Missing DOB/DOD edit

Hi Amir,

I had a look at the reports you compiled at User:Ladsgroup/Birth date report/No Wikidata. I think it would be worth adding these dates directly to the items. To avoid too many problems, it might work to fill missing dates at Wikidata as follows:

  • Extract dates from Template:Infobox person (starting maybe with English). If the dates are the same or your report has no date, add it to Wikidata. If you already built your report from these templates, I'd just go ahead and add them.
  • Extract dates from Template:Persondata (starting maybe with German). If the dates are the same or your report has no date, add it to Wikidata. I found that some articles in French Wikipedia had no infobox with dates, but an equivalent article in German with nicely formatted dates in de:Vorlage:Personendaten (see Wikidata:Bot_requests#date_of_birth).
  • Cross check your report with categories like en:Category:1901_births. If it matches, add the date to Wikidata.

The same can work for dates of death. Persondata can also give place of birth or place of death. --- Jura 06:45, 24 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, It's a good thing and I like to work on them but the problem is we can't be sure all of them are Gregorian or Julian (It's important for us to get the correct system) and even there are dates stored in Wikipedia that are newer than 1912 and they are Julian (It was deprecated in 18th century) As a first step I'll work on dates after 1950 Amir (talk) 18:47, 24 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

I haven't given this much thought yet. Defaults at Wikidata already seem odd (and probably made me enter it wrong at Q892495).
If en:Wikipedia_talk:Persondata/Archive_4#Which_calendar.3F is correct, en:Template:Persondata uses whatever is in the article and, ideally specifies it.
The German version seems to mandate the Gregorian calendar.
To be safe, starting at 1920 might be sufficient. --- Jura 19:32, 24 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Ok, give some days (I have to study for my exams) and I'll do itAmir (talk) 19:44, 24 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Jura1: I started harvesting them [1], It'll take some days to finish and up to three weeks to update the dumps (so I can update the reports) Amir (talk) 12:18, 2 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Cool. I checked a few. Looks good. BTW at [2] there may be daily extract of the German WP. --- Jura 22:34, 2 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
I will work on them after my exams (in 20 days) Amir (talk) 04:55, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Good luck! Don't let yourself get sidetracked by Wikidata. --- Jura 05:07, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Jura1: @GerardM: @Nemo bis:. I started with Italian Wikipedia

I hope you like it Amir (talk) 06:31, 14 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

I had a look at the first five of No Wikidata/it/1 on Wikidata and :it:, but they all already had a DOB on Wikidata. --- Jura 07:09, 14 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I find the problem, Give me some hours to fix the issue. I have to re-run Wikidata dumps reading Amir (talk) 07:46, 14 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
It would be useful if the report didn't consider "conflicting" two dates which only have a different degree of precision, like «Hans Joachim Moser: 1967-08-14 - 1967-00-». When the conflict report is cleaned from those, I'll forward it to it.wiki for inspection and manual fixes.
In general, I think no real work is possible with dates on Wikidata until it.wiki dates are imported. It's fine if you start with those after 1918 or so; the run will be long, it will probably not end before your exams anyway. Dates imported from en.wiki and others have a lower level of precision (often only year). --Nemo 07:25, 16 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yesterday was deadline of my project so My summer has officially began :))) I want to work on dates (and I'm going to do) but first things first, can you add a something to your template to make a category like this w:fr:Catégorie:Local image but no image on Wikidata (but on nationalities) so I can have the list of people that needs to work on and start on them. Amir (talk) 10:07, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Nemo bis: Can you add something like this to w:it:Template:Bio:{{#ifeq:{{#if:{{#property:P27}}|NO|YES}}{{#if:{{{Nazionalità|}}}|YES|NO}}|YESYES|[[Category:Local Nationalities but not in Wikidata]]}}? It would make things easier for me Amir (talk) 18:54, 18 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Another thing: Adding missing DoB and DoD after 1925 from Italian Wikipedia is finished nowAmir (talk) 19:25, 18 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Oh, wow for dates! I don't have such powers for template:bio, I suppose you'd only need it temporarily? But then it may take up to 30 days to populate the category right? --Nemo 16:53, 19 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
I need it temporarily, and it's okay Amir (talk) 16:57, 19 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Jura1: I'm using the file and harvesting these data from German Wikipedia now Special:Contributions/Dexbot Amir (talk) 15:02, 5 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

That's good news. More and more items now have dates. Thanks! I noticed Magnus' bot adds some as well. --- Jura 08:51, 7 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wikinews edit

Your bot defines wrong links to Wikinews. Categories of Wikinews is "news related to theme", and there's no other pages except the news in the main space. Categories of Wikinews need to be linked to the basic item, and not a category (as other projects). See also my proposal: Wikidata:Wikinews/Development. Stop and undo changes please. --sasha (krassotkin) 10:39, 20 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Even though I think you're wrong, since Category:Germany in all Wikis should be linked together no matter what is inside them (A good example: Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia) but I stopped my bot. please make a topic in WD:PC about this and if we have reached a consensus, We will act upon it. Amir (talk) 10:48, 20 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
There is galleries in Commons. But in Wikinews in main space is nothing (only news). There is only a one object, which can be associated with a item in Wikinews and this is category ("news related to theme"). This was the initial request which is now approved. --sasha (krassotkin) 11:03, 20 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Can you show me the discussion? Amir (talk) 11:07, 20 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
It's my proposal (draft version) and it saw members of all Wikinews projects. We had no objection in this regard. In main space we have redirects to similar categories (example). --sasha (krassotkin) 11:20, 20 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Bot: Importing article from Hebrew wikipedia edit

Hey there! How often do you run it? I see some new articles in Hebrew Wikipedia which had not been assigned an entry for over a week. בורה בורה (talk) 01:47, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Coordinates from Catalan Wikipedia edit

I see you uploaded a lot of coordinates from Catalan Wikipedia. There is still a lot of articles with coordinates in Catalan Wikipedia without coordinates in Wikidata. What is needed to upload the remaining ones?--Pere prlpz (talk) 18:44, 13 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I ran a global script to import from all languages of Wikipedia. I will import from Catalan Wikipedia but can you give me some examples? Thanks Amir (talk) 19:00, 13 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks to you.
Some examples: ca:Agulhes deth Pòrt, ca:Alameda de Osuna, ca:Agulla de Bot, ca:Antiga muralla de Torà, ca:Antilles, ca:Basílica de Santa Maria de Vilafranca. A few thousands examples more (and some false positives) can be found in this query, although the query doesn't produce all articles with coordinates to upload because it uses a category that is still being updated. Furthermore, there are a few thousands articles with coordinates but without Wikidata item, like ca:Aeroport (barri de Palma).--Pere prlpz (talk) 21:45, 13 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi. I did the change you requested in ca:Plantilla_Discussió:Coord#Please_add_this_category_into_the_template. The category has been created at ca:Categoria:Articles amb coordenades sense coordenades a Wikidata, but there are two issues that might pose a problem to you:
  • The category includes a few articles with inline coordinates but without title coordinates. I'm asking for help in cawiki to fix this, but maybe you can filter out those articles when importing.
  • The new category still needs a touch to be updated.
I expect both issues to be solved in a few days.--Pere prlpz (talk) 09:47, 18 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

It's working now and adding these coordinates Amir (talk) 11:30, 19 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please respect User talk:Ladsgroup#Company with hq. Also consider appropriateness of adding coordinates to items like Q639746 (event), Q427247 (list) or Q16172243 (organization). To keep some consistency of WD it is not possible to just add all coordinates from all articles in another. --Jklamo (talk) 12:22, 19 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Stopped. I fix it and re-run. Amir (talk) 12:27, 19 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Jklamo: I fixed all of them in code except the event, Events can have P625 (like incidents) there is nothing wrong with that Amir (talk) 14:28, 19 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for fast fix. --Jklamo (talk) 20:29, 19 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
The problem with Q427247 was a wrong interwiki, now fixed. And I agree that events should have coordinates.--Pere prlpz (talk) 20:51, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

I see most of the remaining 14,000 articles don't have a related Wikidata item. Do you need me to crate such items before importing coordinates?--Pere prlpz (talk) 08:29, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sure, Just started and it's working Amir (talk) 08:34, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Persondata for he.wiki edit

Hi Amir, Bora Bora and Kotz,

It's nice to see that you already met :)

Amir (Ladsgroup) is creating reports that compare person data between languages and finds places where dates need to be corrected. It's quite related to what Bora Bora and Kotz are doing lately in the Hebre Wikipedia.

Amir told me that in order to add the Hebrew Wikipedia to these reports, it needs to use the persondata template more. Kotz & Bora Bora, can you try doing it? I'm too busy in the coming weeks.

Thank you all! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 13:13, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Do what? Kotz (talk) 13:32, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hello Kotz, If I want to explain it, my bot is harvesting birth dates in w:Template:PERSONDATA and their similar templates in Italian and German Wikipedia, even though lots of Wikis have it but they don't use it widely on their articles. Do you have something similar to harvest from Hebrew Wikipedia? Amir (talk) 13:43, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

We don't have this. We have 35 or so different templates, for "Basketball player", "Filmwriter", "Scientist" etc. [3] Kotz (talk) 13:52, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Do you have a template for birth date in general like w:en:Template:Birth date and age? Amir (talk) 13:55, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

no Kotz (talk) 14:37, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Kotz, the English Wikipedia also has templates for scientists, musicians, and so on, and it also has persondata, which is an invisible template for all people.
Also, can't we somehow use w:he:תבנית:גיל לערכי אישים, on which you worked recently? --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 14:45, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Amir E. Aharoni:

  1. hewiki does not have any template, invisible or otherwise, which is used on all people pages, except the 35 per-profession templates described earlier.
  2. w:he:תבנית:גיל לערכי אישים is a parametric template whhich gets as input one or two dates, and outputs a string such as ("died at 45"). This template is transcluded from any of the 35 templates shown above. If any bot is going to use this data, it needs to do one of the following:
    1. recursively pass all the templates until it gets to the invocation of [:w:he:תבנית:גיל לערכי אישים]]
    2. We can have [:w:he:תבנית:גיל לערכי אישים]] provide birth date and death date as a hidden text. Bot should then read the output of the page (post all template expansions) and look for the hidden text.

Does any of this help? Kotz (talk) 15:32, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

At this point I have nothing to add. But I am following up on this discussion... בורה בורה (talk) 01:57, 24 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dexbot: Removing duplicate values edit

Your bot should consider attributes of duplicates values. If there are two identical values of a property, it should never remove that one with attributes and leave that one without attributes.

this happened here: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q5809&diff=153407822&oldid=151892161 Thomas11 (talk) 07:34, 26 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Problematic edit in he.wiki edit

Hi,

he.wiki users noticed a couple of problems with your bot's test edits.

Scroll to the end of this version's source and see a couple of things:

  1. Some Link FA/GA templates are not removed - mk, mo, de, zh
  2. Too many empty lines are left. You are probably only removing the template, but not the associated line endings.

Can you please look at it closely?

Thanks! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 19:31, 31 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hey Amir, Sorry for being a little late:

  1. My bot doesn't remove templates that haven't been imported to wikidata. It's important because It allows to see what's missing (we can clean up former featured articles in every wiki by running python pwb.py featured -fromall -former, If you want I can run that for you too). You can read more about this in w:Wikipedia:Bots/Requests_for_approval/Dexbot_2
  2. I fixed that, It's working okay now :)

BestAmir (talk) 11:09, 1 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for fixing number 2. Can you please do another trial run on 10 articles?
I'm not sure that I understand number 1. Is it because these languages haven't adapted to the new system yet? Will you keep running the bot to remove these templates as they are getting adapted? --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 11:33, 1 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Another trial is done, Thank you for your work here. for the first issue there are two reasons mainly: 1- The badge isn't in Wikidata (Maybe my bot hasn't imported them or it's because the article is no longer featured/good) 2- I remove Template:Link GA separately since it uses another generator (backlinks of Template:Link GA) combining them and writing a combined script doesn't worth the time and it may cause issues. 11:48, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
Cool.
You have the bot permission! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 16:45, 1 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have blocked the bot for the time being, it is malfunctioning. It removes the template without verifying the badge is actually on wikidata. Please fix this, Thanks Matanya (talk) 07:49, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Matanya: Hey, Can you give me examples to see? I wrote the script in a way to remove just migrated badges (I wrote reports based on it) Just one thing that my bot removes is when the article marked featured in Wikidata but marked good in Wikipedia (I added it in the newest run) because it shows the Wikipedia is not updated (usually articles got promoted from good to featured vice versa is uncommon) Amir (talk) 08:09, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
We used to have a star in the "in other languages"menu (interwiki box). Since the bot started removing the templates, it broke. I'm not sure who's blame it is. I'll check with reporters if they noticed more issues. Matanya (talk) 09:23, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Source of data ? edit

Hi,

Where did you get this date of birth (P569) on Paul Féval (Q472568) ? (diff of Dexbot).

On many blogs and general website, we can find this date but I never had a reliable source (but I have several reliable on his birth the 29th). Did you have a reliable source ?

Cdlt, VIGNERON (talk) 17:42, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Based on this the bot imported it from English Wikipedia which is not a reliable source so you can easily remove or change them if you find any issues. Amir (talk) 19:23, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Meaning of featured article edit edit

In this edit you added something to the Isaac Newton page related to featured articles. Does this mean that the Isaac Newton article in one or more language versions of Wikipedia is a featured article, or does it mean the Wikidata page about Newton is a featured article? If the latter, it shouldn't be, because the birth and death dates are wrong. Jc3s5h (talk) 12:56, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hey, Issac Newton item is not featured in Wikidata, it's not a showcase item, but It implies that article of Isaac Newton in ar, eg, bs, mt and vls is featured and in ru wiki is a good article. Amir (talk) 19:05, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I learned from another editor that the Isaac Newton birth and death dates are correct in the database, they are just displayed in a confusing way. Looking at the Wikidata page, it seems to be saying the dates are in the Julian calendar, but what it really means is that the dates are in the Gregorian calendar, but should be displayed to the end user in the Julian calendar, which means that whatever software is grabbing the dates from Wikidata ought to do a Gregorian-to-Julian conversion before displaying the date. One link has two or more badges edit

Hi, is it possible to make a list of articles which have two badges seen on a wiki. Here you can see that enwiki has two different badges (one came from wikidata, one was in article text). Another case: this article has two badges for svwiki (Link LA [not yet supported by Wikidata] and Link FA), so Link FA overrode Link LA, but LA is the correct status of sv article. There who status templates for svwiki (both of them wrong, correct badge coming from Wikidata). Do you think it's possible to make a list of those cases so I could fix them by hand then? --Stryn (talk) 20:05, 10 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

It looks like Q16045043 is dup with Aristide Briand (Q179888), Q16046895 with Godfrey of Bouillon (Q76721), and Q16047017 with Robert Doisneau (Q154599). However, they all have their own fawiki articles. If I am right, can you post a message on the fawiki community board and ask them to removes the dups on their side first?

Thanks, --LBE (talk) 12:35, 21 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wrong label for ru edit

Current version of Dexbot ignores international variation in quotation marks, so sometimes it gives wrong labels. Could you modify the algorithm, please? --Lockal (talk) 09:48, 29 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hey, thank you for the notice. let me see what I can do to 1- fix the current version 2- fix the mistakes. Amir (talk) 17:27, 29 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
I'd propose not to use quotes in titles of Wikinews. --Infovarius (talk) 16:48, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
We can make a weekly or daily report on unbalanced quotation marks (and even parentheses signs) in labels and it can be handled manually. It seems like a reasonable task. Amir (talk) 18:49, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Mass removal of arabic aliases edit

I don't understand what it was. For example in ISO 639 (Q33547) all aliases seem to be correct. Additionally all edits about that was without bot-flag... --Infovarius (talk) 20:26, 4 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, About the flag, I fixed it as soon I realized. (Sorry about that). About what I did in general, It was after lots of talks with Persian community members of Wikidata (like User:ebraminio) and these aliases were semi-Arabic, semi-Persian added by bot as Persian aliases (I didn't touched Arabic aliases) obviously wrong ones (I assure you as a Persian native speaker) and other native Persians can confirm it (if you want, I ping them) Amir (talk) 21:35, 4 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
No the removed aliases were not correct actually, this shouldn't be added without consideration at the first place. For example the removed alias "ايزو ۶۳۹" is exactly same with current Persian label of the item "ایزو ۶۳۹" but just just with another Unicode character which is not intended to be used on Persian, assume what would happen if we had such useless and not semantically aliases for every character on every item and language on Wikidata. –ebraminiotalk 22:42, 4 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, as recommended articles and featured lists are now possible to store on Wikidata, could you start (if not started yet) by adding these recommended articles on fiwiki to Wikidata? --Stryn (talk) 14:49, 15 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I added lists and I'll add recommended soon. Amir (talk) 18:22, 15 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Working Amir (talk) 19:03, 15 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Awesome! Just to be sure: Is this ok? I mean it's marked as "guide article" on Wikivoyage. Does it mean the same as good article on Wikipedia? Shouldn't it have a different badge? --Stryn (talk) 20:15, 15 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
I did it on basis of the discussion. See Wikidata:Bot requests#Badges for Wikivoyage. I think it's better to have one instead of many since there is no overlap between them (Wikipedia doesn't have guide articles, and Wikivoyage doesn't have good articles.) Amir (talk) 20:22, 15 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Again without bot-flag. Why don't you use the flag by default? --Infovarius (talk) 10:10, 16 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Frankly, it's because of API's bad structure, since you have to add bot=1 to every API call you make even you are a bot to mark it a bot edit. it should be vice versa (default would be bot, when the user is bot and when bot=0 it mark them as non-bot edit). Anyway I just fixed it. Amir (talk) 10:15, 16 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

about deletion of redirect pages edit

Hi, Ladsgroup. I am wondering why you use User:Dexbot to delete many redirect pages (e.g., Q9315353). After item A is merged to item B, should item A be deleted or should it redirect item B? If it should be deleted, why does Wikidata introduce the function of redirect page? --Neo-Jay (talk) 09:35, 18 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I restored the item, As far as I understand Wikidata's API, It shouldn't happen since the redirected item returns the target content (and the bot acts like it's content of the item) see this for the item you exampled. Maybe output of action=query is different. let me check Amir (talk) 10:11, 18 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dexbot deletions edit

Hello, I am quite curious why a couple of hundreds of redirects I created, have been deleted by Dexbot. As an example I give Q9760271. I merged and redirected, but 10 days later your bot just deletes the redirect. I am actually quite frustrated about redirects being deleted - some admins do that when I have dealt with a RfD request but I hope that is in error, but your bot seems to have been programmed to do this? Please explain. Kind regards, Lymantria (talk) 07:31, 22 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Commons Creator import edit

Hi, i found that in many cases Dexobot imported in 6 November Dexobot imported Commons Creator (and VIAF, GND, etc.) to the disambiguation items (in some cases proper item exists, sometimes not). Lucile de Chateaubriand interesting bug edit

Hi Amir, Category:1072 in England (Q8086788) showed up in the constraint violations. Turns out the correct item is Lucile de Chateaubriand (Q18086788) so it appears that the 1 fell off. I noticed at Commons:Creator:Lucile_de_Chateaubriand that the Q is missing. Let me quess, you just chop off the first character and because the Q is missing you ended up with 8086788? ;-) Can you look into this? I'll fix this one, but some other cases might have happened. cc Ivan, he already solved a couple. Multichill (talk) 11:35, 8 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

I went through the list. User:Gymel already caught quite a few of them. I fixed the remaining.

Wikipedia is no valid source edit

stop creating invalid references like "italian wikipedia" --Eingangskontrolle (talk) 07:09, 11 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dear Eingangskontrolle, adding imported from Wikimedia project (P143) <some wikipedia> is common practice here at Wikidata. That's why English Wikipedia (Q328) is the most linked to item. This way users can see where data is coming from. Better than no source at all. You're of course more than welcome to support a claim with a real reference. Multichill (talk) 17:27, 11 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Then I will delete this claim in the IT:WP. And common practice is no good practice. I think we need a "Meinungsbild" in the DE.WP to protect us from the results of this practice. --Eingangskontrolle (talk) 18:56, 11 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Delete vs merge edit

Hi Amir, please stop deleting items like Qeshlaq-e Hajjiabad (Q7267446), but instead redirect them. Pywikibot already contains that functionality. Multichill (talk) 09:21, 11 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

I had added this check the before this error happened:
    try:
       f=urllib2.urlopen("http://wdq.wmflabs.org/api?q=string[214:\"%s\"]" % aut.get('VIAF').strip())
       res = json.loads(f.read())
    except:
       print "couldn't get url"
       res= {'items':[]}
    if res['items']:
       print "horay"
       add_it(page,text, res['items'][0])
       continue

I think it happened because of the lag in wdq. I shouldn't run several scripts back to back Amir (talk) 08:09, 12 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Pywikibot error edit

Hey, Since November 12, a copy of archivebot.py fails with

  File "/data/project/huwiki/scripts/archivebot hu.py", line 92, in <module>
    import pywikibot
ImportError: No module named pywikibot

on Tool Labs. Can you please help me, what is the problem? --JulesWinnfield-hu (talk) 09:36, 13 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, At first please be sure you are running it from pwb wrapper (and not directly):
python /data/project/huwiki/pwb.py "archivebot hu" ARGS

instead of

python /data/project/huwiki/scripts/archivebot hu.py ARGS

And be careful if you're using virtual environment you should activate it first (if you're using virtual env read this manual) and if the problem still persists, add me (Ladsgroup) to your service group so I can see what I can do about it. Amir (talk) 09:49, 13 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your answer. Until November 11 it worked fine without pwd. I don't use virtual environment. I didn't change anything. Why did it stop working? --JulesWinnfield-hu (talk) 10:20, 13 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

In core we highly recommend users to use pwb wrapper (to catch errors in arguments before sending it to the script and some other features). So please run it via pwb.py. When you run a script in scripts folder you can't import pywikibot directly so it uses pywikibot general installation (in dist util folder not your local folder) I think this installation in labs has been uninstalled to prevent errors or other reasons. Amir (talk) 10:33, 13 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I changed the command. Will see tonight. --JulesWinnfield-hu (talk) 11:00, 13 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Removing valid claims and making invalid claims edit

I see here, https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q1073057&action=history , that you have removed the claim P132 (P132) = non-metropolitan district (Q1187580). This is not right. Chiltern (Q1073057) is a non-metropolitan district (Q1187580) and has been since 1 April 1974. There's a whole load of these errors made by this bot. Danrok (talk) 21:44, 14 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

You confuse P131 and P132. Dexbot removed located in the administrative territorial entity (P131) => Q1187580 which is fine. --JulesWinnfield-hu (talk) 22:01, 14 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Danrok deleted P31 which your bot had created. I fixed that by hand, but could your bot duplicate all P132 to P31 in case there is no P31 at all? P132 is really a pain. Andrea Shan (talk) 05:55, 17 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Languages - move P133 to P279 edit

Could your bot copy all P133 (super language family OBSOLETE) to P279 and then delete P133 statements? There is currently a mess with P31, P279 and P133 for language items. Removing P133 from the list of properties that one has to check, makes the editing easier for people actually editing the items. There are still more than 1500 items for "claim[133] and noclaim[279]". Andrea Shan (talk) 05:59, 17 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hey, My bot fixed anything it could and you can check that the report contains so much less now Amir (talk) 12:50, 17 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

P107 removal, P31 edit

"claim[107:618123] and noclaim[31]" - 110000+ items. That means, they are not classified. Could you set P31=Q618123, so the items appear within "claim[31:(tree[618123][][279])]"? And delete P107 for these items. I started this task with Widar, but that is very slow. If it is done, GND will only have ~6000 items left. Andrea Shan (talk) 10:01, 18 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please don't do this. The idea behind the deletion of P107 was to get more specific claims with P31. With turning P107=Q618123 to P31=Q618123 we win nothing. During the last 30 days we have replaced 80,000 claims of P107 to more specific P31 claims [9] and I'm optimistc we can continue with that. --Pasleim (talk) 10:13, 18 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict)I like to do that but during our talks about migration away from P107 people decided not to do this task and start by adding a reasonable P31 from the start and remove P107 anywhere that there is P31 (I do this task once in month) Amir (talk) 10:16, 18 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
I see no rational. For editors that work manually it is easier to change the value of a property than to create a new statement, and delete another statement. 22 000 in two days or less. That looks like a very special factor that helped to have 80 000 in 30 days. There could be more such things, but the fewer are left, the less likely it is. Ladsgroup could fix Property talk:P107#Having separate properties for controlled ontologies is silly in a day. For those people that use bots, altering instanceOf to a more specific value is very easy too. Having items without instanceOf or subClassOf, apart from "entity" is silly too. Ladsgroup could help to get more items tagged with instanceOf. People that have nothing to do with GND editing but are interested in fixing this bug, will benefit, since their list of items having this bug is reduced by 110 000 items in one day. Unbundling the two tasks
  • assigning any instanceOf and deleting P107 (within 24h)
  • improving instanceOf
allows people to do what they can do best. Andrea Shan (talk) 20:40, 18 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Already in P31 tree 618123 edit

"claim[107:618123] and claim[31:(tree[618123][][279])]" ~4500 items. P107 can be removed. Andrea Shan (talk) 00:24, 19 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
