Vandalism to date of birth property

There have been a series of edits in languages other than English to date of birth (P569) which change the description to a specific date. I speculate the dates are the birthdays of the vandals. Since the edits come from a variety of different IP addresses, I suggest the page be protected so only be edited by autoconfirmed users. Jc3s5h (talk) 17:34, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

Csigabi's constant arbitrary actions

I am calling attention to Administrators' noticeboard that editor "Csigabi" always abuses of his editor's rights because he does constant arbitrary actions that he makes quasi for the benefit of Wikidata but in fact these actions are arbitary and they serve only his personal revenge. Csigabi's last action was to protect "Flóra Kádár" article until 15 March 2015 because of edit warring but this justification was only an arbitrary and unrealistic motivation. Csigabi is an completely inappropriate for his task, service as an administrator because he violates the most important norm, rule for the admins to be, to remain neutral and he always acts for his favourites, his friends and he always wants to punish his putative enemies. I would like to remind the administrators that there was a debate between Csigabi and me and he has accused me to do vandalism and it has become clear that his accusation was false. So he has had no right to protect the page named above, I've already justified that the dispute is personal between the administrator named above and me and Csigabi has just begun to pick a quarrel between us. I myself ask other administrators warn him to his rights and they who has viewed, monitored my former editings can have experienced that I am a good and useful editor and I am working for the benefit of Wikipedia and Wikidata and the administator who is not neutral, is completely inappropriate for his task, service as an administrator. @Matěj Suchánek:His incoherent words speak for themselves. He went into edit war with another editor, who, being aware that I am and administrator here asked advice. So I protected the article to prevent further edit warring, knowing all too well that he would not stop. Please have a look at this edit history where he, though did not reverted, simpy overwrote the same editor's good faith edit. He even reverts/overwrites the articles to the wrong version in order to have his presumed truth justified. These kind of his edits are definitely not good faith edits. If you look at his edit history on February 26 between 13:14 and 13:26 you can see it yourself that he simply reverted a great number of my edits, not because they were wrong but because they were not his. As a matter of fact, being a Hungarian native, I follow the edits of huwiki editors on Wikidata. I correct their mistakes, give them advice, request changes, etc. All of them listen to me and follow the advice I give. I tried to have a discussion with him on certain formal requirements of his edits so that they comply with the guidelines of Wikidata (e.g. begin descriptions with a lowercase letter except when uppercase would normally be required). Now please have a look at the history of Borgatya's talk page. In addition to the foul language he used you can see that he simply reverted my requests, I doubt if he had ever read them. For your information: this guy on huwiki, under a different user name, has been blocked about two dozen times for the exact same reason. TL;DR. This may be news to you, but not all of your edits are helpful. Some are a pain, which Csigabi has tried his best to point out to you. The more you complain about this here, the less I'm willing to believe you. In fact, it's really getting on my wick. If you are going to wage an edit war over something as petty as the case of a letter (where it has been pointed out to you that you're wrong), then it's not a surprise that the item gets protected. That doesn't help anyone else here either. So why are you whinging here this time? Because you are being "provoked" you write. As far as I can see, you are the provocateur. Out of nowhere I received today an email from this user @Borgatya. I've ever been involved in any related issue, I guess it's just because I'm an administrator here. Said user promises to send me copy of his doctoral degree in linguistics, says that "...I openly take myself, I have no secrets but I always hate if I am unfairly attacked, blamed and hurt..." followed by a copy of the very paragraph opening this thread.

I'll let other admins closer to the subject deal with this issue, but out of context it seems a bit harsh to protect a page after a single revert of a description from Actress from Hungary to Hungarian actress. Other edits to this page and other pages quoted seem to show that the user's contributions to Wikidata/Wikipedia are globally positive and are not limited to edit-warring, vandalism or personal attacks. History shows that it is often worthwhile to trust new editors who act in a "weird" way.

To Borgatya though I can only advise to assume good faith in other editors and do not throw accusations of conspiracies all around the place, it does not make you look good. You misunderstand the problem unfortunately. I DO edit well and useful, please pay attention to my ALL editings and it will be clear for you.

The essence of the problem is pure personal and not professional. If you understand this small difference, the problem can be solved by itself, if you remind Csigabi to keep his licence lawfully and not for his personal revenge. He is not God, so he cannot judge anybody. If he understands that he cannot do anything with impunity, the problem will disappear. @Borgatya, Hungarikusz Firkász, Csigabi, Pallerti: Firstly, you all need to stop edit warring, especially over trivial matters such as this. I have protected another item (Q2821656) that was getting edit warred over. Don't reinstate any reverted disputed action until consensus is reached, because continued reversion when you know you're at odds over these edits constitutes edit warring and is blockable. If this continues, blocks will be handed out, since it is affecting numerous items.

@Csigabi: You're not the best admin to handle this, please let neutral administrators handle things like page protection. Clearly Borgatya takes your actions as hounding and this can be at least partly alleviated if you instead post here explicitly requesting those page protections. Think about why he is removing your messages from his talk page.

@Borgatya: Personal attacks are not acceptable no matter whether the other side is right or wrong, and like edit warring, is a blockable offense. You need to be less confrontational with your disputes. True, Csigabi should stop using his administrative tools here, but at the same time, it is true that you have been edit warring and failing to assume good faith (and failing to assume they do). In particular, please stop removing others' messages from your talk page. It only serves to further aggravate the situation.

@Jasper Deng: and others: thank you all for your wise pieces of advise and correct assesment of the situation. Part of the problems I see lies in the language barriers. Unfortunately our native language is one that not everyone understands, and I am the only admin here speaking it. Borgatya clearly takes advantage of this situation, and while in English he pretends to be a very peaceful and friendly person, who is hurt in his feelings and who is an innocent victim of some actions, in Hungarian he uses a foul language, not refraining from threats in his edit summaries, knowing that nobody else would understand them. I don't really care about the swear words he uses as they speak for themselves and the person who says them, but I can assure you, he would not dare get this far on our wiki knowing well the consequences.

For those who may not know: Borgatya, under a different name on huwiki, has been blocked about two dozen times for the exact same behaviour he pursues here. (If you think it is necessary, I can reveal his other name with proof that he is the same person). Due to his unacceptable behaviour towards the community he was even taken to the Arbitration Comittee on huwiki; in its decision the Committee forbid him to carry on wiht edit warring, personal attacks, flooding the talk pages with his problems, etc.

Let me make it clear that professionally I consider him a useful editor. However he is not a team worker. He hardly accepts other opinions, in fact he finds them as personal attacks on his presumed truth, even though in some cases he is wrong. This is clearly shown by the fact that he tends to revert pages to the obviously wrong version just not to let the other party have his/her opinion prevail.

As Jasper Deng suggested I should not handle this, but what is your recommendation to deal with such situations? Would in not look foolish to run to WD:AN for every edit that should be corrected? I am honestly waiting for your comments and suggestions on this. Should I turn to you with minor edit questions? While I was writing this message I found that ValterVB had already made a note on Borgatya's talk page reminding him of the capitalization rule that I myself tried to point out for him to no avail. OK, I appreciate ValterVB & Caliburn's request about lowercase vs. capitals but other examples like actor from Hungary or Hungarian actor is purely matter of taste, because though I am not a native English-speaker (nor Csigabi) but on Commons these forms. actors from ...country are used. But I would like to emphasize, the conflict between us has not erupted from these little things, the reasons are deeper and Csigabi deliberately picked a quarrel with me. Finally I would like to ask you to help me that Csigabi might keep off my editings, I will use lowercase in descriptions in the future but if you view all the articles no one follows this rule and earlier Csigabi was not alert, watchful and interestingly he applies this rule only in my editings.Borgatya (talk) 17:45, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

The Wikidata:Trang Chính is the Main Page for all user with Vietnamese interface. Since this page only embed the core translation page, it doesn't need to be modified further. I'd like to say "report this at meta", but it seems they don't give much of a toss over there after nearly a fortnight without action. I can't delete the Wikipedia entries, only a steward can. There's not actually much more what could be done on Meta... "Javad Ramezani" is already blacklisted on Meta, so it's not possible to create pages using that title. But now he is using different alphabets, so it's hard to catch them by filter. --Stryn (talk) 18:34, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

It's not that we don't give a toss, it's that we can't act on most of the pages that are created. If the wiki has local admins, then we can only tag them for deletion and wait for local admins - something anyone can do. Either that, or we invoke the "crosswiki" clause that allows us to act on projects with active admins, and risk people being very upset at us... No way to win! Massive incorrect inserts of drama television series (Q1366112)

drama television series (Q1366112) is specifically a television genre, but GZWDer (flood) massively inserted it as instance of (P31) in several hundreds of elements. The mere insertion of it in that property should already be incorrect, as it should be inserted as genre (P136), if anywhere, but it also has been inserted in many elements that are not even television productions, like novels, manga, etc, and also on television productions that are not dramas at all (perhaps as a confusion with Japanese television drama (Q399811), which has nothing to do with drama television series (Q1366112), and which also would be incorrect in many items as noted above). This was done around a week ago, last February 16th, but I discovered it just now. The user (which I suppose is a bot, as it has been doing nearly 500 edits each 4 minutes) has not edited since then and the bot's controller's user page reads "Semi-Retired", that's why I came here in the first place. Seems like a honest mistake to me, I also found this happen on Wikidata:WikiProject Anime and Manga, people incorrectly use main subject (P921) for genre (P136), I've been busy fixing it, I suggest people to be more careful not to add something they are not familiar with.AldNon^Ucallinme? 02:44, 8 March 2015 (UTC)

@Ajraddatz: Thanks; I've resolved the source of the (my!) confusion; they use two sets of identifiers, for galleries (Art UK venue ID (P1602)) and collections (for which I have now created Art UK collection ID (P1751)). I've adjusted the documentation accordingly. Some venues have both types of identifier ( e.g. http://www.bbc.co.uk/arts/yourpaintings/galleries/locations/the-new-art-gallery-walsall-3681 + http://www.bbc.co.uk/arts/yourpaintings/galleries/collections/the-new-art-gallery-walsall-1474 ). I hope this is the right place for this.

The articles de:Koreana, es:Koreana, ko:코리아나, no:Koreana, sv:Koreana, and zh:高丽亚那 describe the Korean band Koreana, that sung the song "Hand in Hand" for the 1988 Olympics. However, they are linked with en:Koreana which is about a Filipino TV series named Koreana. Unblock RobotMichiel1972

I ask a moderator to unblock my bot. Discussion in the project chat and a short inventarisation of opinions on Wikidata_talk:Requests_for_permissions/Bot/RobotMichiel1972_2 show sufficient ground to finish the job (which was almost finished anyway, streets starting with V, W, X, Y, Z are yet to create). Note that I and others will actually use these items to populate the 'street' property on many Dutch items. I agree that for future large bot imports another approach should be followed to avoid such 'notability' problems again. Probably my data import was one of the first test cases. Protect Q6981132

Could someone protect Naughty Boy (Q6981132) and switch it to a decent version? About two hours ago, heavy vandalism from several sources started on that page. @Denny: I just protected the page a week and blocked all the offending accounts, ~~but there are too many IPs to block~~. All IP addresses used to vandalize here have also been blocked 24 hours each.
