WikiBayer edit
RfP scheduled to end after 8 January 2024 12:01 (UTC)
- WikiBayer (talk • contribs • new items • new lexemes • SUL • Block log • User rights log • User rights • xtools)
I’m happy to request adminship for WikiBayer. He has agreed to this nomination.
The additional privileges that come with admin status would allow WikiBayer to carry out his various activities more smoothly. He told me that he would focus on fighting vandalism and clerical work, such as deleting empty category items. The ability to assign flooder status to himself would also help in some cases.
He has many years of experiences and 60k+ edits on Wikidata, has been a rollbacker since 2018 and is a user in good standing. He is also an admin on metawiki and bar.wp as well as global sysop, global rollbacker and abuse filter helper. --Emu (talk) 12:01, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- Oppose per m:Special:PermanentLink/25993503#Your block reasons, to which there has been no response to date (which is particularly concerning considering they continued after the first warning, to which they did respond). Not the behaviour I would like to see from somebody acquiring more permissions, even more so when the request is directly based on fighting vandalism, the area where said behaviour occurred. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 17:26, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @1234qwer1234qwer4: Thank you for providing the links above. For the benefit of others here is an explanation of the issue:
- making a large number of blocks, both as a global sysop and a meta admin, with the logged reason "Long-term idiot".
- I personally dislike anyone in power who uses this kind of language. Ottawahitech (talk) 22:16, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Conditional support. WikiBayer has good contributions across WMF wikis, but per 1234qwer1234qwer4 the block messages are concerning. I'd like some reassurance from WikiBayer that they will not use that kind of block message on this wiki. Other than this issue, though, they seem like a good fit for administrator. —Tomodachi94 (talk) 08:21, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- Support, I know WikiBayer because of their quite an active work as a global administrator. What's for the situation mentioned above I am sure it was just a small mistake which the user will surely avoid to repeat. --Wolverène (talk) 21:07, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Support Trusted and productive admin elsewhere, and has agreed not to use the problematic block reason going forward --DannyS712 (talk) 23:13, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- Regarding 1234qwer1234qwer4's vote, as Vermont said, I do of course understand being annoyed by LTAs and can understand WikiBayer a little bit, but I too will hopefully not see that type of block reasons here on Wikidata and I haven't seen WikiBayer blocking anyone with that rationale after the warning he got, neither as a Meta admin nor as a global sysop. That said, I haven't seen anything like this from WikiBayer here on Wikidata, and I trust him to hopefully not demonstrate it here. EPIC (talk) 18:48, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- I have indeed stopped writing this reasons by blocks. WikiBayer (talk) 11:55, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Great! My support vote will still stand. EPIC (talk) 18:09, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Blurb... (a short statement why you (or this person) should be an admin...) Your signature's timestamp for a self-nom is when the candidacy starts. For non-self-noms, the candidate should "accept" with a short statement and sign it... that timestamp is when the candidacy starts... Once this is done please transclude your candidacy on the relevant request for permissions page. --188.172.109.80 15:57, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- Oppose, you need to have the confirmed right or just do 50 edits. Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 20:27, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @Sjoerddebruin I made more than 50 edits, so I need from you to allow me to add pages on Wikidata that are protected. ROBERTSHST (talk) 06:30, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- You have 9 edits here. Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 10:12, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- Oppose You are probably looking for Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Other rights --Ameisenigel (talk) 15:51, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sjoerddebruin @Ameisenigel Please can you submit a request to the Wikimedia team to make possible for all new Wikipedia users which make some edits and later can edit semi protected Wikipedia pages (not full protected), to be able to add also pages on all Wikidata pages, even they are protected. So, they edit some Wikipedia pages and the semi-protected pages are unlocked, also all Wikidata pages to be unlocked too. So they have the ability to add a page they created to a Wikidata page, even its protected. Thanks ROBERTSHST (talk) 16:05, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- I need to be an admin on Wikidata to add pages on Wikidata that are protected. I have the ability to edit some pages that are semi protected (which a new user on Wikipedia can't edit them), so I need also to add pages on Wikidata that are protected.
- It's not clear whether they are requesting the confirmed right or adminship. Either way, could a bureaucrat perhaps consider closing this as SNOW? EPIC (talk) 09:09, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- -and I wrote that before I saw that they are now blocked, so a snow closure for this RfP should be considered. EPIC (talk) 09:11, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Don't think we have the snowball clause on Wikidata, but since the outcome is given you can definitely WD:UCS close it before a week goes by. Infrastruktur (talk) 13:38, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
