Using PetScan to add some statements to already existing objects/itemsEdit

Hello Vesihiisi,

as far as I see you are using Petscan to add some statements to already existing objects/items, e.g. this edit. I would like to do something similar (e.g. using Petscan to scan for the category for one "country of citizenship", e.g. Austria, in the german wikipedia and to add property "P27" (:Q40) if it does not yet exist for this item). So far, I only managed to create new items (with additional, initial properties), but not to add properties to existing items with Petscan. I also could not find an example in the documentation of Petscan nor the related "talk pages". Others seem to have the same difficulty, e.g. [1]. Could you please let me know how you do this? Thank you very much in advance! --M2k~dewiki (talk) 07:55, 16 August 2016 (UTC)

I had the same problem for the longest time, it doesn't seem to be documented anywhere! On the "Other sources" tab, select "Wikidata" in the "Use wiki" section. It's set to "Automatic" by default, but "Wikidata" will make the editing form appear. --Vesihiisi (talk) 08:04, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
Thank you very much! This helped a lot! I tried it with User:M2k~dewiki#Mitglieder der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften and it worked! Did you also find a way to remove items from the Petscan result which already have the property you want to add set (e.g. if the petscan result has a high number of entries, but for only a few of them the property you want to add might be missing)? I tried it with a SPARQL statement (...FILTER NOT EXISTS { ?item wdt:P463 wd:Q299015 }....), but this selects ALL items, not only those from the petscan result, therefore the query stops with an timeout error. --M2k~dewiki (talk) 12:27, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
This one's kinda tricky -- I do these sorts of queries like this (autorun). I.e. I put the value in the "Uses items/props : None" field on the Wikidata tab, but I don't actually use P463 anywhere in the query... It means that any items that link to Q414163 from any property will be excluded, not only those that pair it with P463. It just happens to work great in this particular case (importing members of organisations from a particular wiki), but I haven't really looked into SPARQL yet. --Vesihiisi (talk) 13:09, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
This is great, thank you very much again!!! --M2k~dewiki (talk) 13:44, 16 August 2016 (UTC)

--Vesihiisi (talk) 10:28, 14 October 2016 (UTC)

Dates on Q17426597 and Q18430160Edit

Hi Vesihiisi: somehow your bot added the same date to both articles (found here). However, I couldn't find that date in the linked WP article. Can you check if other items have the same problem.

Item to be deleteEdit

In RFD there are a lot of item proposed for the deletion created by you. If you do not agree you can participate in the debate --ValterVB (talk) 20:54, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

Family namesEdit

Hello! You created many family names in December which are not used on Wikidata. How did you make your list on what to create? Did you work with a dictionary, a list of people, something? Thank you for your answer. --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 11:01, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

To kolosalna różnica. Pozdrawiam, Michał Sobkowski (talk) 11:29, 8 May 2018 (UTC)

A, już wiem skąd to się wzięło. Niestety kategoria en:Category:Members of the Polish Academy of Sciences jest często źle wstawiona. Pozdrawiam, Michał Sobkowski (talk) 06:23, 9 May 2018 (UTC)

Examples of Wikidata projects with OpenRefineEdit

Hi! I saw on Twitter that you were asking for Wikidata projects made with OpenRefine. Because the new version has just come out, there are not that many yet, but here are a few pointers:

  • first, the tutorials document four hands-on examples with concrete data;
  • second, you can look at this list of edits made via OpenRefine to get an idea of what people actually do - you will find for example the EveryPolitician project which curates data in politics, or imports of French research laboratories (RNSR)

I hope this helps! If anything is unclear, I would be happy to know how I can improve the documentation. − Pintoch (talk) 10:07, 28 May 2018 (UTC)

Thank you! I've heard great things about OpenRefine, it's time to finally learn it... --Vesihiisi (talk) 10:12, 28 May 2018 (UTC)

Lexeme statsEdit

I see you are busy adding Swedish lexemes. How many are there now? Is there a page (with a ready-made query) that shows me how many lexemes there are in each language, perhaps also how many of each part of speech and how many forms they have? --LA2 (talk) 18:14, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

Ordia is a nice tool for some basic stats. As for parts of speech, it will be mostly nouns since I haven't created any other templates in the Lexeme Forms tool I'm using :) --Vesihiisi (talk) 18:19, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

długopis, jazgarzEdit

Hi! I noticed you created these two Polish lexemes. But you made basic mistakes in flexion and entered wrong forms. Fortunatelly I found these errors but in the future please be careful in entering forms in not your native language. KaMan (talk) 15:47, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

Thank you. --Vesihiisi (talk) 16:29, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

Sense addingEdit

Hey Vesihiisi, your Sense-adder is a blessing! But I could help much faster if your tool would open (preferably in the tool itself) a window showing the wiktionary-entry or even only sense. I would only have to copy-paste instead of making them up or researching all the time. Greetings, 17:49, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

Hello Alicia,

I used your tool Hauki too see the lexemes in Wikidata. I have add some German lexemes and I want to add more and for that it would be helpful to have a list of all lexemes in German. Do you think it is possible to add a function in your tool to get a List wiht all lexemes in a specific language as a download in regular formats, in the same formats as you can download the results of queries from query service. I am interested in computational linguistics and I think a list like that would be helpful when I want to generate automatically a text from data about a specific topic. -- Hogü-456 (talk) 18:37, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

IPA und GeschlechtEdit

Hallo Vesihiisi,

Hello, three years ago, you added a statement saying that Alphonse Pyramus de Candolle (Q123807) was a member of (P463) of Russian Academy of Sciences (Q83172). Could you add a source for this statement? Thanks in advance. Pamputt (talk) 13:29, 23 September 2019 (UTC)

New page for cataloguesEdit

Hi, I created a new page for collecting sites that could be added to Mix'n'match and I plan to expand it with the ones that already have scrapers by category. Feel free to expand, use for property creation. Best, --Adam Harangozó (talk) 11:24, 14 November 2019 (UTC)

Senses tool is brokenEdit

I always get: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there is an error in the application. Uziel302 (talk) 21:30, 1 December 2019 (UTC)

My bad, it only required login first, please replace the error message so it will be clearer. Uziel302 (talk) 17:09, 8 December 2019 (UTC)

Skapa nya objektEdit

--Spisen (talk) 18:51, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
