For people only?
editIs this property intended to be used for people (human beings) only or can it also be used for national teams? Example: Kuwait men's national football team (Q206828) with country for sport (P1532) → Kuwait (Q817)? If not, we need another property, but I don't see any reason why we couldn't just adopt the constraints and descriptions of this property and use it for national teams then as well. (Ping: user:Jared Preston) Cheers, Yellowcard (talk) 10:05, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
- @Yellowcard: Obviously you'll understand why I made that undo at Kuwait men's national football team (Q206828), because the "domain" listed above clearly states "person". I can only assume that usage on items that don't have instance of (P31)human (Q5) would cause an error. Unfortunately, however, I'm a complete novice when it comes to properties. Jared Preston (talk) 13:11, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Jared, yes, your revert seems clear to me. I just think that this property can be adopted to be able to also cope with national teams. Let's wait for more opinions if there are any, otherwise I'm going to open this property for national teams only unless there is any oppose. Cheers – and thanks for bringing this up, Yellowcard (talk) 15:25, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
- From what I can see in the constraints:type above national sports team (Q1194951) is an allowed class. If Kuwait national football team stills triggers the constraints reports, it is probably because of that Q206828 do not have the correct statements yet. -- Innocent bystander (talk) 16:35, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
- No, the constraint reports look very good, there's no constraint violation listed. This question is about the general use. If national teams are accepted, the description of the property should be updated. Cheers, Yellowcard (talk) 16:47, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
- Well, a team is a group of sportsmen, so I see no violation there either. -- Innocent bystander (talk) 17:04, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

About any international contests, not only sport?
editsuch as Eurovision...--Avatar6 (talk) 09:43, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
- How about participant in (P1344)? How many times each person participated in Eurovision? Once, several times? See also Wikidata:List_of_properties/Person
- If you omit sport in P1532 then you have to query every occupation that corresponds to "sport" and you have to fill information for every person who occupied in any sport. d1g 21:45, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
Value Taipei, China (Q30940804) will be automatically replaced to value Chinese Taipei (Q216923).
editI do not agree with the automatic deletion of Taiwan (Q865) from country for sport (P1532). For me, there must be both values Taiwan (Q865) and Chinese Taipei (Q216923) allowed. Florentyna (talk) 12:11, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, Chinese Taipei appeared in 1979, for athletes who competed before that we need to use Taiwan. Сидик из ПТУ (talk) 07:57, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Florentyna: As pointed by GZWDer, Taipei, China (Q30940804)'s autoreplace should be good, because that one, only that one, is only a clause from PR China news medias. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 09:00, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- I think we can do the replacement for any people born after 1969, but not ones born before.--GZWDer (talk) 15:02, 27 November 2019 (UTC)

I don't know if I was understood right: Krdbot replaces Taiwan with Chinese Taipei. Wanted was to replace Taipei, China with Chinese Taipei. I do not agree with this one-sided following of Chinese politics and ignoring Taiwanese politics. --Florentyna (talk) 04:38, 14 May 2020 (UTC)
