Create 120 items with one statement

edit

I need to create 230 items for the 230 space groups that are used in mathematics/crystallography/chemistry... I created 110 of them by hand (Wikidata:Mineralogy_task_force/Crystallography), but it would be helpful if a bot could create the others:

  • space group 111
  • space group 112
  • space group 113
  • ...
  • ...
  • space group 230

All of the items need the statement "instance of (P31) = space group (Q899033)". I can fill out the other statements by hand again. Thanks! --Tobias1984 (talk) 11:03, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Should the items have labels in other languages then en, too? And specific descriptions? It would be easier to set all those values at once. -- Bene* talk 17:34, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I will ask the translators to translate space group (Q899033) and triclinic-pedial (Q13364996) so we get most languages on the first run. Maybe give them like a week time. We can't translate the description of the label because that changes for every space group. --Tobias1984 (talk) 08:50, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Wait Another problem came up with the included statements. I'll write something here once it is sorted out with mineralogy and chemistry task forces. --Tobias1984 (talk) 10:02, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think everything is ready for this. The only thing that is common to all items is "instance of (P31) = space group (Q899033)". --Tobias1984 (talk) 14:37, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Remove P107=novalue claim

edit

There are 547 P107=novalue claims, I have removed ~30. Can someone remove all?--GZWDer (talk) 14:00, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I'd say so. Like P107 'term' claims, P107 'no value' claims contain virtually no information, so deleting all of them as part of the migration away from P107 seems reasonable. Emw (talk) 14:14, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

We can look at the following objects: http://208.80.153.172/wdq/?q=claim[31:%28CLAIM[31:28640]%29]_AND_claim[31:5,31:215627,107:215627] . The remaining 130 objects are either also a person, a group of person, a profession or something else. I guess that one has to look trough them manually:

South African towns and municipalities

edit

There are many statements that could be imported from en:Template:Infobox South African municipality and en:Template:Infobox South African town 2011.

Municipalities

edit

en:Template:Infobox South African municipality is used on 280 articles. The only parameter to be written in the wikicode of each article is 'muni_code', the municipality code for which a property proposal was opened here. The rest are fetched from metadata templates by using parser functions.

located in the administrative territorial entity (P131) and contains the administrative territorial entity (P150)   Done see it at User:ValterVB/sandbox/3#Q258_-_South_Africa --ValterVB (talk) 19:07, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you ValterVB! I made some changes to the infobox, so that now:
locator map image (P242): is the image_map parameter of the template;   Done --ValterVB (talk) 17:12, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
capital (P36): is the seat parameter of the template;
head of government (P6): is the mayor parameter of the template;
contains the administrative territorial entity (P150): is the p1, p2, p3 etc (up to p10) parameters of the template.
coordinate location (P625): latd, latm, lats, longd, longm, longs (all E and S) in the infobox.
South African municipality code (P911): muni_code in the template.   Done --ValterVB (talk) 17:23, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I hope these changes will make it easier to import statements to Wikidata.--Underlying lk (talk) 14:31, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Towns

edit

en:Template:Infobox South African town 2011 is used on 1415 articles. Similarly to the 'muni_code' for municipalities, the town infobox uses a 'censuscode' parameter, for which a property is not yet available on Wikidata.

I'll do some tests tomorrow. --ValterVB (talk) 18:48, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

P625 and Swedish localities

edit

Many Swedish localities are still missing P625. They can be imported from sv:Mall:Ortsfakta Sverige, parameters: lat_g, lat_m, lat_s, lat_NS, long_g, long_m, long_s, long_EW

-- Lavallen (talk) 08:19, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have some stats on coordinates in Swedish Wikipedia and how many are already in Wikidata. for Sweden, all countries It seems a vast majority of articles about places in Sweden do not have a Wikidata item yet. It seems to me that bots may have somehow missed importing site links from Swedish Wikipedia or at least skipped a lot of them. Do my stats make sense? Do you have any idea why? Is there a specific reason? or just no bot got around these yet? Aude (talk) 07:53, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Concerning your stats, would it be possible to pick up a couple of items and manually check whether they have Wikidata entries whereas the stats show they do not?--Ymblanter (talk) 08:03, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I cannot confirm that we have as bad numbers as only a few %. But I have mainly edited in pages about entities who have some kind of official recognition (i.e. exists in modern statistical records). Can it be that your statistics follow the use of P131 and how the region-parameter in the Coord-template is used? I have noticed that Skåne and Gotland (who has the best record in your statistics) often has wrong use of P131 in their items. (An import from nlwp I think.) Villages and urban areas should use municipalites in P131, not counties. -- Lavallen (talk) 08:43, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You can click through to each region for a list of items. (e.g. [1]). All the coordinates here are classified into country / region using natural earth data. (when actually importing, I also get/check country and region from the Wikipedia article itself, for accuracy) Then I simply check if there is a site link for the Wikipedia page. If the page is connected to Wikidata, there should be a "data item" link in the Wikipedia toolbox in the sidebar. Aude (talk) 09:47, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I see what you mean now. It's articles about Swedish lakes. They are made by bot, and the project is still running as far as I know. -- Lavallen (talk) 10:06, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, the first title I checked (the third in the table) did not have the Wikidata entry (I created it). I am not sure how it happened, I though all Wikipedia articles with a possibly exception of recent creations should have a Wikidata entry.--Ymblanter (talk) 10:13, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I guess none of the active item-creating bots here have svwp as a homewiki. Svwp has no botowner here at all I'm afraid, but myself, and my bot only edits in project-namespace. -- Lavallen (talk) 10:27, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I looked at some more articles and indeed many are about lakes. Many were created recently, so that might be why bots missed them. Assuming there are no issues with having Wikidata items for these, my bot can create the items (as a requirement and part of its task of adding coordinates) and can add other coordinates for Swedish localities. Aude (talk) 13:04, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Some of these articles have their coordinates at the center-point of the lake, others have the coordinates at the point where the water flow out of the lake. The botowner have two sources for the coordinates, and a source for the center-point could not be found for the smaller lakes. -- Lavallen (talk) 15:10, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Description for portuguese Wikipedia category items

edit

Hello. I request that items about portuguese Wikipedia categories receive the description, both in PT-PT and PT-BR, "categoria da Wikipédia". Apparently it was done to spanish and english Wikipedia category items, but not to portuguese.--MisterSanderson (talk) 21:06, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am waiting approval for this task. So I can do it. And, if you want, also for Disambiguation page (see request for approval) --ValterVB (talk) 21:21, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Both requests you linked are for adding P31 in the items. That's not the same as I said. What I requested is adding description to the items.--MisterSanderson (talk) 21:34, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Note description should be "categoria da Wikimedia" because category can also be linked on commons, wikivoyage. But why such general description, the multilanguage claim with P31 is preferred in my opinion. Michiel1972
So the spanish description should be altered from "Wikipedia" to "Wikimedia" too?--MisterSanderson (talk) 21:42, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I know, but when I add property I can add description --ValterVB (talk) 21:58, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks.--MisterSanderson (talk) 22:13, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Check my bot edit if it's ok --ValterVB (talk) 20:33, 4 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I saw that you editted Q8349617 adding pt and pt-br descriptions, and that's OK.--MisterSanderson (talk) 21:34, 4 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I would suggest using the text "categoria de um projeto da Wikimedia" instead of "categoria da Wikimedia", similar to what is used in Italian. Helder 22:20, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
OK too. But the first character need to be lower case.--MisterSanderson (talk) 22:25, 4 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. Fixed above. Helder 22:50, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

There are many unconnected pages at Vietnamese Wikivoyage and Minangkabau Wikipedia. Vietnamese Wikivoyage has only recently been created and so needs help integrating into the Wikidata system. Minangkabau Wikipedia has had a sudden burst of pages due to bot activity. Task info:

  • Vietnamese Wikipedia has many pages that already have an English link in them, and so they just need to be added to the same item. There are about 1000 instances. Articles without interwiki links and conflicts should be left to be done manually.
  • (More difficult) Minangkabau Wikipedia has lots of new astronomy and species articles. They do not have lang links in them but often there is an item on Wikidata that can be found for them. This item usually has an Arabian language link for astronomy, or Dutch for species. For example: Astonomy Q8176939 and Q8177462, Species Q13494808 and Q14636281.

Hopefully a bot can be created and put to work relatively easily on the first task. Not sure about the second. Cheers in advance. Delsion23 (talk) 22:34, 18 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should ping Emaus to do that.--GZWDer (talk) 14:52, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Update: The Vietnamese Wikivoyage links have been imported. The Minangkabau species have been imported. All that is left is the Minangkabau astronomy articles. Delsion23 (talk) 20:57, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • I already matched the Mingakabu asteroid articles with arabic and vietnames and added links where it is necessary. Do you have any ideas, what can be matched yet? --Emaus (talk) 23:59, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Import cinema people from French WP

edit

Could a bot import person data from model fr:Template:Infobox Cinéma (personnalité):

date of birth (P569) maps to "date de naissance"
date of death (P570) maps to "date de décès"
place of birth (P19) maps to "lieu de naissance"
place of death (P20) maps to "lieu de décès"
country of citizenship (P27) maps to "nationalité"
pseudonym (P742) maps to "surnom"

Around 16000 pages use it. Thanks - LaddΩ chat ;) 01:02, 12 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinates from Russian wikipedia

edit

I notice quite a bit of coordinates with wrong sign imported from Russian wikipedia. Q2095479 is 'E' though it must be 'W', Q926322 same, Q1720584 same and more. The values are apparently actually wrong in ruwiki, but other wikis have correct ones. Can a global recheck be made? Like maybe trusting wikipedias differently based on the country field for the article (enwiki is likely to be more correct about things in UK and US, frwiki for France, etc.) AntonBryl (talk) 11:40, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just to note that in the English Wikipedia, I work a lot with Russian localities. I first tried to use coordinates taken from the Russian Wikipedia, but then discovered that the percentage of errors is far too high to be acceptable.--Ymblanter (talk) 14:01, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe the bot should generally prefer coordinates from enwiki to coordinates from ruwiki where enwiki is available? It would be an easy solution to many of the problems now in the data. AntonBryl (talk) 15:22, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
To continue: in Q915413 latitude and longitude swiched places. Same source. 84.75.198.66 16:38, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Migrate P107 person claims

edit

Per the conclusions of the Migrating away from GND main type RFC, I'd like to request that P107 claims that have the value person (Q215627) where the subject is an actual person be replaced by P31 claims that have the value human (Q5). These proposals were noted in Project chat at Bot requests for conclusions of 'Migrating away from GND main type' RFC.

The goal is to detect P107 'person' claims that represent real humans and do the migrate them to P31 'human' claims in tranches. The specific proposals are outlined in subsections below to help organize discussion. For each of these, the P31 'human' claim should be added and the P107 'person' claim should be removed. P31 'human' claims should be added even if there are additional P31 claims other than 'human' on the subject.

As the bot requests below are completed, it should be possible to get an idea of how successful each is by examining the number of P107 'person' claims reported by Magnus Manske's WikiDataQuery tool: http://208.80.153.172/wdq/?q=claim[107:215627]. Emw (talk) 23:16, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Subjects in Category:Living_people

edit

Subjects in Category:Living_people seem to all be valid P31 'human' candidates. Please iterate through the Wikidata items for the articles listed there and convert P107 'person' claims to P31 'human'. Emw (talk) 23:16, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Subjects in Category:Dead_people

edit

Migrating P107 'person' claims for dead people is a bit trickier since Category:Dead_people is a container category, but thankfully like Category:Living_people it also seems to be used only for actual humans. It should be possible to get a list of dead people by recursively descending into Category:Deaths by year and combining persons in leaf nodes there to persons in Category:Date of death missing and Category:Date of death unknown. Emw (talk) 23:16, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Set sex:male for item list

edit

I have created a list of 136,033 items that

  • are DNB:person
  • have no "sex" property assigned
  • have a label, in at least one language, that starts with one of these male given names (the top 100 or so for items that are people but have no sex property):
    • John, José, William, David, Charles, Juan, Robert, Antonio, George, James, Paul, Carlos, Giovanni, Michael, Thomas, Giuseppe, Richard, Pierre, Joseph, Peter, Daniel, Francisco, Manuel, Francesco, Mario, Louis, Henry, Pedro, Roberto, Mark, Frank, Jacques, Edward, Luigi, Alberto, Jan, Carlo, Jorge, Miguel, Fernando, Albert, Arthur, Marco, Tom, Walter, Chris, Steve, Jack, Jim, Bill, Joe, Henri, Bob, Pietro, Paolo, Andrew, Sergio, Martin, Harry, Eduardo, Tony, Patrick, Rafael, Bruno, Diego, Samuel, Brian, Christian, Bernard, Georges, Kevin, Philippe, Stephen, Ricardo, Alessandro, Ivan, Eric, Alfred, Alan, Adam, Alexander, Fred, Enrique, Anthony, Marc, Roger, Gabriel, Angelo, Franco, Jonathan, Victor, Giorgio, Alfredo, Gary, Pablo, Jimmy, Billy, Dave, Julio, Stefano, Scott, Ian, Federico, Ben, Simon, Enrico, Christopher, Vincenzo, Javier, Nicolas, Dan, Claudio, Andy, Matt, Alejandro, Emilio, Frederick, Carl, Raymond, Ken, Ernest, Michele, Benjamin, Domenico

The list is here, one item per line. These should all get a "sex:male" property. --Magnus Manske (talk) 13:06, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to run it soon; I've updated it to preferably import sex or gender (P21) from itwiki (example). github.com/ricordisamoa/wiki/wikidata/male.py is the source code. --Ricordisamoa 22:18, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
running; please check User:SamoaBot/sex doubts and User:SamoaBot/sex conflicts for logs. --Ricordisamoa 22:51, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
for example, importing "Marie-Azélie Guérin Martin (Q2180087) <sex or gender (P21)> female (Q6581072)" prevented the code from adding "Marie-Azélie Guérin Martin (Q2180087) <sex or gender (P21)> male (Q6581097)". --Ricordisamoa 23:05, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Made another one here. ~93K items, both male and female, with the used name stated for each. First names come from U.S. census lists (AFAIK):

Could we just run this, or should I file a new BRFA? Also, please could You update male.txt? It seems most of them are done. --Ricordisamoa 15:10, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe we should ask User:Byrial and User:Zolo to have a look at the name lists, they were helpful before; otherwise, I'd think it's good to go. I don't think I'll update male.txt, though; consider the new list a permanent replacement, I even wrote some actual code for it so I can run it again easily! --Magnus Manske (talk) 15:49, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In French, Anne is a unisex name. You should remove it from the list of female ones. Ayack (talk) 16:54, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And in Dutch "José" is nearly always female. —Ruud 15:45, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
File updated (force-reload to clear cache). José wasn't in the file anyway. --Magnus Manske (talk) 18:14, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Related issue: Lots of items with an Italian label like "Morti nel 1830" are tagged as GND type "person", which is wrong IMO - should be "term" and "list of:person". Consider it a sub-request :-) --Magnus Manske (talk) 18:19, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Some tests with the new list; but please take a look at Wikidata:Property proposal/References#based on heuristic (en) before approving. --Ricordisamoa 04:26, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

PS: that's my enhanced script. --Ricordisamoa 04:46, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

{{Section resolved|1=--  Docu  at 04:28, 27 August 2013 (UTC)}}[reply]

@Docu: no, I've not run the task yet. --Ricordisamoa 19:46, 28 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. Personally, I think this is a bad idea. Because the error rate is too high, because many of these names can be assigned multiple sexes see Markus Kroetzschs research. And the real point is, - it's not worth getting wrong. Sex is a very sensitive subject on all Wikipedias. We have a gender gap of both editors, and in our content. Making any incorrect "guesses" at someones sex would show us insensitive about our sex data. So I think this is a not-great algorithm to run on a delicate property, which is not worth doing in my opinion. Maximilianklein (talk) 19:35, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Import labels from Alemannic Wikipedia (als.)

edit

Hello, there is a Template in als-Wikipedia called "{{Titel}}", it is used to make the header of the articles language-specific. For example the article about Germany w:als:Deutschland has the parameter "Dytschland" (language specific) but the name of the article is the standard German "Deutschland". A Bot could import all the parameters to the corresponding labels in Wikidata (here Q183).--Bigbossfarin (talk) 21:55, 17 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Put empty items to RFD or delete them

edit

Many empty item is created by new users, such as Q15081015, Q15081033, etc. Can we auto put empty items that is not used to RFD after 24 hours? or just delete them?--GZWDer (talk) 09:38, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think we need a continuously running bot deleting all items which have no site links and are not referenced by another item. The merge gadget often leaves these around if deletion is not requested manually.  — Felix Reimann (talk) 11:36, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've manually went through the new pages (hiding patrolled edits and bots) in last one month. And there is often (about every 20th item) items without sitelinks/without use. Also sometimes I see new pages containing files. Maybe we should make a filter to not allow to add files. --Stryn (talk) 11:50, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And Making Rfd by merge tool often make a editconfilt... The item is not in Rfd...--GZWDer (talk) 14:50, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The editconflict problem should be solved now. I have added a "section=new" param in the script so it will not give an editconflict any more. We could use Special:ShortPages and Special:WithoutInterwiki to find empty pages. Perhaps I could write some piece of code for that task. -- Bene* talk 15:58, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I have written something that produces this output: User:BeneBot*/emptyItemsToDelete. I think it looks quite well. -- Bene* talk 18:47, 21 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
strategic game (Q15079592) in your list points to two items. :( --Succu (talk) 19:14, 21 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Note the comment besides the item (has backlinks!) ;-) -- Bene* talk 22:10, 21 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

airport codes from ms.wikipedia

edit

quite a lot of airports have an article in ms.wikipedia, and ICAO airport code (P239) can be retrieved from ms:Templat:Infobox Airport, see for instance here. IATA airport code (P238) can also be added in some cases. Coordinates are also provided, but in a rather unusual format, and they seem to have be copy-pasted from an external source so that it may be better practice to import them directly from the source (which should be doable thanks to the IACO code. {{P[31}}: aerodrome (Q62447) when no P31 is provided yet (it seems better than "airport" because it is more general, and many items seem to be about minor facilities). --Zolo (talk) 15:50, 21 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jobs & Professions : importing ROME, ISCO, SOC & NOC codes from official nomenclatures and frwiki to matching Wikidata entries

edit

Occupations and professions task force now has 4 properties for profession (Q28640) (a subclass of occupation (Q13516667)):

  • International Standard Classification of Occupations (en) / Clasificación Internacional Uniforme de Ocupaciones (CIUO) (es) / Classification internationale type des professions (CITP) (fr)
  • Standard International Classification code for jobs. "ISCO is a tool for organizing jobs into a clearly defined set of groups according to the tasks and duties undertaken in the job."
  • Matching has to be done by comparing XLS Structure of those codes with labels: http://www.ilo.org/public/english/bureau/stat/isco/index.htm
  • Value for librarian (Q182436) is: 2622 Librarians and related information professionals

Here's the list of SOC codes for matching with the existing items.

NOC Occupation Code (P918) (NOC for English Canada, CNP for Québec)

edit

The task is to insert values into those properties for all professions using the official nomenclatures that are listed at our Wikidata talk:Occupations and professions task force

Then, importing from frwiki values for those properties contained in pages using the Template:Infobox occupation (Q6471307) template.

All of this work would be the first major steps into semantizing jobs and occupations, and would enable to do many sorts of crazy things on the various wikipedias (statistics about number of professionals, trends…)

Pair: work <-> author

edit

Wikidata contains a lot of works that are linked to an author (books) or creator (paintings). The pair notable work (P800) can be added by a bot. --Miredcessy (talk) 18:59, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Script for importing geocoords

edit

Is there anybody, who

  • have (ideally python) script for importing geocoords?
    • These coords are in format lon=12.3456 and lat=46.789012345
  • can give its source to me - I want to import coords from cs.wiki and sk.wiki?

Turn all gods from persons to deities

edit

Since we need to get rid of P107 (P107), I would like to replace it with the relevant claim "instance of (P31) deity (Q178885)" for all god-like entities, most of whom are currently listed as person (Q215627). Suggested strategy would be to drill down the whole tree of deities in Wikipedia categories, extract each individual deity's page, delete their obsolete P107 (P107) person (Q215627) and add claim instance of (P31) deity (Q178885).

Bonus points if we can assign relevant properties topic's main category (P910) and category's main topic (P301) while walking the tree of gods… We could also delete redundant Commons category (P373) now that Commons sitelinks are in place. — JFG talk 03:16, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Commons category (P373) should not be removed as long as there is no conclusion in Wikidata:Requests for comment/Commons links. --тнояsтеn 07:33, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Understood, thanks. — JFG talk 19:14, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Don't replace GND main type (it is needed by the authority data specialists), but add another entity. Why do people hate GND main type P107 so much? No one told them to use it in millions of entries in the first place. It is needed for a special purpose, and it doesn't harm anyone who doesn't want to use it. It's not called "Wikidata main type" but "GND main type"! (and if people like JFG refuse to recognize that it doesn't matter at all). --FA2010 (talk) 16:49, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have no particular hate or love towards P107 (P107), I am just looking for practical ways to implement the decision reached in the relevant RfC. I was not even a party to that process. There was apparently considerable debate since August and I understand that the conclusion can't please everybody. Perhaps you could lodge your special purpose arguments with the RfC participants… Back on topic: who can build such a robot for me or point me to similar bots who have already implemented category-tree drilldown for other purposes? — JFG talk 19:14, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The English article gives several definitions of deity (Q178885). So, I wouldn't say it's a simple task. Phil. III, 19 talks about the abdomen (Q9597) as a diety. -- Lavallen (talk) 19:58, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Add descriptions

edit

In this days I'm working on item of Category. Someone ask to me to add descriptions also for other languages. So if user add in this table correct description and also if is necessary replace if already exist description, I can do it. I can use descriptions in MediaWiki:Gadget-autoEdit.js, but not all are correct (Wikipedia/Wikimedia) and there aren't indication about replace or not. --ValterVB (talk) 19:50, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't it just be the same text as in Wikimedia category (Q4167836), Wikimedia disambiguation page (Q4167410) and Wikimedia template (Q11266439)? --тнояsтеn 20:46, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I guess it would ideally be the same, but by default the label of Wikimedia category (Q4167836) is equal to the sitelink, and in many languages we still have things like "Wikipedia:Disambiguation" instead of the more elegant "Wikipedia disambiguation page".
I think the auto-edit descriptions are ok except that in the "wikipedia" has been to to "wikimedia category" at some points and some languages have not yet been updated. --Zolo (talk) 22:35, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't we then also update pages like Help:Description#Non-article_items and Help:Description/de?--Zuphilip (talk) 14:16, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe objects with type Wikimedia list article (Q13406463) could be handled similarly? --Zuphilip (talk) 18:37, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The French translations are wrong: Wikimedia must NOT be translated to Wikimédia (corrected in the table below). See w:fr:Wikimedia. -- Bjung (talk) 22:02, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK none oppose so I start to replace "Wikimédia" with "Wikimedia" --ValterVB (talk) 10:44, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! re: Wikimedia disambiguation page (Q4167410) I noticed that more and more disambiguation pages contain additional statements. Please do not add the descriptions in this case. Please let us know what pages are affected (please let us know an url). לערי ריינהארט (talk) 08:36, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

disambiguation pages causing constraint violations

edit

Hi! Archetype (Q346973) caused a constraint violation. See https://www.wikidata.org/?oldid=118796912 . I removed the relation see https://www.wikidata.org/?diff=118826806&oldid=118825682#top .
Please verify if "special:WhatLinksHere" links to a relevant Wikidata object ("Qxxxx") and generate a report on the identified pages. Thanks in advance! לערי ריינהארט (talk) 08:55, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

{{Section resolved|1=Matěj Suchánek (talk) 09:47, 10 May 2014 (UTC)}}[reply]

@Matěj_Suchánek I added new languages to the list but did not see any change since then.
I think that this task should be done on a regullary base. With a report if the disambuguations are "clean"
a) no additional statements to WD dis pages
c) no normal articles from WMF projects linked to WD dis pages
d) no WD items linking to WD dis pages
e) label should always start with capital letters
f) basic quality validations (as namespace consistency across linked WMF pages, no redirect pages and no anchors at WMF project links, etc.)
The bot run should be transparent. A report and to do list should be generated. לערי ריינהארט (talk) 10:58, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@לערי ריינהארט: I missing your request, sorry, It was a "one shot" task, but naturally I can add "eo" and "ro" label description. I can replace existing label or not? --ValterVB (talk) 12:26, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks @ValterVB for the feedback. Please add the descriptions to the set of languages. During the last months I created hundred of new WD dis pages. Maybe you start from WLH from=16800000 .

@לערי ריינהארט: I can start from beginning, but is necessary that you say how do if already exist label: replace with new label or not? --ValterVB (talk) 13:14, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Another thing: only disambiguation or disambiguation, template and category? --ValterVB (talk) 13:17, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@ValterVB I think it is best to start with disambiguations.
Regarding labels I think that the WMF page labels have a higher priority (for disambiguation pages). To my understanding pipes should be removed.
For disambiguations pages without English labels and with labels in languages using LATN scripts I think it is wise to add the most appropriate label. Maybe we can use the "hierarchy" defined in the list of WMF projects sorted by the number of articles.
Adding descriptions for template and category can follow later. There I have seen many descriptions added manually . They sould be preserved.
Note: If WD develops to an ontology (consists of ontological object) labels would need to describe the items and may differ from the WMF articles (explaining some aspects of these items). Normally only humans can see the differences and can chose the proper label. לערי ריינהארט (talk) 13:33, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
::@לערי ריינהארט: Sorry I mean descriptions not label: replace with new description or not? I don't add or change label. --ValterVB (talk) 13:41, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@ValterVB Please replace the description(s) with the description texts from listed in the requirement in the main paragraph. These texts are up to date using Wikimedia and not Wikipedia. I have seen some English descriptions worded only as "disambiguation". לערי ריינהארט (talk) 13:54, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
