@Estopedist1: Most of the edits in the past two days are vandalism. Look at their edits falsifying statements on:

• Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (Q183555)
• Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (Q46717)
• Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (Q161087)
• Big Hero 6 (Q13091172)
• Captain America: Civil War (Q18407657)
• Captain America: The First Avenger (Q275120)

Since they moved on to adding unsourced religion statements but there I didn't check if they were incorrect therefore didn't revert them.

Most recently they are addin wrong minimum age (P2899) qualifiers on items oncontent ratings which I haven't had the time to go through and revert.

Honestly, I don't even see vandalism, you and the IP are fighting over references (nothing particularly problematic), nothing that creates major problems for the pages. Personally I believe that making the elements semi-protect only feeds the attacks by the LTA (which, knowing the user category, will certainly not stop in front of a block or semi-protect), so in my opinion it would be more appropriate not to give it strings, and block it only when it actually vandalizes, which it.wiki references are not. 62.18.48.220

It seems that I have to explain this in detail. For FASTWEB (Q499342), the IP added a reference (P143) for a logo and wrote: "recently removed, but was there https://it.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fastweb&diff=131336818&oldid=130946461". When you look at the given diff, you see that there was no logo defined in it.wp before and the logo Fastweb logo flat.png was added. This logo is different from the one in the Wikidata item. When you check the used template (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Azienda), you see that for the logo the Wikidata property is used when it is not defined locally in it.wp. Therefore, the logo in the Wikidata item can't be imported from it.wp, because it was never defined there and was on the contrary automatically embedded from Wikidata. This use of P143 is simply wrong here.

For CoopVoce (Q3689968), they added a reference (P143) for a slogan and wrote: "previously it was there https://it.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=CoopVoce&oldid=131123315". While it is true that in a earlier version the slogan was stated in it.wp, it is not anymore. I have explained to the LTA on various occasions that they have to use properties and references properly, which they promised to do but neither corrected old incorrect claims nor adapted their edit behaviour accordingly. I am not going to accept this and clean up all their wrong and messy edits.

As far as CoopVoce (Q3689968) is concerned, if it was present before and now it is no longer, this does not mean that the reference to it.wiki (from where it was imported) should be removed.

Honestly, I'm a little sick of you always digging and undoing items I work on for hours. Rather think about contributing too, and not just rollbacks (which is normal and right that you do since you have the role of rollbacker, but you also have to contribute to the expansion of the contents), and your history proves it.

LTA vandalising Wikidata to harass admins on other projects

This (WMF-banned) LTA has taken to reverting my edits here as an attempt to harass me (they apparently think I actually watch my, mostly automated, edits here). See e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, etc. I haven't dug into the details but I know at least one other admin on enWS that has been dealing with their nonsense has been similarly targeted here.

I'm not particularly bothered by the attempted harassment, but it tends to leave the data here in an inconsistent state so you may want to do something about it. Those of you patrolling recent changes might want to keep your eye out for IPs (and very rarely new user accounts) doing these kinds of reverts. enWS has had some success using the Abuse Filter to automatically block these, so you may also want to consider that as an option. They're WMF-banned from all projects so no need to hesitate over blocking and mass-reverting their changes if you spot them. Xover (talk) 10:27, 14 January 2023 (UTC)

I attempted to use Properties for Deletion but was unable to proceed, I think because of a user rights limitation. It instructed me to ask the admins and directed me by link to this noticeboard

This property is being used to collate Commons pictures of a personal nature. The property masquerades as a valid Wikidata property. I just want to bring to your attention the unwarranted "name calling" here [12]. Noted at the bottom of the pyramid found at WD:NPA. I have contributed some in the last two years, but I have not had this negative and hostile response in any WMF project. My history on all projects include contributions to many cultures, including this one.

This behavior is certainly not constructive toward collaboratively building Wikidata, does not assume good faith and, if this behavior is repeated, may cause other volunteer editors to leave this project or other Wikimedia Foundation projects altogether. Also, I only accidentally discovered this personal attack directed toward me on the item's talk page, not my talk page and I was not pinged to notify me of this comment.

LlywelynII's comment is unnecessarily incivil, it's abrasive, and it's putatively in reference to the edit of yours that they reverted. But it's not personal--a little hint is that if you had to go out of your way to find it, and it doesn't mention your (or anyone's name) then it's not directed personally at you. Furthermore, it's not much of an attack, because it's conditional: "If you are so..." so in fact LlywelynII isn't calling anyone names but just vaguely casting aspersions around people who might take the opposite position in that content dispute.

It's a content dispute, so in my humble, non-admin opinion, I say that you now have a duty to resolve your hurt feelings civilly with LlywelynII and resolve the content dispute in an amicable way, or you can just leave it alone and unwatchlist that item. For what it's worth, yeah, it's completely a content issue. The editor in question is fine. I don't have any ill feeling towards them as a human, there's no NPA involved in the original contents or my current feelings, and I naturally appreciate all of their efforts to improve this project even if their actions were so wrong and unhelpful in this instance.

We need somewhere to park the extremely nonobvious previous romanizations of the metal aspect of the Wuxing (5 Elements). There shouldn't've been a blanking if the editor in question had nowhere else to move them and that was a bad decision on their part. Personally, I don't think it's necessary to create a separate entry for metal-as-an-ancient-Chinese-element if we aren't doing the same thing for air-as-an-ancient-Greek-element and mud-as-an-ancient-Egyptian-element. The Chinese were talking about metal-metal within the contexts of their own system; weird romanizations of those systems show up in English; those weird romanizations of those discussions belong in the list of English synonyms here. The only Sinophobia was failing to think through that a Chinese context might be a subfeature of English discussions of the topic; of course it's not the only context; and of course the editor in question is probably a stellar person in most respects, this blanking of useful content notwithstanding. It's a failure to think through systematic bias (cf. WP:BIAS) and not any sort of active bias I'm sure.

That said, if they create a separate Chinese-element entry for each of the Wuxing, create the appropriate links and formatting, and park the synonyms there instead... yeah, of course that's fine and even an improvement. To the extent my comment made them feel personally uncomfortable and less happy with helping out around here, yeah, that sucks and I'm sorry. The whole idea is to help out and improve things and many hands make lighter work. You really should do more manual editing to build up experience before making batch edits. And you should review all batch edits for quality before executing them. Apple did have an art institution program for design and MoMA had been part of that exhibition. If you think there is a better property name that would be more fitting to the institutions previously uploaded then that makes sense. The initial institutions upload seemed to make sense to me and was cleared by other people.

It was the "individuals" (that should be changed to humans) upload that had all the problems and is most concerning. The Wines Site Inc etc. should have been deleted with the concerning bunch as it was uploaded with the "individuals" - it was probably flagged as an individual in our TMS system but it is actually an institution so it did not separate properly before the OpenRefine process.

If you think of a better property for the institutions already uploaded rather than "art institution" - then you can certainly revert those and I will change the property and re-upload them. Allyshaleonard (talk) 19:09, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

Thank you very much. I also wanted to point out that originally the reason these were uploaded as duplicates was that OpenRefine had said upload had failed, so after some trial and error I walked away. Later when I returned to work, WikiData showed successes in multiple uploads and this was unintentional and a technical issue. Not sure what to do about it, but just wanted to include that issue with OpenRefine as well in case it occurs for others. It's not. Even the description on the property says it is not: "Use a more specific property where feasible; this property will be deprecated". Will be and are are, of course, not the same thing (and I agree that something that vague should not be used). The constraints are not wrong though. It shouldn't matter how many violations it creates. The current usage is a fundamental data quality issue in Wikidata that needs to be resolved.

I removed it as an allowed qualifier to encourage people to not use the property and find better uses where they can. If we don't have the constraint, people are continuing to use it when they shouldn't, therefore making the jobs of those who will clean it up in the future even harder.

From what I've seen of current usages of "of" based on a script I created last night to monitor new usages, people are using it even when there are alternatives. They either don't know that we're trying to not use the property because it's not clearly stated in the property's description that they shouldn't, or they don't want to take the time to find alternatives and use it because it currently does not bring up any constraint violations.

Yes, some people may choose to ignore it the constraint violations, but others will not and actually consider whether they should use the property to begin with or fix current usages - therefore bringing down the usage of this property that needs to go away at some point. Constraint violations are especially important to new contributors like the edit brought up to begin with, where the user does not know why "of" should not be used in the first place or that they should be searching for alternatives.

I didn't intentionally "blatantly lie". It was my understanding that the property was deprecated. I stated this understanding after I made that discussion post. I was mistaken. I came to understand this property is not deprecated after Yupik clarified this with me. I have even created a new discussion post asking for it to now be considered deprecated.
