Wikipedia:Beginnetje biologie, and importing some taxon data. See, for example, Acleris atomophora. --Ricordisamoa 19:18, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
Great job! What I meant was that there are local a lot of interwiki's which still need to be moved, I found more than 500 of them in the template namespace. Romaine (talk) 22:50, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Polish "Italian comune" descriptions

I would like a bot to change all Polish descriptions "włoskie wobec" to "włoska gmina". Thanks, --Chrumps (talk) 20:19, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

I would do it, but I would gain community consensus before filing a RFBOT. Could you please explain me the differences, and if it's really needed? --Ricordisamoa 22:44, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Yes, it is really necessary, because the current description is totally nonsensical. It means more or less "Italian against". --Chrumps (talk) 00:04, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

Checking for missing sex statements

I'm not sure if there is a bot doing this job already. A bot should check every person item linked by P:P7 and P:P9 for missing sex statements (P:P21) and add male if the item is a brother or female if the item is a sister of another item. This is just to make sure there won't be any loss of data if we decide to merge P7 and P9. —PοωερZtalk 14:58, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

At User:Byrial/Conflicting or missing sex you will the status as found in the database dump from 5 May. They is plenty of missing sex stattements, or also some contradictory values. Byrial (talk) 22:55, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Two Commons categories in the same element

there are some cases where items have the same value for commons category twice, causing problems on wikipedias. a bot could solve this by removing the second, redundant entry (and maybe adding the source to the first) --Akkakk 23:45, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Seems like this is could be done while fixing a problem mentioned above. FallingGravity (talk) 01:07, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
Agree, just removing the second entry is just stupid. That can only happen if both entries are the same. In a lot of cases I assume one of the two categories is the old name. Multichill (talk) 17:31, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
that's what i said --Akkakk 18:15, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

  •   Comment Needs a currency qualifier. —PοωερZtalk 16:56, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
  • This doesn't strike me as a good use of P31, since it only captures one property: net worth. Ideally, P31 should link an instance to a class that can describe several, or many properties of the subject -- this way we avoid using P31 as a catch-all for any statement that doesn't have a proper property. I think it'd be much better to create a property 'net worth' and have a bot fill that in. Emw (talk) 04:23, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
OK, forget this in favour of net worth. Danrok (talk) 18:02, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

P41 & P94 and sv:Template:Ortsfakta Sverige

I have made som reverts, and would like to see if any article on svwp who uses sv:Template:Ortsfakta Sverige have a P41 (flag) or P94 (coa). Localities should never have a coa or a flag, it's only administrative units who uses such things. -- Lavallen (block) 07:47, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Descriptions in different languages

When bots adds descriptions for items like "Wikipedia disambiguation page" or "album by Foo" as mentioned above, it would be nice if it could add as many descriptions as possible at once. So wouldn't it be a good idea to have a page which lists all the types of descriptions the various bots inserts where users can add translations for any language? Byrial (talk) 07:03, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Sounds like a good idea. Some subjects are trickier than other. I would not dare to give any suggestions to a Swedish version of "album by Foo" since it depends on if 'Foo' do classic or pop-music. Other subjects are much easier. -- Lavallen (block) 08:08, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

fixing labels for segments of large lists and TV series seasons

The bots that created items from existing Wikipedia articles have stripped the disambiguator to create the Wikidata label. For instance en:Breathe (Blu Cantrell song) was imported with the label "Breathe". This is a good idea 99% of the time but the bots all simply work by stripping the parenthetical content without checking if it's used for disambiguation. So for instance en:Breathe (Don't Stop) was also imported with the label "Breathe" despite the fact that the title of the song is "Breathe (Don't Stop)". That particular example is hard for bots to identify but others could be fixed. In particular, when the en.wiki article is of the form "List of Foo (Bar)" then the label should also be "List of Foo (Bar)" because "Bar" is an integral part of the definition of this list. For instance, there are currently 64 items with the label List of moths of Australia and 43 with the label List of Major League Baseball players. Another easy one to fix is articles of the form "Foo (season X)". They too should be imported as "Foo (season X)". Pichpich (talk) 18:33, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Aliases for counties in the USA

It would be useful to have county aliases that included the state. For example, I added Whitley County, Indiana and Whitley County, Kentucky. Those examples were actually ambiguous, but for consistency it would be helpful to also do the non-ambiguous ones. That way, either way you could just paste in "Name County, State". The English Wikipedia Manual of Style says to use this naming style ("Name County, State") as the title. So this can be implemented by copying the enwiki title to an alias. Superm401 - Talk 07:11, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Yes, this would be very useful. The same could be done for American cities and unincorporated communities. Pichpich (talk) 14:14, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Updating moved categories

On enwiki, Cydebot is currently breaking a lot of Wikidata items by moving the category and then deleting it. While the bot owner has been approached about updating his bot, I can find no evidence of action. The bot should probably scan the move log and update the Wikidata items respectively. Birth/death dates from it.wikipedia

Italian wikipedia has birth/death year and day categories (e.g. here). The dates could be set on Wikidata if a birth and/or death "set" exists. Ideally birth/death place as well. --Magnus Manske (talk) 22:11, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Moving "no" labels to "nb"

When making labels from interwiki links, many bots have made "no" labels from "no" links, but this is wrong, as the labels should be "nb", not "no". It would be nice if a bot could move all existing "no" labels to the "nb" label (except where the "nb" label already exists. The "no" label can be left empty. - Soulkeeper (talk) 11:52, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Need Help for making Merge Tool

Hi, I developed a code which can merge all items which are listed in one line text. for example if we have text like below it can merge all langLinks and descriptions and labels in one item.

I want to use it as online (live) tool. can any one help me in writing HTML and Python connection part? (python code is here)

it can be two text box the first one is for input lines the second one is for bot-log and one button for doing merge Yamaha5 (talk) 19:49, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

I'm working on a "merge.py" tool, too; I've already used it, for live mass-deletions and for items already emptied by Rezabot. It is still a bit unstable, but I'll publish the code soon.
Anyway, Ebraminio has stunned us with his Merge.js, which can even move statements with sources and qualifiers, and also delete/nominate items for deletion. Thus, and being Hazard-Bot 8 rejected withdrawn, I'd leave bots non-controversial mass-merges only, while humans should continue to handle single/controversial ones, which require attribution. --Ricordisamoa 23:58, 29 May 2013 (UTC) (edited)

Update: I've rewritten my script from scratch, and that's it. It can move sitelinks, labels, descriptions, aliases, claims and sources, send items to RFD or delete them directly (via a sysop account). It uses User:Soulkeeper/dups as the preferred source. --Ricordisamoa 04:07, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

PS: it is anyway meant for use by bots, for single merges we have Merge.js. --Ricordisamoa 04:14, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
