Welcome edit

Welcome to Wikidata, Nadzik!

Wikidata is a free knowledge base that you can edit! It can be read and edited by humans and machines alike and you can go to any item page now and add to this ever-growing database!

Need some help getting started? Here are some pages you can familiarize yourself with:

  • Introduction – An introduction to the project.
  • Wikidata tours – Interactive tutorials to show you how Wikidata works.
  • Community portal – The portal for community members.
  • User options – including the 'Babel' extension, to set your language preferences.
  • Contents – The main help page for editing and using the site.
  • Project chat – Discussions about the project.
  • Tools – A collection of user-developed tools to allow for easier completion of some tasks.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask on Project chat. If you want to try out editing, you can use the sandbox to try. Once again, welcome, and I hope you quickly feel comfortable here, and become an active editor for Wikidata.

Best regards!

Please merge when appropriate instead of requesting deletion edit

Hi! I see you recently made three deletion requests, all of which turn out to have been merge candidates instead. It's always better to merge when possible, as we don't know when an external site is using a Wikidata item id. Cheers, Bovlb (talk) 14:58, 5 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I see you made four deletion requests today, all of which turned out to be improper requests that should have been merged instead. On Wikidata:Requests for deletions, it says, " Duplicate items should not be deleted and thus not listed on this page." Please try to avoid requesting the deletion of pages that should not be deleted, as it causes disruption. Thanks! Bovlb (talk) 00:38, 17 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

illustrations edit

Illustrations are specific to editions. Illustrators should be placed on edition data items, not the general data item for a work. The illustrator did not illustrate every edition ever published. --EncycloPetey (talk) 19:49, 6 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

@EncycloPetey: Thanks! I've noticed your edit. It was imported from en.wiki, but I try to find some edits like that and reverse them. Cheers! Nadzik (talk) 19:52, 6 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Municial websites in Estonia edit

Hi! Regarding municipality and the town have the same website (e.g. Special:Diff/1130401044). In Estonia the only territorial entities that have (official) websites are municipalities. Some municipalties and their capitals may have the same name (or similar name), but this does not make municipality website more of this settlement than a website of any other settlement in the same municipality. Also, note that in Estonia there are a few municipalitites that include one settlement (i.e. municipality and settlement are coextensive), but to have an official website is still characteristic only to municipalities. 2001:7D0:81F7:B580:84A:CFCC:5D13:1848 07:23, 7 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Lovecraft edit

Please do not add certain illustrations of Lovecraft's works again. Some of them have nothing to do with the work and on other occasions you generate duplication of images. Thank you.--Xabier (talk) 20:33, 11 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Xabier:! Thanks for your feedback! I believe that you are referencing to the edits made by PlTools and their Harvester. These images were miported, because they are used in infoboxes on it.wiki, de.wiki, pl.wiki or en.wiki. I will review them next time. Cheers!

Bulk deletion reuests edit

Hello, and thanks for bringing to admins' attention these empty items. For future references, when dealing with this amount of requests, please consider using bulk deletion request per instructions at WD:RFD. Again thank you! --Kostas20142 (talk) 16:00, 1 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Kostas20142:, you are welcome! Thank you for the information, I knew about it, it is just easier to through the logs and ask for each deletion seperatly (as I have to go to the item history anyway). I will try to use it when applicable though. Cheers! Nadzik (talk) 16:02, 1 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Q75220055 edit

3 months ago, you added dissolved, abolished or demolished date (P576) value 1984-11-01, with sources that looks like imported from Japanese Wikipedia, but if you really read ja:清水トンネル (and further the kowiki ko:시미즈_터널 and zhwiki zh:清水隧道_(日本)), it combines with 3 different tunnels, but the first two tunnels 清水トンネル and 新清水トンネル are still operating, and look like both are sharing same enwiki article en:Shimizu Tunnel (and hence sharing Shimizu Tunnel (Q22329636)), of course both are falling under same Jōetsu Line (Q1135061). On the second hand, jawiki article also contains 大清水トンネル, a Jōetsu Shinkansen (Q912219) tunnel, which is also in operating, and however has a separate enwiki article Daishimizu Tunnel (Q2623189), to which dewiki and frwiki also only describe the Joshin Shinkansen tunnel. So I wonder which tunnel was "demolished on 1 Nov 1984"? --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 00:03, 3 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
