This looks like a lazy attempt to avoid listing all sports of multi-sport events (such as the Olympics) with sport (P641). Per this query, there are some 100 uses to be replaced before this item can be deleted. MisterSynergy (talk) 18:04, 23 July 2019 (UTC)

soil salinization (Q25420941): Soil salinization happens when the salt content in soil increases above normal, naturally occurring levels: (delete | history | links | entity usage | logs)

Merged with Q935277 --Grumbler eburg (talk) 10:06, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

  • How certain are you that these are the same thing? I had google translate some of the articles, and they seem like they are different things even though discussing similar subjects. I undid your changes until a 3rd party can confirm. Plus, your edits were unneeded because a merge would have done them. Quakewoody (talk) 11:51, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
Well, then, since you agree that they are different - maybe someone (with language abilities) should check the other data/links on the two, to make sure they are on the correct items. Quakewoody (talk) 16:52, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
I don't think it's the same as salt pan (Q935277) (a type of landform), but based on Google translation to "saline soil" and categorisation as a type of soil, it may be the same as soil salinization (Q754836) in some languages - Q754836 looks like it is about at least three things: soil salinization, soil salinity and saline soil, and has always been about at least the first two, and two items - soil salinization (Q16118071) soil salinity and soil salinization (Q3977119) saline soil - were merged to it. Q25420941 should be kept, but there may be sitelinks that could be moved to it from Q754836 (such as the Italian article originally in Q3977119). Peter James (talk) 17:47, 4 February 2020 (UTC)

"Засоленная почва" = "salt(ed?) soil", it's an umbrella term for surfaces classified by concentration of salt (poorly/слабозасоленные, medium/среднезасоленные, highly/сильнозасоленные), and partly by poorness of coverage by plants because of that. The term of 'salt pan' describes only the surfaces appeared after complete evaporation of lakes or ponds. For example, solonchaks are not necessarily a result of evaporation of water areas. --Wolverène (talk) 08:02, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

Items about "entrepreneurs" with P973

I suspect that many of these items are spam, primarily because the behavior of spammers lately has been to add a bunch of probably junk P973s to the items they create in order to appear legitimate. Mahir256 (talk) 06:26, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

Hi Liuxinyu970226
Thanks for reviving the topic, it's useful
Yes, there are three different games indeed, for NES, Sega Genesis and Game Boy.
Q3535976 is for the NES game, links to WP are correct for this one.
I just realize I made a mistake by making a request for deletion for Q73910738 (I didn't get Winterheart's answer, I must admit he was right). So we should keep it. The problem is that the French WP doesn't make difference between the three games but doesn't talk of series either. The English WP is correct, so I 've just relinked it to Q73910738, as well as the french WP for now (the article should be changed on WP, it would be better).
Sorry for that, it's all my fault.
Thanks and have a nice day

Q27561770: no description: (delete | history | links | entity usage | logs)

The item does not meet notability requirements. It's generated by a bot from a database entry in a catalunian museum's database without indicating to which print by Franz Marc it actually refers. The item therefore does not refer to "clearly identifiable conceptual or material entity". There is not title, no image, nothing by which the artwork might be identified. A print by Franz Marc dating from 1904 cannot be found on the museum's website. Further, I couldn't find prints by Franz Marc from 1904 nowhere in the internet or in art books. Maybe it is an error in the year and should read 1907 or 1914? Then it might as well be a print for which a wikidata item already exists. In any case, as it is, the item is more confusing than giving the user any information especially no reliable or verifiable information. --Bjs (talk) 09:12, 8 March 2020 (UTC)

@KRLS: as the bot operator, can you please have a look what's on here? There is an inventory number in the item, but I do not manage to locate this item on the museum's website catalog. Thanks for your input. —MisterSynergy (talk) 10:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

I was just bot operator, maybe @ESM:, as project manager, has got more information about this item.--KRLS (talk) 09:57, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
At least you may possibly know which database the bot searched and whether the item is still to be found there (possibly with further information)--Bjs (talk) 20:12, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
It has a description, "Ex Libris Daniel Pest". The only mention I can find is on artnet.com and refers to an auction; is it possible that the museum sold it? Peter James (talk) 12:52, 22 March 2020 (UTC)

@Bjs, KRLS, ESM, Peter James: as the information of the item is apparently impossible to verify, I have deleted the item. If any of you or anyone else can actually spot the item, I'd undelete of course. Items by User:Zerocoolpasta

Spam, no sources for notability. Items were already deleted, User:Zerocoolpasta requested undeletion and promised to improve these items with references (see Wikidata:Administrators' noticeboard/Archive/2020/02#Request_to_Restore_Deleted_Items), but failed to do so. Jklamo (talk) 13:21, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

Keep Most of these seems notable to me. --Trade (talk) 13:48, 23 March 2020 (UTC)
@Trade: Could you please elaborate on which ones seem notable and why? Thanks. Bovlb (talk) 23:40, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

@Jklamo Not sure what the status is on these exactly. Again as stated before we are by no means experts at adding or editing Wikidata entries. Honestly we dont even want to be involved in this but our hands are tied so we are trying to make due. I think if you look we have added several references to the entries. The references are all as far as we can tell, voluntarily written by a third party not associated with us or the entity. They seem to provide factual information that helps substantiate the claims being made in one form or another. If they were not entered correctly or in the right spot just let me know. Again I reiterate that these entries, for us they are an integral part of our project and not just for nothing like some entries seem to be. Again I know this isnt the spot to request an undeletion but will re-open that in the proper spot at the proper time. Zerocoolpasta (talk) 14:01, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

  •   Delete I remember that discussion but I did not re-look at it or at the items. So, from memory...
The items were previously deleted. And were reinstated by request (as opposed to "oops, they shouldn't have been deleted in the first place") as a test for this guy's "who who of lawyers". If this test group passes, the list is going to be expanded. So, I believe, if this test group wasn't drastically improved, then we should delete them to prevent the list from being expanded. Quakewoody (talk) 14:50, 23 March 2020 (UTC)
  •   Comment I was the undeleting admin (four weeks ago), and I did so on the basis of giving Zerocoolpasta "some rope here to improve these items with references and evidence of notability". Looking at the 12 items, I see that three have been given additional references since the undeletion, but none of these references appear to establish notability. @Zerocoolpasta: Can you please explain your plans to establish notability for these entities? Thanks, Bovlb (talk) 18:09, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

@Bovlb We have collected quite a few links and "reference material" on each firm / attorney as its needed on our end as well to populate the dataset / data tables. I honestly think some of the problem is just our understanding of notability when it comes to such entries. We understand (at least I think we do) the requirements for notoriety to Wikidata and while initially we felt the updates would be accepted its clear now they are not good enough. So first part of this is to ask what doesnt make them acceptable (this is a legit question and not to be taken as snarky). It seems that notoriety could be subjective as it pertains to a particular industry. We can add more references if that would help. Again just know that as mentioned before these entries we feel are not SPAM at all and know that as of right now we dont plan on adding any more entries. The other firms in our dataset are already in Wikidata and are all modeled the same way. Zerocoolpasta (talk) 20:43, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

@Zerocoolpasta: The guiding policy here for notability is Wikidata:Notability, which has three separate criteria. An item is notable if it passes any one of these tests. Unless I've missed something, none of these items have a sitelink, so they don't meet criterion 1 (at least one valid sitelink). While they have links to each other, taken as a group, they don't really satisfy criterion 3 (structural need). Criterion 2 has two sub-criteria, both of which must be passed: these items arguably meet 2a (clearly identifiable conceptual or material entity), so we're stuck on 2b (can be described using serious and publicly available references). The references you are providing seem to mostly be where a subject is being interviewed by a local paper about a client's case, but it is the client and the case that is the focus of the article (and hence potentially notable), not the lawyer being interviewed. Also, these local papers are not the most serious of sources. To give an example in contrast, if you were able to show two articles from a national paper (e.g. New York Times) that were substantially about the subject of one of these items, then notability would be a slam dunk. I hope this helps you.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bovlb (talk • contribs) at 20:59, 23 March 2020‎ (UTC).

@Bovlb I think the way you put it helps us out a bit in determining which references to use. All we ask is let us review what we have and will update this week and see if the new references are better suited. Again we appreciate the patience and allowing us to update these without them being deleted (yet). Zerocoolpasta (talk) 20:42, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

@Zerocoolpasta: I recommend that you move fast. While I am not personally inclined to delete these, I do not have any veto over deletion, and it would be hard to justify undeleting them a second time. Bovlb (talk) 23:40, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

Are they one building or two? From the photograph and https://stjohannes-nuertingen.drs.de/unsere-kirchen/wolfschlugen-st-joseph.html it isn't clear. Peter James (talk) 13:24, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
They're two buildings - a bank and a church - that have nothing in common but they stand side-by-side, and a photo on Commons exists that depicts them both. Is that a reason to keep a Wikidata object? --Dealerofsalvation (talk) 13:36, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
I looked up on the cadastre ([1]), they are built wall-to-wall, but stand on two distinct plots of land. --Dealerofsalvation (talk) 13:46, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
Kreissparkasse und katholische Kirche (Q92597403) is an obvious duplicate of this item - if this item is deleted, that one should be deleted too. Furthermore, yes, these two buildings were built in the same year, maybe by the same architect, they have a similar style, but is this a reason to create an item for this combination of buildings? --Dealerofsalvation (talk) 13:20, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
This depends on the circumstances. I merged the two items, and added instance of (P31): architectural ensemble (Q1497375) to it. If both building were indeed planned and raised together, we could keep the item as it is. Otherwise I would delete them. Does anyone have more information about it? (input in German would be fine here) —MisterSynergy (talk) 18:47, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
