  7. Lexeme:L19346 (delete | history | links | logs) (all on TAB)

These correspond to the items (Q3147025), (Q3553034), (Q3570499), (Q3206231), (Q2932176), (Q3011516) and (Q3273364). Roman numerals (Q38918) is not a language and items are more appropriate for language-independent concepts. Nikki (talk) 17:06, 16 November 2021 (UTC)

It's perfectly valid as content for lexeme namespace as this is information generally included in dictionary. In one way or the other, the information needs to be there. The language (code) to use is debatable: should we repeat them for every lexeme language or just include them once. We opted for the later, but eventually, some language might include them in further detail.
Are users interested in them or not? If not, they can currently easily deselect them. It's unclear how the above hinders the user from contributing.
It does happen that the content of lexeme overlaps with Wikidata's items (e.g. senses on lexemes are also available on items, but we still add them). This for historic and other reasons: items are structured differently. --- Jura 19:07, 18 November 2021 (UTC)

I have checked first ten of the list and:

--GZWDer (talk) 14:47, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

So it's duplicates (partially with redirects to the wrong item), disambiguations and topics without any reference or statement allowing to assess its notability or validity.
It's unclear if users could actually gain anything from these, especially if the conclusion is "should be merged with other item". --- Jura 10:14, 3 December 2021 (UTC)

  Not done there seems to be no progress on this since last year, and it sounds like there's cleanup (merging) that needs to be done first before the rest could potentially be deleted. I suggest that @GZWDer, Jura1: return items to RfD that could be deleted individually, and/or propose a bulk deletion request after cleanup. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 18:08, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

Deleted realier by me for not meeting notability criteria, restored by @Bovlb: judging the item does meet those criteria. In my opinion the identifiers to Facebook and Google news (yielding an empty page), together with some links to advertorials or tiny interviews - not independent - are not sufficient. In addition the subject has been an LTA target and items on the subject has been deleted several times before. --Lymantria (talk) 06:19, 10 December 2021 (UTC)

social media links are more or less irrelevant to assess notability. --- Jura 11:22, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
for notability a person must have independent articles which i already mention in the property and also some below. Aroojakhan (talk) 12:35, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
  Comment I restored this item because it had a colourable claim to passing the notability criteria and had the potential for further improvement. That is sufficient to immunize an item from summary deletion and hence is sufficient for an undeletion request in the absence of any RFD. I was unaware that there was any history of this person being targeted by an LTA, but this isn't actually a reason for deletion so is not relevant to this discussion. This person does not appear to have been the subject of any past RFD. Bovlb (talk) 16:12, 10 December 2021 (UTC)
It is hard to search for them, but on Sheikh Asif items Q104438514 and Q104858389 have been subject of an RFD. Lymantria (talk) 18:21, 10 December 2021 (UTC)
Good find. (I searched the RFD archive and these did not come up.) Neither had significant sources. Q104438514 had four identifiers not on the current version; I added three of them, but not the now-suspended Twitter account. Bovlb (talk) 19:00, 10 December 2021 (UTC)
If it's being added and re-added by users despite explicit prohibitions, this is very well a reason for deletion. Otherwise, we could just make site policy optional. --- Jura 12:46, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
@Jura1 I agree the property has been deleted in January when there was no source avail for the person but now i have added references also so i hope you will change your comment. Aroojakhan (talk) 13:05, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

No notability recognizable Gymnicus (talk) 16:17, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

Another small note: Before anyone here wants to justify the relevance with the Creator template in Wikimedia Commons, this template was also proposed for deletion (Commons:Deletion requests/Creator:Esculapio) and was only kept because a Wikidata item was then created. So the Wikidata object is responsible for the Creator template still existing. --Gymnicus (talk) 16:23, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

No notability recognizable Gymnicus (talk) 16:26, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

This one is needed for the automated table here to work: meta:Wikimedian_in_residence#History_and_case_studies. T.Shafee(evo&evo) (talk) 22:40, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
I see it differently and the page you linked does too. There is the following sentence in front of the table you mentioned: “Below is a table of current and previous Wikimedians in residence according to their Wikidata entries. Wikimedians without are not included.” – The second sentence is particularly important. The list does not claim to be complete. Instead, only those Wikimedians in Residence who have received a Wikidata item through their notability are displayed in the list. The data object proposed here for deletion does not meet the notability criteria. --Gymnicus (talk) 10:53, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
The table used to be manually maintained and frequently out of date and switching over the using wikidata has reduced workload by 95%, so I think it satisfies a structural need. Making a partial list would be pretty unhelpful, since then a separate manual table would still need to be maintained. The alternative would be to create an item 'Wikimedians in residence' and list each as 'has part'. T.Shafee(evo&evo) (talk) 04:38, 23 February 2022 (UTC)

  Not done seems to be notable. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 18:54, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

Youtube videos that seems not to be notable since they are without any external identifiers that could be grounds for notability, no references and no incoming links. Ping Lectrician1 who created these items. --Ainali (talk) 22:38, 17 February 2022 (UTC)

I remain confused why these need to exist separate from the videos items themselves. BrokenSegue (talk) 22:42, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
To track viewership over time. I would like to use such data in Wikipedia articles where it is mentioned like Butter (song)#Music video and List of most-viewed YouTube videos. Lectrician1 (talk) 23:42, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
Viewership over time is better tracked in Wikimedia Commons. Wikidata is a poor place for tabular data. Ainali (talk) 08:19, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
That's not an excuse not to have it. Wikidata being an unstructured database has significant benefits over tabular data when it comes to editing and querying. It's much easier to add data than it is a table that expects values and say querying for "the views of all YouTube videos that have less than 2000 likes by person x who has occupation y" is much easier with SPARQL. Also, just having all the data in one place is really nice. We can't have YouTube video items and their ontological properties easily link to tables if we store all the data on Commons. Lectrician1 (talk) 20:02, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
Well, "To track viewership over time." does not create notability. There are plenty of things Wikidata could do if we cram in specific kinds of data into it. But this is not a discussion about usefulness, but about notability, and those two are decoupled, however great one of them is. Ainali (talk) 11:29, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
I still don't get why this data can't be on the videos' items. A separate item isn't needed. BrokenSegue (talk) 20:27, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
How else are you supposed to logically store multiple values of number of viewers/listeners (P5436) at different point in time (P585)? Lectrician1 (talk) 11:33, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
@Ainali: I agree with Lectrician1 on this: "We can't have YouTube video items and their ontological properties easily link to tables if we store all the data on Commons.". This is just one advantage that would bring creating items for YouTube videos. I've described some other advantages in this request for comment: Creating items for videos at online video platforms that are representation of notable items. I'd appreciate you could share your thoughts there too.
As for using Commons for storing tabular data: I think doing this might be helpful for some scenarios (e.g. a governmental institution provides multiple CSV dataset of the population in a given country) but I don't think doing this should be enforced on all users that want to contribute to Wikidata. Finally, note that there are properties that are also used for storing tabular data and that are widely used in Wikidata items. See population (P1082), number of cases (P1603) and number of recoveries (P8010). -- Rdrg109 (talk) 00:35, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
@BrokenSegue: Creating Wikidata items for YouTube videos could provide major advantages to the community. One of them being the one mentioned by @Lectrician1: storing multiple values of number of viewers/listeners (P5436) in an organized way. I've described this advantage and some other advantages in this request for comments: Creating items for videos at online video platforms that are representation of notable items. I'd appreciate you could take a look at it and share your thoughts there too. -- Rdrg109 (talk) 00:14, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
YouTube videos meet the notability requirement of "a clearly identifiable conceptual or material entity". They are cited and have dedicated sections in numerous Wikipedia articles. Examples of prominent YouTube videos could be things like the famous "YouTube Rewinds" or even articles dedicated YouTube videos themselves. Lectrician1 (talk) 23:35, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
I have added a reference to Q110911269 Lectrician1 (talk) 23:48, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
Extending this request to all these items below. This is a query for all YouTube video (Q63412991) without a single reference and no incoming links (as I am writing this, it has 22 results):
SELECT ?item ?label WHERE {
  ?item wdt:P31 wd:Q63412991.
  MINUS {?incoming ?prop ?item .}
  MINUS {?item ?propref [ prov:wasDerivedFrom [ ?ref ?reference ] ] }
  SERVICE wikibase:label {
    bd:serviceParam wikibase:language "en" .
    ?item rdfs:label ?label
  }
}
Try it!
However, it looks like some that do have references only have retrieved (P813) (like I don't want everybody to vote (Q98749513)) or a reference to youtube itself (like The Cellist of Sarajevo (Q94607867)) and then the major bulk of all items that are an instance of WD:Q63412991 is a batch import of 743 videos where the only reference only seem to support that the YouTube channel are making videos like the item rather than supporting they made that specific item. So while the statement is true, the reference does not support it and is kind of false. Left should be only a handful of items, that do have a proper source.   Keep These videos are representations of notable items and having dedicated items for YouTube videos (in general, videos at online video platform) could bring major benefits to the community. For discussion on this, please refer to this Request for comment: Creating items for videos at online video platforms that are representation of notable items.
What need to be improved in the items, though, are the references in the statements. I've already added some references to some of them (mainly in number of viewers/listeners (P5436) by using retrieved (P813), archive date (P2960) and archive URL (P1065))). -- Rdrg109 (talk) 00:54, 22 February 2022 (UTC)

  Done @Lectrician1, Ainali, BrokenSegue, Rdrg109: I've deleted these items since there is no indication that they are notable, both in the items themselves and in this discussion, and the data doesn't seem to be used anywhere. You need to get more support at the RfC for it to pass - and if that happens then I'd be open to undeleting these items. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 19:04, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

Fails notability Sjö (talk) 09:38, 19 February 2022 (UTC)

She is a senior perfumer at the largest privately owned fragrance company and has designed many perfumes for several brands. In my opinion she “can be described using serious and publicly available references”. -- Meisam (talk) 09:58, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
It is a judgement call, but in my opinion LinkedIn and the sparse information on the employer's web site is not enough. Are there any more sources? Perhaps sources reviewing her perfumes and at least mentioning her name? Sjö (talk) 10:37, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
@Sjö: She has formulated perfumes for Abercrombie & Fitch, Allsaints, Avon, Harajuku Lovers, Jennifer Lopez, etc. so there are reviews, interviews, and news articles around. Here’s a few: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] -- Meisam (talk) 15:11, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
